Surprisingly charming as one of the oldest motels in Chicago. The only free parking you’re going to find downtown. Extremely attentive and kind staff. Immaculately clean rooms with soft sheets. For a motel, you’re getting an incredibly good value. Also, at Christmas, the place is nicely adorned.

Not able to control room temperature. You must call to have any adjustments made. I had to call several times during my stay each night because the room became too hot to sleep and even though the receptionist said she would lower the temp, there were no immediate improvements. I had to open the windows to cool down my room but it was noisy outside.

A great location! Breakfast is included if you book through the hotel. It's a great breakfast made to order at a small chicken diner attached to the front desk building. I had a mini fridge and microwave in my room. Edgar is very accommodating and responsive to e-mails. Parking is included which is amazing! Can't beat that! You just may want to arrive on time or earlier because parking is first come first serve. Again, a perfect location. It's not a luxury hotel, but they don't pretend to be. We found our room to be a clean, comfortable place to get some rest. We were out enjoying the city! Thanks Edgar and staff! You made our stay in the windy city a comfortable one!

Good things.. very close to McDonald's, metro station, all pubs are near by, all big food joints are very close.. Reception staff is very helpful, housekeeping is very good..
For visitors - no tea or coffee machine in room, microwave is not available in all rooms.
Overall rating - I m happy and recommending for the short visit.

Had to switch rooms because they didnt have the cleaning done by check-in time. Room was clean, but pics look better than real life. Room was hot. There’s no temp control in room, you have to call front desk. Called front desk to see if they could turn temp down. They reluctantly said they would, but room felt more hot after a while. Husband woke up in the middle of the night overheated so he opened a window to cool down the room, but then couldn’t sleep because of the sounds from the busy street. Just pay the extra $50-$100 to stay somewhere nicer and up to date.

First, it's a MOTEL (easy to forget) so expect motel confort. It's cheap, clean, relatively quiet, free parking and in the city center. A good deal for the price.
There's no breakfast but they have a coffee/tea machine and some basic fruits. We had a good stay.

DON'T STAY HERE!! CHECKED IN AND OUT IN UNDER AN HOUR.
First of all we booked this place because a local Chicagoan recommended a booking website for us and this place had a retro style I liked, free parking, WiFi, and is in a great location. Upon arrival we were HORRIBLY disappointed.
1) We arrived late in the evening and there was NO AVAILABLE PARKING in their lot. Plus, we had to sit akimbo in the parking lot for someone to come to the front desk because there was a "be back in 10 minutes" sign on the door. When we checked in and asked about parking, the employee directed us to park at the McDonald's overnight parking for $35 A NIGHT!!

2) We got into the section where our room was and there was a STRANGE SMELL. It was annoying but tolerable. We weren't to off-put yet.

3) The room was rough around the edges. My partner made the reservations and had high hopes, however, I thought it was to be expected. He was disappointed. I was DISGUSTED at the yellow liquid stains on the wall.

4) Again, we had a long trip behind us and I needed to use the restroom. I broke the "Fresh. For your protection" seal on the toilet. The seat had brown spots on it, but that's not the worst part. The toilet was FULL of TOILET PAPER. Okay, so not happy at this point, but willing to flush it. Flush it AND THE TOILET IS CLOGGED. We call the front desk to rectify the situation and she proceeded to tell us to come get a plunger from the front desk and plunge the toilet ourselves. We were like "No, no, no, we did not do this, we broke the seal and it was clogged. The toilet is not clean for our standards." Her answer was, again, to come get a plunger and fix it ourselves because they aren't allowed in our room after we checked in.

THAT WAS IT.
We got the car from the McDonald's parking lot before the free hour ended and packed up our stuff and GOT OUT.

We were able to find a MUCH BETTER hotel two blocks down AND FOR CHEAPER.

I stay at here every year for our spring conference. Never had a bad experience. The rooms are always clean, everything works, the staff is courteous and friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended.

Very nice motel in downtown Chicago. Room is on the smaller side, but it's a nice room. They offer free parking which is a very big bonus. As long as you book through their website or you get a coupon fur breakfast at leghorn which is nice little place right in front of the motel. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Spent a weekend here. We mainly booked it because it was one of the only places that accomodated smokers. The rooms are definitely in need of updating, but it was comfortable. You absolutely cannot beat the price for the location!!! Each of the front desk clerks that I dealt with were very friendly and helpful.

This is without a doubt the best deal in the city. No it's not a brand new modern establishment but it doesn't feel seedy either. The bed and pillows were comfortable, room was clean and staff were pleasant. I would absolutely stay here again.

The Ohio House is a Chicago icon. While the world has evolved around it, this place remains a classic motor lodge in the heart of River North. Rates are far less than any downtown hotel and parking is included, which makes it even a better deal. It's been updated over the past couple of years and is fairly clean now. Management is responsive to questions and concerns. Parking is limited and if you're staying over a busy weekend, make sure you claim your spot before 6:00 pm or so or you may wind up paying to park off-site. If staying in New Year's Eve, park before 3:00 pm. Otherwise you can usually be guaranteed a spot. Sadly the Ohio House diner closed but the fried 🍗 chicken place that replaced it is pretty tasty. I miss the Dueces Wild breakfast!!!! Best hangover cure in Chicago. L stops are fairly close and you can walk to Michigan Avenue or the loop in just a few minutes. Good bars and dining very close. Make your reservation on-line.
