From the moment you enter Smoke& Barrel, you're hooked by the smell of bacon and beer, my favorite combo. Real tasty food, loved the beer. Only thing I would recommend them to improve on their service and staff. They don't greet you with a smile, and our server was not keeping a check on our drinks. Maybe it was a little crowded that night, but still
The food was good! Servicenot so much.
Made a reservation, but when we showed up we were told that they do not accept reservations. To accommodate us, they tried to put us into the basement lounge that wouldn't have full bar service and was extremely dark. We even got yelled at for turning up the lights to read the menu. We moved upstairs on our own and sat at individual tables. Waited over an hour for drinks, and the total dinner took well over 2.5 hours. Very very slow service.
Go for the food, which everyone loved, but expect to be underwhelmed by the service.
This place. If you are in DC you have to go here. Whether you're vegan or not, whether you're into beer or whiskey or not. Omg. It is soooo good. I've had almost all the vegan items on the menu, and they're all fantastic. The first thing I ever got there were the vegan spare ribs, which are one of the best vegan dishes I've ever had. The bartender there told me the vegan wings are the lost popular item on their menu, and they're the reason he became vegetarian. The sweet potato donuts. Drool. Added bonus, is that it's an omnivorous place, so there's something for everyone, and the rotating tap list of craft beer is amazing.
Went here on a chilly evening for some BBQ and drinks to warm us up. Staff was very nice and helpful. The beer list is as good as sister spots like meridian pint. Whisky list was competitively priced and well appointed. Food was good but not stellar. It was pretty crowded and decor isn't exactly high class but I would go back at least for the drinks.
The food was pretty good, especially the grits. However, the service was very poor. 1- We were given no plates for a messy appetizer at our large table. 2- One of the burgers came out without the burger patty (and the waiter didn't notice until we got his attention minutes later). 3- One member of our party ordered the "Texas toast with jam" but was given no jam. We had to flag down the waiter again, who then informed us that they were out of jam. So she ended up paying $3+ dollars for two pieces of dry toast In the end, the atmosphere is cool, but I wouldn't recommend it.
I was looking for a quick and easy place to eat and this seemed to be it. First, I requested a domestic beer, but the only one they had was Pabst in a can. I asked for a glass. This bar serves many craft beers, so if that's what you want, this place is for you.
I came here for the barbecue in which they specialize. A special was offered. Three tacos and a side for $8. I ordered pulled pork tacos and a side of baked beans. The tacos were okay and I really liked the beans except they were barely warm.
I finished my meal and the bill was $14.30. I gave the bartender a $20 and got $5 back. Either he assumed the 70 cent difference as a tip or I got shorted. Not a problem. I left a $2 tip. Add that to the 70 cents and he got close to a 20% tip; otherwise he got shorted on the tip
Was there for the first time with a group of 4 others for Taco Tuesdays. $8 for 3 tacos and 1 side. I ordered mashed potatoes for my side and it was the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. Didn't even need gravy. 🤔amazing right?! Good selection of alcohol for my friends (I only go out for the food) and you get your bang for your buck. I also got a ginger beer ($4) since I don't drink and it was really good! Also got the carrot cake because I'm a big sweet tooth and I got a huge portion for just $7 and it was a good quality, not too sweet but just enough with the icing.
It was cool. Could have been better. Probably won't go back. Food was good depending on selections. My party had mixed reviews.
Can't say anything wrong about the place..great vibe, great food, great drinks and most importantly fantastic service. this is a restaurant where you definitely get your money's worth and more.
I want this place to be good, but the food is far from fresh. We went twice thinking we would give it another shot. Both times the food was not hot and definitely tasted/felt re-heated and a bit dry, especially for barbecue. We haven't been back since and stray away from it whenever a friend brings it up as a potential food spot.
Best mashed potatoes I have ever had!!! No need for gravy at all. The pork BBQ sandwich was moist and rich with flavor, it also came with pickles on the side which I personally enjoy on my Pork BBQ.. if you are ever in Adams Morgan and craving BBQ I would tell you to go here. I will definitely be making this one of my weekly dinner spots.
I've been here once and sat at the bar. The bartender was pretty dope and food was super well priced for the amount. I got one of those BBQ for two things and it was more than enough. Beer selection is amazing. I will definitely be coming back. Might be a new favorite!
