This is *the* spot to go in DC if you like well prepared food. Bonus points if you have a gluten free party member as Blue Duck is VERY gluten free amd Celiac's disease friendly. Probably one of the most in the city, actually.

The kitchen is open so you can watch the chef's cook, very cool if you like to cook.

Pricing is fair.

Get the bone marrow, it's one of the things everyone gets there because they do it well. If you've never had bone marrow before try it here because this is an excellent representation.

Also, Michelin star, how cool is that?

Omg I came here for brunch on Saturday. We ordered the Short rib hash (their signature dish) and the eggs Benedict. Both dishes were so delicious and the eggs in the Benedict were cooked perfectly. Also service is on point. Very attentive and polite without being intrusive.

We stopped in and had the braised rib and steak. They were both great. The pork belly appetizer was very good and I would get it again. Come here you won't be disappointed!

Absolutely delicious! Everything we had was superb, but the hot chicken with biscuit was my favorite!! Additionally the waiters are wonderful! So knowledgeable and friendly - our waiter (Michael) definitely made our brunch experience perfect!

Our first time here. The place is bigger than it appears, and that may be a reason for the somewhat out loud environment. The food was pretty good. The beef tartare and the pork belly for appetizers and were delicious. Then we had the braised ribs and the butcher cut. The braised ribs were OK, nothing phenomenal. The butcher cut, NY Strip, was cooked as requested and the flavors were well balanced. The mushrooms and carrots (side dishes) were probably the best part of the meal.
A negative aspect was that it was freezing inside. We asked if they could place us in a slightly warmer place. We were told they would contact the engineers (?!) to adjust the temperature and we could wait another 30 minutes for another table. We stayed, but needless to stay we were freezing throughout dinner.

Absolutely incredible food, service, and over-all experience. Saving this restaurant for a special occasion, I was able to dine here for my birthday. We were seated in a private glass booth (I think it may have been called Hamilton), of which there were only two or three that I could see. We also had a wonderful server Dina (I hope I've spelled it right.) He was extraordinarily thoughtful, attentive, and kind. He was also very knowledgeable about the menu and provided lovely and appetizing descriptions of the entrees. The night was complimented with unbelievably kind gestures including complimentary sides, appetizers, and ice cream to top it all off. By all metrics this was an amazing night made possible by the chefs- with the incredible food- our phenomenal server, and the rest of the team working behind the curtains. An absolute must for anyone visiting D.C. or for residents. I have never had better food or service anywhere. Great job team.

Over the top great service and food. Really enjoyed the hash and they went out of there way to make freshly squeezed grapefruit juice (I only asked for regular Grapefruit juice). They place has a great look. Looking forward to coming back and enjoying a dinner here. Thanks all for a breakfast.

The food and service was absolutely phenomenal. The corn grits are very sweet and were devoured within seconds of reaching the table. The blue duck is quickly approaching it's second star if it was up to me.

Outstanding food. Service was mostly nice. Being an out of towner made for some difficult interaction but overall great experience. The staff were helpful when eating more cultured dishes. They knew about the food, and helpful with best ways to eat. Sometimes the fancy food can be confusing on where to start. I didn't feel judged for having questions

Fantastic. The bar serves full menu and has plenty of seating including tables. The staff were very attentive making for a great experience. Food was excellent from apps to dessert. Tuna, terrine, braised beef rib, oysters, blah blah blah. Everything was prepared very well and served immaculately. I write this 24 hrs after to ensure it wasn't just the moment swaying my opinion.

Been here a couple times and each time the service has been impeccable and the food has been consistently delicious! I ended up having a birthday dinner and they were able to accommodate a party of 10 with only two days notice! They managed to give our party a nice quiet private dining area right near the kitchen, which we all loved. The waiter and staff were amazing! He kept the champagne coming and our glasses filled. He even managed to get the bartender to create a specialty cocktail for me since it was my birthday. The food was amazing and so was my special birthday treat! My friends and I had a wonderful time! The bone marrow, wagyu beef, and crab cakes were superb!!

My friends were staying at the Park Hyatt (which houses Blue Duck Tavern), but we were unable to get a table on Inauguration night. Fortunately, the menu is served in the adjacent lounge, and we found a comfortable seating area. There was a fine choice of red wines by the glass, and a sensory food experience that left us marveling at the taste sensations that sometimes almost exploded in the mouth. In D.C. for the Women's March, we were surrounded by convivial "neighbors" and lingered to share a dessert with new friends. We also enjoyed watching couples in their finest formal wear getting into cars to go to celebratory events. Although we weren't celebrating for the same reason, the overall party spirit was good.

It was such an incredibly delightful dining experience that we went again the second night, after the march. Over two nights of sharing many tasty plates, we literally lolled in our seats exclaiming to one another how delicious every dish we tried was! We sampled at least half of the menu items. There were different servers each night, but we always experienced friendly, professional service.
