Delicious local restaurant! I visited on a weeknight so there was no wait. The menu varies with the seasons. It had lots of choices and the food was fresh and delicious. The waitress was very helpful knowledgeable about the choices. It's a great place to visit for a special meal or evening out. I highly recommend.

Moving to North Carolina from New Hampshire made me homesick for Maine lobster. But visiting The Lobster Trap cured me. The $10 lobster bisque puree was tasty and creamy. My $26 lobster roll was filling and overflowing with lobster goodness.
After fighting heavy Wednesday Asheville traffic, we got there a few minutes after 5. The restaurant filled up quickly afterwards. The dining experience is slightly like having a pleasant meal in a long but cheery hallway.response / report this review -

Excellent. Doesn't take reservations, but they have call-ahead up to 45 minutes prior to arrival. Portions are good. Food is fresh. Great selection on menu. Worth the price.

I'm really happy with the first time to try this restaurant.
The lobsters were very fresh and super tasty. Love love love it.
I'm not a big fan of white cheese pasta, but the chef made it to a fabulous pasta that I have never eat for awhile.
(I would recommend the pasta has more lobsters on it, and the change the bread, it was so dry)response / report this review -

I visited the trap on my honeymoon and was under great assumption that this was a great place for a great sit down seafood place. The atmosphere was nice and our server was great. But that's about the end of our enjoyment, let me say that I don't spend this kinda money on food regularly because well $120.00 for mediocre seafood is something I'm not down for. My wife's lobster was barely cooked and came out looking like jelly. And yes I ate the food but I wasn't gonna let a $120 meal go to waste. If I had it to do over I would have got McDonald's and burned the other $115 in the square to keep the homeless warm.

Fresh chilled oysters? But your in the Appalachian Mountains? Crazy good seafood, bisque, and a real value, especially considering the proximity to the beacha beach, ANY beach. Better shellfish than most in Florida, or any other seaside location. Going back next time for king crab legs, the real deal.

We are foodies, with high expectations. We absolutely loved this place. Phil was our waiter and he was incredible, his drinks were insane. The steamed lobster was by far the best lobster I have had at a restaurant, period. Will try to make it in again for lunch tomorrow.

We loved it came back 2nd night. Service fantastic. We had raw oysters, excellent, lobster, mussels and lobster w/boil, corn on cob. To make a perfect meal better they offer music. Would recommend to all. Lots of families with children so if do not want the noise go after 8pm.

I am planning a trip to Asheville, and was looking up restaurants to consider. From the reviews, the food appears to be very good, but the owners response to some of the negative comments put me off. Anyone who starts and apology by saying "I am sorry you feel"is a big negative. This tells me the owner won't take responsibility for any problems. As a business owner myself, the customer is always right. I won't consider this restaurant during my visit to Asheville.

When we first got there, they told us it would be a 20-25 min wait. After waiting over 40 mins at the bar (getting a flight and oysters), we were confused about why our table wasn't ready yet. When we asked how much longer it would be, they told us it was going to be 45 more minutes. I, personally, questioned why it was taking so long, but a few minutes later they told me I was too drunk and our party had to leave. My friends and I were confused. I was not drunk but we were asked to leave (I'd been there twice before and was never treated this poorly). Like I said before, they practically kicked us out AFTER we'd ordered 27 dollars worth of oysters and some drinks.money mongers. Please avoid. They were rude and the food is not worth the poor treatment and wait.

Amazing service, great food. Oysters are out of this world! Crab legs and Lobster tail are terrific and steak is delicious and always cooked to perfection. Come here as often as we can.

Stopped in Asheville during a snow storm and this was one of the restaurants that was open and i am so glad they were. We had been here before so we knew the food was good and they did not disappoint. Love the oysters Rockefeller. Had the salmon with lemon sauce and capers. Perfect and the staff rocked it.
