The one star reviews are correct. DO NOT TRUST THEM. They will tell you things cost one thing up front, then retroactively bill you for services and when you call their business office..you'll leave messages until you're blue in the face. They must be hurting for funds because I asked for the total charge before I was seen, paid it in cash, they ran zero tests, and proceeded to try and extract another 89$! Screw this place. Terrible business practice. Don't take advantage of sick people.
I have been in Sarasota Memorial Emergency about 4 times. 1 time for myself ( 0 results) and 3 times form my kid. Also 0 results. Last week my kid had a stomach problems and we had to take her to ER.. They did blood test, urine sample and UltraSound.. Did not find anything. They did not even run a stool test.. Therefore I find them not on level
And we spent 8 hours there. Just imagine the bill. Starting to think, that google is more helpful than Sarasota Memorial ER. Going to Childrens hospital in St.Pete now on..
I am sure the lab does a great job as would any hospital lab. However, I was treated as though my visit was definitely an imposition on the staff. The clerk who treated me was on her cell phone and I had to wait until she finished her texting. Then because I was the last patient of the day and there 1 hour before closing, the phlebotomist hardly said a word to me and was very curt, hurried, and obviously didn't want to be bothered. I would like to think that they were just having a bad day but they obviously were not very busy. I can't recommend this lab for their people skills but assume that they are quite competent.
My 3-year old son went in with stomach pain. We were there for about 4 hours, and got about 3-4 minutes of face-time with a doctor and an x-ray. It turns our he was just constipated.
So not only was the service was truly awful, but the bill was over $1,200. I emailed to complain, and received a call from a lady that said that the charges were reasonable. I understand that ER should be more expensive, as doctors need to be on call 24/7. And as a family, we regularly do checkups and exams to avoid any surprises. But it is disappointing that the health care industry became this. Clearly business before people.
Way to go Sarasota Memorial! Love the $300 per minute rate!
As good as SMH is, the people who work there are even greater. I know, at 67, I’ve have been in a few hospitals. In my time. During my recent 2017 stay, I was treated with dignity professionalism, and care comparable to any private hospital anywhere. There are more than 5 stars working there 👍🏻,
The absolute worst people I have met anywhere work here (theres a couple good souls). They are the lowest of the low. Terrible doctors, terrible nurses, terrible techs, terrible everything. You are not allowed to be in pain if it's not incredibly obvious to them, you must be lying in their minds. I'm sure you get plenty of bullshit in the ER from seekers. I have been in the worst pain of my life for weeks on end and go here to try to figure out whats going on and am I going to die? Do I need to make those kind of arrangements already? These people wouldn't know empathy if it bit them in the ass. You all must think pretty highly of yourselves to have such massive egos, and yet you have no listening skills whatsoever. You should be ashamed of the way you treat patients. One day everyone will be in my shoes, experiencing what it's like to have every part of your body hurt and malfunction one by one. When that day comes for you, I hope you receive the same lack of care you all gave me. You are horrible human beings that deserve no peace in your life I hope you never have a goodnights rest again, then you might understand what it's like to walk in my shoes. You couldn't handle it. Rot in hell. You deserve no less.
My father, who unfortunately passed recently, could not have had a more caring and dependable crew looking after him..I thank all nurses and doctors for their services..A special thank you to Brenda Edusei for being so patient and so thorough in answering all questions my family had regarding our Dad..Outstanding service.
BEST Hospital I've ever been! Staff outstanding! This Hospital is the BEST that have been in! This is why the Hospital raiding is number one! I would like to THANK each and Everyone OF YOU! Please, keep doing what you're doing, making people WELL! AWESOME JOB!
THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT HARD WORK 😧😁 😎
Very good hospital. Bit dated in looks but extremely modern in everything medicine. Everyone there was excellent in service and in their job. Went in for a mysterious GI bleed I had on the job, turned out to be an ulcer that got cauterized and I got dispatched the same day. Had to share a bed though which was less than optimal considering I am a night shift worker who was there during the day and wanted to sleep while my roommate was naturally awake. But a good hospital to go to for anything
This past May 2017, I was entered into SMH for Open Heart Surgery. I spent 5 days in pre-op and 4 days in recovery. During my entire stay I witnessed the true meaning of Team Work. There was not one moment that I needed anything. I was constantly cared for by all employees of this wonderful hospital. I was actually surprised that each person I met seemed to care about my life as much as I did. Thank you to all I met during this stay. You all are amazing, wonderful, and caring, people. I am proud to have know so many of you. God Bless you all.
This hospital is actually just a little further from my house than others, however I'm extremely grateful that I brought my husband here. He and I have both had to go to the ER recently and both times doctors and nursing staff were nothing but helpful, supportive, and willing to answer any questions we had. My husbands trip ended up with him being admitted for surgery. We are new to the area and actually seriously considering coming back to have our child that's due in November.
Terrible experience in the emergency room in November 2016 I had thrown my back out to where I could not walk so I went to the emergency room for help the room was filthy the sheets had a good amount of stains on them and I do not feel that I was treated with any respect by the staff and now I am being over billed my emergency room co pay with my insurance is $300 and they are telling me I owe them $821.32 after my insurance has made a payment to them ? I called to complain and they said I was out of network for my insurance (I live in Venice, FL?) and there is nothing they can do but give me a 10 month payment plan for money that I do not feel that I owe them don't go here they will rip you off they will charge you whatever they want to take from you even after they are paid by your insurance I know I will never go there again and I would advise anyone in need of medical care to go elsewhere as well unless you want to receive over priced poor service like I did
They have saved my fathers life 3 times now. Both my kids were born at this hospital and the experience was truly wonderful. Great service from Great people. I don't know what some of these people are talking about in there reviews but I have been to dirty hospitals in bad areas and Sarasota Memorial is by far one of the best hospitals in the country.
Came here with my 4 year old for a huge cut on her hand. The staff did an amazing job keeping my daughter (and me) in good spirits while they examined her and treated her. The nurses in the ER were friendly and they took their time making my daughter feel comfortable and safe while examining her wound. I am so thankful for the unbelievably quick and gentle care.
