great resort. longest runs in the area. fast lift. friendly staff. not too crowded (mid-week). good food. nice rental options. excellent snow-making machinery.

Good place too take the kids and have a great family time. Unfortunately they hardly had any snow. I kept seeing some grass patches. They raise the prices some bit for holiday season. Had a much better time in snowshoe mountain in West Virginia.

As a child I used to race at Sugar Mountain and it has been a while since I've been back. To my surprise there was a beautiful new chairlift to get to the top that was super fast and a really nice new double black diamond that was super fast and a lot of fun. Typically a place where ski patrol does not give you a hard time which is very nice for an adrenaline junkie like me.. good job on the exterior but the interior of the lodge is in such desperate need of help it hasn't changed since I raced in 95 and neither has the cafeteria LOL. If you want anything halfway decent for food go upstairs to the bar

The snowmaking and grooming are great! Staff work very hard to ensure the best possible conditions at all times. Yes weekend days are crowded so be prepared for some lines on the main hill. Try to ski on a weekday or at night on weekends. Or come early before the afternoon crowds!
The lift attendants are helpful and will sweep the snow off your chairlift seat before you sit down. They help little kids get on especially on Easy Street.
The food is fresh and good! I like the wraps in the cafeteria. On weekends they grill amazing thick burgers on the deck with sides of slaw, potato salad , chips and a drink for one price.

Been skying there for 40 years. Personal are very helpful and knowledgeable. Snow conditions depend on the year, some good some not so good. I would always call or check online first. If you are an expert skying fanatic North Carolina in noway compares to Colorado or Utah, Lake Tahoe etc but a good place to take the kids for a fun weekend.

I visit Boone, NC about once a year, sometimes more. I have tried a couple of the places there out for snowboarding and Sugar Mountain is my favorite so far! I will be going to Sugar Mountain the next chance I get to go snowboarding for sure! They have both beginner and expert trails, which is good for me. I have to get warmed up before I go to the top of the mountain!

Great place for skiing in the southeast. They have some great runs almost a mile long, and a park with tubes, etc. --though it's not open all that often. Food is pretty good at the lodge, and it has several lifts. It can get very crowded during the afternoons with a good sized line at the lifts, so plan accordingly. Their ski school is fantastic. I put both kids through their schools over two-three visits and they've become confident, great skiers.

We had a great time snow tubing. I just wish the operation ran more smoothly and I think there should be a safer way for children to get back to the top.

If we could give a negative we would! Brought our youth group up to ski, the staff on the slopes are extremely rude!! There is so many bare spots our youth were injured by the gravel etc. Our youth were only on the slopes for 1 hour and we paid $752 and have been told it is up to the general manager(who was NOT avaialbe at the time, but was on the grounds) to decide if we receive a refund. We were also told that it was not likely to receive a refund. The staff in the admin office is also very rude! Also were told this was not an emergency to contact him, the general manager and that it could take weeks to hear from him!!!! Will update if they do. Also the bathrooms are not handicap accessible. Terrible experience! NEVER will we spend our youth groups $ that they earn with them again! 6 years and this is the ABSOLUTE WORST ski resort we have ever been to!!

Last weekend I visited this place and I was not notified about the status of the trails when purchasing that expensive ticket. Actually, they had opened some trails without having any snow in some places making difficult to go through, they should have it closed. The service was terrible though, they also requested my credit card information just to get a helmet. I left the place right away and there is not refund. Very unpleasant experience I had to go to Appalachian mtn. In ideal conditions it seems the trails would be OK and maybe I could have fun. I won't go there ever anyways. Check the trails before purchasing ticket!

Enjoyable place to ski in the south. I have been skiing at Sugar for multiple years and always enjoy. I have always found the staff to be helpful and courteous. I consider the cost of a locker (50 cents) to be quite reasonable. It is the south so conditions are not Colorado. However they do a great job with snow making. Great parking close enough to walk and they also have a shuttle

Sugar Mountain is pretty great for what it isa decent place to ski in the Southeast. Many of the ski snobs may put it down, but I highly doubt that many can afford to take their family by plane or to stay in an expensive resort out West on a whim. However, if you live within 3-4 hours (we drove 6 and stayed with 4 of our Adult kids) Sugar Mountain has some nice runs and pretty efficient at keeping the skiing enjoyable. Sure there are some ice patches, but you have to remember they're blowing Snow when they can giving the nature of the Global Warming impact. Our family loves coming here, and we'll definitely go back.
