Perfect place for girls day after/before the spa. Cute cafe with lots of seating. Pastries and drinks are delicious! I always want to come to relieve my sweet tooth!
This is a perfect place for a bridal shower, baby shower or similar event. I just had my bridal shower here and the venue was perfect and the experience was totally stress free. Ninon, the event coordinator, did a phenomenal job of having everything ready and made to order, and she even added a few items we did not plan for the vegetarians and picky young folks. No additional decorations were needed with the existing lighting, farm table, and beautiful cakes along the walls. The desserts were delicious and I woke up craving more. The take home cookies were loaded with chocolate that melted in your mouth with a cup of coffee. The hot tea was hand made, high quality, and beautifully presented. The cupcakes and cake were just the right amount of sweetness and variety to allow people to snack without getting overly full. I cannot say enough great things about the Bird Bakery in Alamo Heights. I loved my bridal shower here. Oh yes, and it did not break the bank - very affordable!
Bird bakery is the place to go in Alamo Heights. It is cute and all the staff are friendly. While eating lunch there takes a while, due to the masses of people who swarm around noon, grabbing a treat is highly recommended. While their cupcakes are delicious, their molasses cookies are truly divine. Pair one of those with a hibiscus tea/lemonade and you'll be refreshed and ready to conquer anything.
Wonderful customer service. Delicious food at a good price and a Very aesthetically pleasing environment. It was a cute place to hang out at.
My husband and I stopped in to pick up gluten free cupcakes for a family dinner on a Sunday at open. Of course there was a small wait and line to order. The employees were super sweet and helpful in making the right flavor choices. The only thing I would change is to have a smoother ordering/payment/ order fill flow. It seemed like there weren't enough staff working in unison to speed up the process when it was busy.
Decent cupcakes. They're WAY too sweet! After two you might be a border-line diabetic so have your insulin handy. The cheesecake is really good though.
Love love love the cupcakes here. Coffee wasn't anything spectacular, but good. The atmosphere is adorable, you can't help but Instagram the food presentation. The ordering process seems a little hectic, since it's usually crowded and somewhat noisy. I'd drop by a lot more often if I lived closer!
Rating based on appearance of baked items, and friendliness of staff. Both top notch. I got a whopper pie, molasses cookie, pecan pie, peanut butter brownie and a mexican brownie. To go, so i hope they are as good as they look. Amazing staff, hard working and friendly. ☆☆☆☆ UPDATE the peanut butter brownie sea salt square was so good, went back next day for 6 of them!!!
Went in today to order a birthday cake for my foster daughter's 2 year old's upcoming birthday party. The wrench is that my baby girl is allergic to gluten/wheat, dairy and soy. This place was recommended so we gave it a try. They were super nice and the manager consulted with the baker. They've never done an egg-free cake but the baker is willing to give it a try and let us know if it is possible. They asked us to come back on Friday to let us know so we have our fingers crossed! I will post an update to let you know!!!
It was my first time at this bakery and let me tell you I'll be back. Very cozy with a great atmosphere and plenty of treats to go around. If you like coffee and sweets or just want to take a break from a busy day this place is for you.
I love the decor and feel of this little cafe in Alamo heights. It is really cute and welcoming plus convenient! Imo it is slightly overpriced for the cupcakes but the overall experience is nice and I would recommend to anyone in the area to go. My coworker is obsessed with their cupcakes and everyone has their own opinion so you should at least try it out!
Very friendly staff. The food was great and despite being busy, (lunch hour) my food was delivered to my table in a timely manner.
The seating is a little awkward. I'm am not a fan of the tables or chairs as they are very small and have a bar across the front making it awkward when trying to sit with your feet in front of you. Next time I'd make the attempt of sitting at the picnic tables.
The menu was written in beautiful lettering on the back chalkboard making it a little difficult to read when standing in line, and in order to get a paper menu you have to cut in between people in line to reach the counter they are on.
However, none of that will stop me from giving them another try in the near, near future. The food was magnificent and even though I wasn't able to try any of their desserts I saw they had one an award for their Carrot cake!

Very nice people, but the cake was really disappointing. Very dense with thick, crusty, gritty icing. It had a really good presentation, but feel very short on flavor. All that we could taste was an overwhelming sweetness of the icing.
This place is great for ambiance, but I really feel like it's the kind of place that people say is amazing because someone else says it's amazing. Then again, I haven't had any of their cupcakes or other items, just a birthday cake.
I enjoy the atmosphere and great place for gluten free goodies. They also have a brunch menu as well and soups, sandwiches and drinks. There is a delightful party room attached to the main eat in room great for tea parties, bridal showers and baby showers. Outside there are some benches and bistro tables to enjoy your lunch or snack in the sunshine.
