Amazing views and right in the middle of the city so it's not a far drive. Great place to take kids or go walk dogs. Would be a great way to spend a few hours. Also a great place to take professional pictures so keep in mind it's a popular location so if you don't want random strangers in your pictures go during a less popular time like when the kids are in school. There's a lake that's nice and lots of fun palm trees also the hole in the Rock which is a very popular tourist attraction.
There is so much to see in this great city park. Just a couple miles from downtown Phoenix it is also easily accessible. There is plenty of parking and it is all free! The hike up to the hole in the wall was nice and easy and the views were great. It was fun to be able to explore up on the rock and look out over the park.
This is a great getaway in the heart of the city in all types of weather. The views are breathtaking and offer a birds-eye-view of the city in all directions without the noise pollution.
There are several trails through and around the rock formations which is a great option for all levels of hiking or climbing.
The one fault I find with coming here is that people have the tendency to leave their trash on the trails and in the formations, which is truly disappointing considering it's a beautiful place that offers something unique to city-living that really isn't found anywhere else without a bit of a drive. This does not take away from coming here [yet], but it is something concerning about the care in the future and those who want to enjoy this place.
This park has the famous hole in the rock. Its a gentle hike up and back. Pretty view near the city and there is a nice little oasis pond. We only took the trail to the holealong with a bunch of other people. The only real negative was that the trail doesn't have a little map ahead to explain how to get up there. Every time we passed someone the same question came out, "Is this the way to the hole?". Its pretty easy as long as you follow the well laid out trail though. It just feels like you should take a few of the side trails but shouldn't.
I love this place! It's such a beautiful, unique area. These mountains look out of this world. I've been coming here since I was a kid hiking to the "hole in the mountain" loving the view of the city. It's especially nice at sunset. I even had my pregnancy photo shoot done at the park. The lake with the mountains in the background make a beautiful photo!
Scenic and diverse desert trails. Lots of space with ramadas. The Botanical Garden and the Phoenix Zoo are a must-see for anyone.
Lots of trails and things to do in this small of an area. Surprisingly clean and safe feeling compared to some other areas nearby. The canal path is great for jogs and hill sprints. Most of it is concrete path with sand trails interwoven.
Great place to catch the sunset and just recharge your batteries in life while taking a break from the city, freeways and work. Just a slight detour through this place and a short break can do wonders for you! Nothing like driving through and seeing the rock formations and reflections in the ponds while others fish, picnic and relax here in the park. For the more adventurous you can climb up the rock formations and look out the window!
Excellent park for a run, walk, bike or trek. 5 stars for its accessibility and closeness. I come here often to walk my large dog on the trail system or just to unwind from the hussle. Neat rock formations to explore. The Botanical Gardens and Phoenix Zoo are here too!
Beautiful place for a quick and easy walk. Small parking lots but still several spaces available, even when it's busy. There are also grills and tables (some covered) so it's a great place for a picnic. Easy access to Hole In The Rock and the zoo.
Beautiful Park. Gorgeous Arizona scenery and easy hiking trails. Perfect setting for dates, family nights, photos. The whole shebang.
There are lots of well manicured trails that anyone can enjoy right in the middle of the city. One of many great hiking and walking options in Phoenix, but incredibly unique due to the colors and contours of the Papago mountains. An absolute must see area whether you live here or just visiting.
The Papago Park is a beautiful park which is home to Phoenix Zoo and the Desert Botanical Garden. The natural beauty of this park is shared by both. An amazing place to visit and enjoy. The park sits on the border of Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe as their municipal park.
We visited the Desert Botanical Garden and it's unbelievable! No wonder it's one of the main attractions in phoenix among everything there is to do there. The way everything is grouped together and the paths through it make you feel as if you're out in the middle of the Sonoran. Very well maintained and there is a restaurant/bar and a cafe also.
Great park but because of that it gets busy. Trails are usually full of people and the parking lot can fill up pretty quick. But there are beautiful views and pretty good hikes for beginners.
