First time here! Came for a work party and they accommodated us really well. We had about 40 people. Only problem we had was that my husband ordered a steak medium well and it came out looking medium rare. We assume there was a plate mixup in our big group but he didn’t mind it too much. Beautiful scenery and great workers. We had trouble finding parking but only because there was a concert going on at Gruene Hall next door. Will definitely be coming back with family.

First time here and the food is delicious. The queso was amazing, especially on the burger! Understated yet amazing flavor, I truly appreciate that. The waitress was polite and very attentive. The entire restaurant made me say "wow" it's massive and amazing. The restrooms were clean with inspirational scribbles inside the stalls. Love it! I will definitely be back. ❤❤❤❤

Our experience at Gristmill River Restaurant 11/27/17 was perfect! What a beautiful setting, especially since we sat outside overlooking the river! The service was timely, the waitress, Abigail, friendly and efficient and the food prepared just right. The pulled pork was so very tender & tasty! The coleslaw was not overly sweet like so many other places. We will recommend it to all our friends and anyone who asks about it. A totally wonderful experience. Nothing in our 2 meals could have been improved in any way! Looking forward to returning!!!

Great views of the river accompanied by good portions of tasty food. Fair prices with most everything under $20 per person. Nice beer garden to wait in or just relax. Picnic tables in the garden area with more traditional tables in the dinning areas. Plenty of staff and private rooms available. Would gladly go back.

This was a wow dining experience for us. The restaurant is big with seating inside, outside and on the porch overlooking the river. We got there early and were able to get a beautiful view of the river from our table. The portions are big, cooked to perfection and yum. Drinks, appetizers and entrée were spot on, the staff was friendly and attentive. We went to Gruene just to eat at this place and I have a feeling we'll have to do this again!

Some of the best quality food I’ve had in a long while. Had the New York strip and let me tell you.no steak sauce needed. You pretty much can’t go wrong their entire menu as I have been there a few times now. The only problem is the girls in the front checking people in seem like they don’t want to be alive anymore

I make the 3 hour drive to Gruene just for this place. Been here several times. Don't let the wait time turn you away. Get on the wait list, chill out to the sounds coming from Gruene Hall, go walk around this perfect little town, get a snack at the Coffee Hause, and come back. Outdoor dining is breathtaking, indoor is full of that Texas charm. You know when you go to a new place and you have to choose only from the "safe" foods? Not here. I've never ordered a dish or drink that wasn't at least among the best I've ever had. When I introduce a friend to this place, I recommend they order to their heart's content. They've always been more than impressed with the result.

Over outdoor seating. Great food Gruene beans, potato salad, steak salad, grilled trout, or ribs are yummy. Prices 12 bucks and up for lunch/dinner. Good service. Depending on time of year and day, be prepared to wait a long long time for a table

So many great things to say about this landmark in Gruene. The atmosphere, the dining rooms, the outside dining under trees overlooking the river. The food is very, very good. The desserts have fake whipped cream, which is disappointing for such a wonderful and classy, relaxed place. My family, friends, and I love this place for so many reasons. Don't just dine there for special occasions.

GREAT PLACE! Food is great, the servers are great. The prices are a little high but well worth it. Only bad thing is it seems like they don't have A/C, or maybe it wasn't working but only working in the restrooms. Other than that my experience was great!

Love visiting Gruene! We sat outside on the patio, along the river for dinner at sunset and it was perfect! Staff was friendly, food was good and served timely, wine was refreshing, and the view was nice! I ordered the Chicken fried chicken and my bf had a steak. Both were very delicious. I always recommend visiting Greune because it's just a beautiful area and I love the small town feeling I get here.

Absolutely fabulous place to eat and drink. The different dining sections are truly unique and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. A menu "must have" are the onion rings. Get them and do not second guess your decision to do so. For my main entree, I ordered the grilled chicken Cesar salad. It was fantastic. All in all, I would love to get drunk here the next time I visit. It's that good.

I am from Illinois and I haven't seen a restaurant in a old cotton mill gin before. I have seen many interesting restaurants but this set up I have never seen before.
I was very happy with my experience during my visit. this restaurant is very unique and I can't imagine you will see much like it. Ordered the 12oz. New York strip steak "medium" and it was cooked perfectly along with my two sides of mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. All for 20.99 and you got a plate full of food so don't worry about going home hungry.
For 2 people on a Tuesday night our wait for a table was very quick, unfortunately though the wait to get our food it felt like it took forever. I don't blame them to much they were pretty full, only one or two tables were open. Our waitress was great and very helpful. If you have a chance and you're close by try it.

Walking in that old building you can just feel the nice warm atmosphere. The staff are very friendly, the building itself is cool not just because it is older and big, but it also has deck-like areas that are like levels of seating area on the river. And during the early spring time I hope y'all notice one thing especially. When you walk through the main front room and straight to the smaller area that leads to outside take a big whiff of that air. You can smell a hint of delicious food with the perfect amount of sweet fresh blooming honeysuckle that ground just above your head

If you are anywhere in near or around Austin/San Antonio you've got to take a few hours and visit Gruene, Texas and the Gristmill. When dining outside you feel as if you are eating in a tree house. The restaurant is simply beautiful with a lot of rich history that is dying to be told.

The food was simply AMAZING. The Honey Chicken was a lunch special on the Sunday that we dined and was HEAVENLY! I can't wait to try and recreate this dish at home. I've also already recreated the Cold Potato Salad as it was a dish I couldn't let go from! The Chicken Fried Steak was seriously to do for as well as everything we had. The kids LOVED the asparagus!

I hope you enjoy your dining experience as much as we did!
