Go for happy hour and stuff yourself with pretzels and beer cheese. For those of you who are bad a metric, 1 liter is almost 3 12oz bottles of beer. Be careful.

My German boyfriend and I found this place during our last visit to DC half year ago. We had a very good jagerschinitzel, an awesome service and a great time. We're back in DC now and came back to have that great experience again but we had an enormous disappointment instead!! Everything this time was bad: the beer, the food, the service!! On top of it, they ran out of silverware and gave us the cheapest plasticware possible to eat. We're not coming back to this place ever again!

The place. The ambiance. The selection of beer. The bartenders. There's nothing you cannot like about this place. I've been to 3-4 beer places in DC and this is hands down my most favorite one!

Cheerful indoor/outdoor/rooftop patio bar. Good beer selection. Drinks are pricey compared to the typical H street bar (but on par if you're coming from 14th street). The servers/bartenders are really friendly. The food is homely but surprisingly delicious. I've come back multiple times because despite the prices, this place is always a pleasure.

Great environment and overall experience! The beer list is limited but fits the style and good quality. Food is also tasty! Come for the outside patio and rooftop and stay for the beer!

Awesome beer selection served in liter mugs! Food is also very good. Service is friendly, but a little slow. Outdoor atmosphere is wonderful, with hanging lights and a tree growing in the middle.

Lived most of my life in Germany, and I love this place. Prices are steep at first glance, but in reality, $14 for 1 liter isn't that bad since you're really getting 3 beers for that price. That makes it cheaper than a Bud Light in most DC bars! Food is decent enough, but the main attraction here is the beer and old-world party atmosphere, which makes it feel very close to some of the beer halls I enjoyed in Germany.

Great place to hang out. Service wasn't great when we were there but we know that can vary server to server. In general we really enjoyed ourselves and felt like we were hanging out in Germany for the afternoon!

The beer selection here is amazing. Not a raging fan of the food but that is all personal preference. The pretzel and cheese appetizer is the only thing I have ventured to try thus far and the pretzels are AMAZING the cheese however leaves a rather funky taste in your mouth that I am definitely not a fan of.

This place fills up really quickly on special events so get there early!!
Beer is reasonably priced and the homie feel with the wooden stools is unbeatable!

I have celebrated numerous occasions at the Biergarten with friends and love to bring out of town guests!

Real German in D.C.

This place is very deceiving as the back and sides can't really be seen from the street so you are really surprised when you go in and see how big the place really is.

Nice beer garden outside and the bar up front is cozy with all of the typical German beer selections you would expect.

The food is good and the portions are healthy. Bring your appetite.

Since the H street renaissance, this is one among many choices there, but very worth while to go and will bring you back over and over. One of my favorite choices in D.C among other German places.
