My family and I visited this place mid-September and we enjoyed it. The apple orchards are beautiful! There was many types and varieties of apples, but almost all on the trees were rotten because they were not sprayed with any type of insecticide or there just wasn't any within reachable distance on the trees. My husband noticed that the orchard areas that were off limits (because they sell those in their store) were sprayed with pesticides and the apples were bountiful and beautiful and it kind of made me mad. We had to hike about twenty minutes into the very back of the field to find apples that hadn't been seen or picked by all the people there and then slug them up hill. The playground, animals, and bamboo forest was my sons favorite part. I enjoyed the gift shop part, but things were a bit pricey. I don't know who in the world would pay $8.00 for a candy apple, but it ain't me. Like many other reviews said, this place was PACKED. Next year we'll probably come earlier in September or go somewhere else that isn't as popular.

Unfortunately I can not give this place a good review, since their dog attacked my dog for no reason at all. I took my family there Saturday with my dog. There were many dogs there. I even asked going in if it was ok to bring her in, the answer was yes. All the employees greeted us not one person said a thing about her. Again many dogs there. I went to the counter to pay for our pumpkins and jelly. As I finished up paying I saw a dog come out of the back room behind the counter. Did not think much of it, until it put it's head between my sisters legs from behind. As we both looked at each other, the lady behind the counter said "oh she is very possessive of this counter" before she finished her statement the dog attacked my dog, through my sisters legs. with my young niece and nephew right there. The dog did NOT have a collar on so we could not even get a hold of her. A very large man (a customer) came over and kneed it in the side and pulled it off my dog. The lady behind the counter actually said "oh we don't allow dogs in the stand" not a single person from the stand asked if we were OK or apologized. If you know your dog is aggressive we would you have it loose in a massive crowd. This is NOT OK. My dog was bit in the mouth and has two scratches that are raised enough to raise her fur. Beware if you bring your dog to this place. I usually go to Granddad's I will be going back there from now on. I had to go back in an ask for the manager for anyone to have any concern of this incident even then I did not feel like there was much concern until my sister said "what if she bit a child would your attitude be different then". I personally would never own an aggressive dog and have it around people.

This was our first visit. It was very crowded. The apple cider donuts were very good. We didn't get farther than that before my daughter got stung by a yellow jacket or bee. There were swarms of them around every person. Especially if you were holding apples or donuts. Most of the time they did not sting even though they landed on us all constantly.. Then one did. A sweet lady who worked at the hot dog counter gave my daughter some sting medicine. I really appreciated that! After that the kids just wanted to leave. We bought a bag of apples and some kettle corn and left. I had really hoped for a better experience. We drove 2 hours each way to get there.

Their website does NO justice to how great this place is. I am a documentary photographer. I came from Florida to document a client and her family picking apples. The place is incredibly organized and laid out very nicely. The playground is made of cute custom made enclosures which kids can run and hide through out. There are tons of people there on weekends during picking season but it's spaced out nicely so it doesn't feel crowded! I was very impressed to learn it's completely free to enter which is great! Obviously there is a cool market to help support the project. Tons to do!
A drop off circle at the entrance-- where people can drop off their families at the entrance would be a great addition! because the parking goes super far back and you really can't just hold up traffic once your in the flow you must just keep with the flow of traffic :) there is a nice treat for those who park in the back though- a beautiful skytop view of the mountains!!

Two stars for the kid's play area and for the doughnuts.
We decided to visit on Sunday October 1st.
First off, there is only one ATM (you have to pay cash for everything which would have been nice to know in advance). So we spent some time in line to get some cash. Then, we finally came to the line to get our basket for picking apples in the orchard.
The staff giving out the baskets was very helpful in providing a map and explaining where the different apple varieties are. However, once out in the orchard, we found that the apple season was almost over. The only apples left were some Granny Smith, and even those were very few and with many blemishes. We managed to pick a variety of not-so-blemished and unripe apples to fill our $15 basket (you pay up front, so if you don't pick anything, that's $15 wasted).
After coming back to the barn, we found a billboard with all the apple varieties and the season during which they grow. Turns out that that billboard indicated that there are almost no varieties that are left to pick in the orchard. It would have been nice if the staff giving out the baskets would make mention of that before we commit to spending $15. We saw some people going out with three baskets - wonder what they ended up picking.response / report this review -

More crowded than NY subway and longer lines than airport check in! We heard great reviews about this orchard but our visit this past Saturday was anything but great. Not sure if picked the busiest day of the year, but it must have been close. 30 min wait to get apple basket, 15 min wait for water 45+ min wait for donuts! And, apple orchard was full of nothing. Spent 3 hours walking around for 8 apples. Not a single employee to be found outside the barn for help. Maybe this place would be good if not so crowded but not worth the drive or time we spent. Nice play area for kids.

We've made an annual tradition to go up to Sky Top for some apple picking, but to be honest, it's starting to be a hassle. The parking is an absolute nightmare because of how crowded it is. You're shoulder to shoulder with people anywhere you go around the buildings.
Those donuts are worth the wait, but standing in line for 20 minutes starts to be a bit much when you've got a toddler in tow.
The apples are good, and there's plenty to do up there, no question, but man, getting there is a battle.response / report this review -

Great place to take your kids and grandkids, but try to avoid the crowds on the weekend in the fall. We also like to take visiting adults. Everyone loves the cider donuts and large variety of apples. Plenty to do for kids while you wait in line for donuts and apples. On fall weekends it is packed so be prepared to wait for parking and standing in the donut line.

Do not leave this place without trying their donuts. Overall a very fun experience - lots of animals to look at and feed. I don't know a lot about apples and how the season works, but I would say there were not a lot on the trees and a ton of stinky rotten ones on the ground. That being said, my family didn't really care - just be prepared, and if you don't like to pick your own apples (or have a toddler who does like to pick nasty stuff up off the ground), there are tons of prepicked apples to choose from!

Really fun to go with other people. Very beautiful views in some parts of the orchard and they have some good stuff like honey and salsa that is some of the best I have ever had. They also have amazing apple cider donuts and apple pies. Overall really fun to just go and spend a day, really worth the drive.

Love this place! We go at least twice a year to pick apples and there have been occasions we drive the one hour for just the delicious cider and donuts. If you want an outdoor adventure with the family or a group, this is a great option. You get to experience nature with all five senses at an affordable price! You can pick your own apples from a huge variety of trees or purchase ones already picked. You can also buy pies and jellies too. There is a small playground for the kids and an opportunity to feed and pet ducks, sheep, and goatsnot to mention the natural landscape for plenty of photo opportunities! The only downside is the bathroom situationport-a-potty.
