We have been RVing for better than 15 years, and this is the first time that I have felt so much dissatisfaction and angst at an RV park.
We just left the Rio Guadalupe Resort in Canyon Lake TX.
When I made the reservation, they requested full payment in advance and I asked if they were booked or had empty spaces. They said it's a good idea to make the reservation. The gal at the desk was very welcoming, but that's where it ended. We were asked to sign a document that we have read & understood all the rules and regulations. The park was practically empty, and after getting settled in our spot, this guy is driving the riding mower quickly around the non existent grass, and sending huge plumes of dust & stones in the air, over our freshly washed & detailed motorhome and Jeep. This is South Texas, and it's very dry this time of year. Can't understand the need to mow.
Two nights ago our guests arrived to take us to dinner. They came in for about five minutes and when we left, there were tickets on both their car and mine, stating that overflow parking is behind the office, they must register at the office, and not to park on the grass. Mind you, there is no grass to speak of, there are maybe two dozen empty sites around us, the office is quite a distance away, and it's 95 degrees in the shade.
The next day, another guest came to pick us up, and although the speed limit is posted at 5 mph, we were waiting outside, and I can attest that they were not going very fast, mainly because there are excessively high speed bumps all over the place. Almost immediately this interesting, unshaven guy in a golf cart, races up to my guest, and with a threatening posture, berated them for driving too fast. He then left quickly, screeching tires, speeding, blowing dust, down the drive.
Okay. So the next day we wake up to a flea infestation in and outside around the motorhome. I am vacuuming, cleaning, doing the laundry, and trying to disinfect the place. So I put my arthritic 17 year old dog, whose deaf and partially blind outside for 5 minutes, tied on a short leash in her bed, while I am spraying flea killer inside, and I get a phone call that my dog should not be left unattended. There is absolutely no other RV around, and my dog is sound asleep as she usually is. I felt as if we had been stalked for the time we were there.
Oh, and btw, the cost for these insults is $50.00 per night.
Needless to say, we will not be back!

The staff was not very friendly at all to us or to the other guest staying in our "cottage" that smells like a nursing home. We had to buy a candle to fix the reek of the cabin. It's a $700 room in the middle of summer and we walk to the pool in the daylight at 830 and we are told to go back to our room bc the pool is closed. Absolutely ridiculous, quiet time is 10 pm but now no swimming at 8:30 and we get to squish into a tiny room with 5 adults and nothing to do. We will not be using Rio resort again.Seriously for $700!??!!!!!NOT worth the money.

I went here trout fishing during the trout season on the Guadalupe River. They open thier doors and let us fish the river, appreciated. But the staff there made me feel like I was imposing upon them. I felt neither welcome nor wanted. Like I was a nuisance to them. The camp ground appeared well maintained and I caught fish, but my treatment makes me dislike this place.

We just got back from a great weekend at Rio, and I could not say more good things about this place. We were there for July 4th weekend, and it was still so relaxing. The staff was very friendly, and never talked aggressively or disrespectfully when my kids broke a rule. Usually you get the grumpy's that forget they are kids, not the case here. They enforce the rules but still make it fun. The sites are roomy and you can stretch out. The pool Is a huge bonus! The hookups are nice and easy to get to. Lots of shade in our spot 26.

Why only 4- stars? I have to keep it real. I think the public bathrooms need to be cleaner and upgraded. That is the only reason I did not give 5 stars. I did not however use the showers, so not sure on that condition.

Also, NO PETS!😥. I understand the policy, however it does hurt for people that have well behaved pets. Leaving out dogs at home really was a bummer. There is so much room to make a dog run or a place for them to use the bathroom. If someone brings a dog that is unruly then punish that person. DISCLAIMER- the people across from us had their dog. Not a huge deal but a disappointment. No one on the river allows dogs, so that is common. Also who wants to camp next to barking dogs, so that is understood, even though I don't like
It.

This is my favorite place to stay. If you want a nice relaxing weekend, this is the place to be. You won't be disappointed!

Very poor service and cheap overpriced tubes. All of the staff were unfriendly and smelt like they had not taken their monthly shower in three months. Do not go here.

Just find anyplace else and you will enjoy your stay a lot more then here.

And forget if you have a dog you cant stay

The staff at the Rio were very friendly. We took a mid week tubing trip and it was great. My only objection was paying full price for a tube for our cooler.

This place was extremely beautiful. I stayed one night and absolutely loved it. Customer service was great. I have no bad remarks
