There was a slight hitch with my reservation but they fixed it immediately and politely, might I add. The service was great, and this might actually be the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in. Private bathroom is a tad small for two people but fine for the price. The location is awesome! Restaurants are all around and there is a quaint French lounge next door. I had a great time here.

REVISION: Unethical Manager.

I have tried calling the manager several times (so has my bank, and so has Expedia). He has returned one call, left a voicemail where he barely apologized, but refused to acknowledge any wrong doing. He was condescending and patronizing. Even though it's a low cost, there are more economical options in New York City. It's not worth the cost savings for the hassle of having your credit card number stolen.

Warning: privacy compromised.

I stayed here this weekend. Accommodations were fine, no complaints about cleanliness, but two alarming things happened that would keep me from staying there again.

First, my husband and I went for a run and left the DO NOT DISTURB sign on our door. The cleaning lady was working on the room across from us, saw us leave, and then entered the room to clean. ALL of our stuff was moved when we got back, and I had left my wallet out (so had my husband). There was a safe, and had we elected for housekeeping, we might have opted to use it, but someone entering our room was NOT supposed to happen.

Second, my husband bought coffee in the shop (it was terrible), and he thought it was weird the girl scanned his card and then immediately entered the chip.

4 hours later he got an alert from his credit card company that his card was compromised. It could have been any place we went that weekend (there were two other places up until that point that had swiped his card), but given the circumstances, it appears as though some shady business is going on there.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!!!!

I've contacted them as well and received no response.

Loved the hotel. Great location. The staff is very sweet. The rooms are small but it is called "Pod" so take a hint from the name. I am 5'4" and my legs went to the end of the bed so if you are tall you may not like the beds. Some of the rooms do not have bathrooms in them. But the bathroom is right across the hall. I wanted my bathroom inside of my room so I chose my room accordingly. I will 100% stay here when I return to NY Unless I am here with my S.O. because he is 6'3" and would not be comfortable in the beds.

The staff is rude. I had a do not disturb sign on the door and went out for breakfast. I was only staying one night - why do you assume I wasn't? When I returned, the room had been cleaned and some stuff, including clothing, phone charger, and toiletries had been thrown away. It was annoying since I didn't plan to check out yet. The two front desk staff : useless with a condescending attitude who needs to get a sense of decency. They did not apologize, and instead were rude to me like it was my fault that they had to do half a second of work and listen to my complaint. I could have called the police.
A very rude reviewer named Mario responded to me to 'quit my life.' So apparently I am not allowed to complain about having my property thrown away or to have an opinion. You need to GET a life, fool.

Nice overall for a a hostel. The single room was fairly compact with a twin bed, sink, and hanger. No desk in room but a large workspace at the lobby instead. Besides the no desk, reminds me of a college dorm room. Restrooms, while shared, are in the form of single units with card access that include toilet, sink, and shower. They had soap and shampoo dispensers and were clean. Only complaint was that the door was pretty transparent to sound - but nothing that some earplugs couldn't solve. Location of hostel is great with only a short walk to a few train stations. I was able to easily get around town and back without much hassle. Added bonus - there is a nice rooftop patio with seating so you can enjoy the skyline!

This was a great place! It was a little small like other's suggested the only thing I wouldn't pay extra for my own bathroom again only because the communal were LARGER. The one in the bedroom, i was hitting my arms on the sink when I would go potty. Other then that beautiful rooftop, and the garden didn't look as pretty but that was just the weather! Great staff, no fridge in rooms which sucked because the vending machine was $2 for a 12oz can of sodabut you are in New York so get used to those prices!!!

Located in the midtown close enough to time square via metro. This place has a rooftop garden which was incredible. The room we had was a decent size room for two people. It had a bunk bed, a desk and a sink to wash your face brush your teeth. You did have to share a bathroom with the rest of the floor but there were 4 bathrooms available and the room had an indicator on which bathrooms were occupied. Overall for price it was a great location and great place to stay. I would definitely stay here again!

Pod 51 is what it is supposed to be: small, affordable rooms with four hall bathrooms. Our room had bunk beds. They were surprisingly comfortable - we slept great. The bathrooms were too small - had to use the sink, for example, to hold my clothes. I'm only 5'9", so I could fit under the shower head (lovely rain shower), but anyone over 6" would struggle. Midtown location is great. Overall, it was about what I expected. Cannot give it 5 stars because, well, it's fairly basic lodging. At $145/night, a decent deal. Recommended, but not over the moon oh my god you must go type of recommendation.

This hotel was perfect! Clean, modern, close to theatres and subway lines. Loved reading on the rooftop deck. Beautiful common area and garden on the ground floor too. Don't be afraid of shared bathrooms. I never had to wait and the bathrooms were clean and modern as well. The indicator system in the room to tell you which baths were open was great! One tip Some bathrooms are a lot bigger than others so find the biggest one to be more comfortable when you shower.

You know if was here a year ago and it was the middle of winter. I really look back fondly on this. I did luck out and get an upgraded room with a balcony and it was super cool. Good location, not big and fancy but really neat. Nice concierges and staff. Yes it worked for me but smallish so probably not good for families and I got a great deal. WE are going back to New York in 2 weeks and unfortunately I don't think with 3 adults this would work for us but would highly recommend

Honestly I was unimpressed with this hotel. To start, all of the rooms don't have bathrooms, so be aware and ready to share community bathrooms on the floor, and bring your shower shoes. They say they take out the non essentials to make the stay cheaper, I didn't realize a bathroom was a non essential, but fast wifi is an essential. Plus the place is ungodly expensive for a room the size of a closet! Our room was also very warm and there is no AC. It looked nice on their website and even when you walk in the lobby it looks nice, but the fact that we had no clue we were not going to have our own bathroom was incredibly disappointing. I honestly would not return to this hotel.

Small and affordable for the area. This is a place to stay if you are looking for a hotel close to the tourist stuff and not looking for a room to hang out in. It was clean and well maintained from what I saw. Hotel staff was courteous and happy to help.

This was my third stay. Still great. Service and the extras make the hotel what it is plus comfortable rooms. They cut back on the happy hour a bit by no longer serving sliced meats but maybe this was not permanent. I don't have one single negative thing to say about this hotel after 3 stays.

This is not a place for children and families. Not once did I hear a screaming baby or a whining toddler. Think of it more like a hostel. The decor is fashionable, and well appointed, but the rooms are small, like dorm rooms. I saw matching twin beds, a single queen, and even bunk beds. If you're young and traveling in NYC, this place is comfortable and affordable. There are nice restaurants, cafes, and bars just a couple doors down the street. Go out, have fun, then come back with a new friend.
