I love this place and have been here many times. It's so much fun! I've had a birthday and Christmas party here. The musicians here are talented, entertaining and put on a great show. They always have drink specials going on. It's spacious, right off the riverwalk, has great outdoor seating, nice bathroom service, and never boring! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
The performances are raw, honest, and have a tremendously punching vibe. These guys really know how to entertain the crowd. It's almost like they sense what songs to play next based on the reaction. The audience Get a really involved too. Plus, lots of beautiful people just wanting a laugh and good times. Can't wait to go back.
Had 10 folks that wanted to get in at 10pm on a Monday night and the door guy said one of our party was too drunk to let in. She was not drunk. Only having fun with everyone and joking around. Guess Howl at the Moon personnel are trained to omit folks with great personalities. But what do I know. Oh well, Dirty Nelly’s took us orphans in. Cheers Nelly!!🍻
I had my birthday here at Howl at the Moon with my aunt and Uncle. I reserved a table and Ms. Justine Brown was quick to answer all my questions and get me all the info I needed. Everyone at Howl at the Moon is very kind and helpful, if you are ever looking for a fun place to go to have a good time during your visit to San Antonio you should definitely check them out! I have visited Howl at the Moon several times in the past 4 years and everytime I leave happy and safe! If I could give them more than 5 stars, I absolutely would, this is a phenomenal establishment with wonderful customer service!
I have been to this bar several times for different occasions. I was looking for somewhere to have a Halloween/Birthday party and this seemed like the perfect place!! To top it all off, at a previous time I had gone, I won a VIP party, so I and all my guests had gotten free cover the night of my party! I got a table for us, right next to the stage, which I got at half price. They brought us up to the bar in the elevator and really tended to our needs the entire night. I had a ton of friends show up and everyone was really taken care of. I will definitely be returning, and I have to say that everyone at my party had the absolute best time. They even had a costume contest at midnight with cash prizes, and my friend won second place!! Best bar experience!! Would highly recommend this bar to anyone!! Fun for all!
I have to say I was a bit disappointed in this bar. I usually go to howl at the moon when I go to San Antonio but i ran across some eerie feelings while I was there this weekend. I have always thought it is great that they are proud of those who serve, as am i. I come from a military town and have family that have served in the military. Patriotism is great but it is probably not a good time to bring out the anthem and flag as there are some heated passionate feelings on both ends right now. One of us was a military veteran and was also upset about how this was handled. Regardless of what side you are on it is very uncomfortable to see military doing Nazi heil hand movements while the anthem is playing. It is a passionate, political, and dangerous thing to do while there is alcohol involved. This is a place for entertainment and everyone is entitled to feel safe in such a place. I also don't believe that the singers should bring up kneeling or anything else that brings high emotions because it might cause a bar fight. I fully encourage patriotism but the anthem and Nazi's were awfully uncomfortable. All I wanted was to go have a beer and have a good time.
Definitely an older crowd. The music was a lot of oldies but goodies, but as a 23 year old I didn't know half of them. The background music and instruments were so loud you could barely hear the singing sometimes. One waiter was beyond annoying and kept dancing over-exaggerated moves throughout the bar and tried to be a comedy act on his own. Very distracting and annoying.
However, the open dance floor was fun and the players and singers were very talented and put on a great show and made you dance even if you didn't know the words!
I really liked the atmosphere of this place. The cover was quite high-$10 each and the Vegas bombs were 21.76 for two and the smallest I've ever had at any bar( our small plastic cups were only about 1/3 full). The band played covers and were awesome.
A fun, if pretty cheesy, time. Sing-along bar classics, current pop songs and some throwback hits. The musicianship is varied but good enough. Drinks are a little overpriced and service can be slow. It's loud, high energy, fun.
This is a really nice place to hang out and enjoy some live music. The band was pretty good! The cover was $10, which I guess is fair, but I would have preferred it to be less. The prices of the drinks are as expected.. pretty pricey. Other than that, I had a pretty good time!
Lady with long, dark hair that puts a stamp on your wrist was so rude. She yelled at me because I didn't hear her and walked by her after paying without getting my stamp. When she stamped my wrist, she literally slammed the stamp on me. She ruined my entire night. Also, $10 is not worth this place. The Houston howl at the moon is free cover, so I expected at least a good time for $10 and a $32 bucket. They couldn't even clean our table. Was dirty since we sat down. Never coming back again.
SO MUCH FUN! They had a live band playing music that reminds me of my teens into my 20s, which goes hand in hand with singing along. We had a blast and I recommend this place to anyone in the area who likes live music!
Piano bars are always a fun time, but the performers at this particular location really seemed unenthusiastic about their work. The phrase "phoning it in" comes to mind. Naturally the drinks are what you'd expect - too much money for something you don't enjoy - but the buttery nipple shots are excellent. Free cover on Tuesdays.
Fun piano bar with lots of drinks options and friendly and fun staff. They accept song requests but don't count on them actually playing them. Our group submitted a couple dozen song requests but they didn't play a single one, so that was disappointing.
I wish I could take a video to prove this but I feel like they were playing terribly in purpose. Maybe there was an argument of some sort between management and performers but the pianos were played off key every song. This was only proven more so when i noticed the keyboards were electric. Enjoy this bar at your own risk, I'm sure they clean up their act come Friday and Saturday but the rest of the week leaves something to be desired. Your money is best spent elsewhere.
