Pretty unremarkable. Not bad, not good, just there. There are MUCH better taco places nearby. Also when we were there they decided in the restaurant during business hours was the time to scrape and repaint things so we got to listen to scraping while smelling paint thinner and then paint for the entire meal.
If you need food and everything else is packed or if you just like spending lots of money on mediocre food then this is the place for you, otherwise I'd look elsewhere.response / report this review -

Our group of 4 was excited to try out brunch here for the first time but it was a huge let down. After we were seated and got our initial round of mimosas and food it was nearly impossible for us to get service. It felt like the whole brunch we were constantly waiting to order something else but no one ever stopped by our table. The waiter even apologized for the terrible service because he knew it was terrible. It would take 10 minutes for us to get the drinks we ordered and oftentimes would have to remind them what we had ordered (mimosas or margaritas Nothing difficult). At one point we ordered nachos with just beans and cheese and they brought us tortilla chips sprinkled with powdered cheese. I'd never seen anything like it. We had fun because we enjoyed each other's company but it was hardly worth the $40 we paid for the lackluster service and minimal food and drinks. Would not recommend.

Giving El Centro 3 stars because of the VERY rude security detail they work with at night. These people are the rudest security detail I have ever encountered. I've been going here for a very long time. I've made friends with bartenders, the wait staff and the bus boys. This past weekend my friends and I decided to go here to have a couple of drinks and the security wouldn't let us in because one of my friends had sneakers on. While I understand you have a dress code to up hold my friends sneakers were not Jordan or any sort of basketball shoe. They were Gucci sneakers. We told the security guy at the door and he just kept repeating no sneakers. Finally we got fed up and decided to turn away when we see a group of guys walk out with converse and vans on! Are you kidding me!?! It's safe to say when I head here for some drinks and to see the people I know here I will either let the people know I'm coming ahead of time or get there super early to avoid the ignorance of these security people. Oh by the way I also witnessed one guy with Jordans on pay the security guy at the door to let him in. Pretty sure they are not allowed to do that.

I went to El Centro for the first time last Saturday for brunch and it was so fun! There was early 2000s music playing all day and everyone was having a great time! I asked for bacon, eggs, and toast, and my super sweet server (forgot her name) wasn't sure if that could be done (it was her 4th shift) so ran it by the manager. Next thing I know he shows up to the table, sits down, makes sure he knows exactly what I want, and then adds a few items for me to try. It was the nicest way to not make me feel uncomfortable and ensure I received exactly what I wanted. Thanks, Brad and team! You were all so wonderful!

This place has amazing food. The brunch is awesome, the tacos are pretty good, the best thing is their quesadillas and the starting salsa for the chips. The michelada is also amazing! Just beware of rush hours, in one occasion we were dragged around the whole restaurant looking for a table/place at the bar, then we were told that we could order take out, when we tried they said we couldn't. It was obvious that there weren't any tables and that there was a waiting time but they never told us how much, we left. The music is also way too loud, that's fine if that's your thing.

Brunch is definitely worth the money! Endless Margaritas, Bloody Mary and Mimosas. The staff is wonderful. Henry the host is very helpful and the server Jesse is always going above and beyond

Food is always great. The margaritas are the best in the city. The staff is very personable and friendly. It is my go-to bar in the city. Taco Tuesdays.. happy hour and $2 tacos all night.

Went for the $35 bottomless brunch deal. The food was highly underwhelming and the drinks tasted like you could buy them at a grocery store and make them yourself. The waiters were all super friendly however they were short staffed and it showed. We ended up getting about 1/2 of the plates we ordered and quite a few we didn't order. Bathrooms were dirty and the hand dryers didn't work. Overall would not go back.

Let me tell you I love this place!! Not only is their food amazing but it's also an amazing night club! I love to come here for lunch with friends or dinner before I head over to a show at the Lincoln theater or even if I'm just out and about in the area. At night this place becomes an awesome club filled with amazing music and dancing! Literally always a good time no matter when you go!

First off, El Centro is fine. That's the problem, actually -- there's nothing memorable about this place besides that the atmosphere makes it seem super cool and fancy. As a group of three, we spent over $100, and it wasn't amazing. It was fine. The food was fine. Portion sizes on the entrees weren't very big for $15 a plate -- it was two enchiladas on a big plate with the majority of the space occupied by rice and a black bean puree. My friend who got the pork tacos said the meat was very dry and kinda tough (overcooked), although the tacos were mostly fine. Honestly? The free chips and salsa were probably the best thing we ate all night.
The booze? Just fine, nothing amazing. Please note: for happy hour prices on drinks, you need to sit at the bar. Otherwise, you will get stuck with paying full price for drinks for sitting at a table 20 feet away from the bar. But here's the thing: the full price cocktails/sangria are significantly better than happy hour price drinks. I had the Melocoton (white sangria with peaches) at full price ($9), and it definitely tasted better than the happy hour priced white sangria I also had, which didn't have any cinnamon taste to it. The receipt also had it marked differently -- the happy hour one was "White Sangria, Special Prep" for $5 and the Melocoton was listed as such.
The server we had was excellent, super attentive and prompt with food and drinks. No complaints there.
So sure, you can go to El Centro, and you'll have a fine time. But it'll ONLY be fine. (Not amazing.)response / report this review -

Really enjoyed this place. Friendly and lower key but had a nice buzz about it. Lovely tasting food at reasonable (well, reasonable for New York) prices. Far better in every way from a more pricy Mexican restaurant we visited the next night, on 3rd Ave. Highly recommended.

Went here for brunch last weekend. The place was packed had problems with our reservations but the manager took care of us. The waiter was great. Drinks were strong and food came or quick lots of options unlimited food and drinks for $35 not bad
