I can always count on the service at the Michelangelo to be first rate. The hotel was crowded, and the bar especially. The wait was longer than I would have expected, so I'm only giving 4 stars for this experience.

[Editing because the hotel confirmed the insect I found crawling around under my mattress was a spider beetle rather than a bed bug - and one additional star for the follow up. Everything else stands.]

This place has [bed] bugs! And brown water coming out of the bath tub tap, and poor customer service and crusty stained 1990s-white carpet and generally weird decor - the latter items I could have dealt with while on a 48 hour work trip, but as soon as I found a bug crawling around under my mattress I was OUT (transferred to the Plaza at 12:30 AM - exponentially better room and at $50 less a night). I don’t know if I just got the crappiest room in the whole hotel, but even without the bug issue no clue how this place has a 4 star rating except that the lobby was shiny. Could say a lot more, but once you've found bugs crawling around under your mattress what's even the point.

I've been trying to post pictures of the bug but photo upload doesn't seem to be working presently, will try to update with pics when I have better internet. Travelers think twice!

Nice interior. Very welcoming. Also good location but tends to feel unsafe at night (not sure if it actually is).

Loved our one night stay at the Michaeangelo and wish we could have stayed longer. Very friendly, accommodating staff, a great location, spacious rooms, marble bath with a large soaking tub and comfy bed and pillows. We will definitely return.

I have spent at this hotel for 6 nights and enjoy it very much. The room are excellent and very comfortable, big and warm. The team was great and the location is amazing.
Nice bar at the lobby. Specifically like to thank Owen from the management team for his great help, I forgot my passport at the room and he came all the way to the airport with it, if not him I would probably missed my flight, very unusual service. Thank you.

I arrived at the hotel around midnight. I was greeted by a gentleman whom I guess was the bellman/security guard. He had to summon someone from the back to check me in. Check-in process took longer than expected but wasn't terrible. The room was clean and spacious. I wanted to order room service but this wasn't available. I would give the hotel itself a 4 out of 5 star rating. The rate experience as a whole a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

The overall standard of the hotel is good. We had a room for for adults and one infant. When we arrived in our room we found no crib. The staff provided a bed for the infant despite being told the child was under 1 year old. They replaced the bed with a crib a little later. We also incurred a substantial additional charge on our room rate when checking out do to taxes etc. yet when we booked the room there was only mention of one additional charge of around $38. This was frustrating.

Lovely hotel, in a wonderful location. The hotel was in walking distance to most places that we wanted to see. The room was spacious and comfortable. We will stay at this hotel when visiting New York again. The pizza in the lounge was delicious as well. The staff was helpful and answered all our questions. Our room was quiet for being in the heart of the city.

Stopped in to meet a client in their lobby. Very quite and clean. Super friendly staff. My client said he loved his room and would stay their again. As such, I'd probably recommend this to anyone else coming to NY and asks for a suggestion on where to stay.

We spent 5 days in NYC with the primary objective of seeing as many Broadway shows as possible. The Michelangelo was conveniently located only a few blocks from all the major theaters, Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Could not have asked for a better location. And despite being right on the corner of 7th Ave and 51st, our room was remarkably quiet.The beds were very comfortable, as well.
The staff was uniformly friendly and welcoming. Special shout out to Henry who made us feel right at home as soon as we entered the hotel.
There is a bar and restaurant on site, but somehow we didn't make much use of them (to busy exploring). We will definitely come back to the Michelangelo!

Nice hotel, but the biggest draw is it's location to all the tourist-focused spots. Was surprised by a $35 residence fee that was allegedly on our booking, but never saw such. Hotel room was cozy, but electrical outlets were plagued with splitters as multiple devices were shoved into a single outlet. Was difficult to find a spot for your phone charger for sure. They have a minibar to tempt you, but $8 for a coke, $10 for a mini can of Pringles, and $42 for a small champagne bottle will make anyone cringe. Also, because of the minibar, you have no room in a fridge for your own drinks without pulling theirs out first. We also had two windows that very much led us to sleep longer than we thought. This is simply because there are a few rooms that look out to a small alley that parallels the other rooms of the hotel. No sunlight is reaching you unless you're on the top two floors.

The week between Christmas and New Year's Eve was busy in NYC. I was so pleased that my daughter and I had this hotel to return to every day. The chandeliers tinkling as we walked in were a welcome sound! The Michelangelo is so peaceful and quiet. It has all the amenities without being so large you feel lost or overwhelmed. The location was ideal, the bed comfortable, the room a perfect size and the staff very helpful. The restaurant/bar was delicious and we had several meals and cocktails without leaving the hotel - and room service of course! Definitely choose the Michelangelo if you love the action of the city but want a quite retreat in your hotel.
