The hotel staff was wonderful! We were there with our grandchildren for an event in Chicago and they couldn't have been more helpful. I booked directly through the hotel as opposed to using a website like we usually do because we needed 2 beds. The girl on the phone was extremely helpful. The location was great! The kids just stood at the window looking at the lights of Chicago. Our view was Rock and Roll McDonald's and they were facinated! The rooms weren't the fanciest or the most updated, but it was a place to sleep. We didn't expect much more. The pool was satisfactory. Parking was reasonable at $25. Not like other places that charge $50-$75/night. We could have left but everything we needed was within walking distance. A great experience. I wish I could remember the names of the two at the desk. I think it was Collette and Dimitri. They were great.
Perfect location to see all of the sights in downtown Chicago, with easy access to the train system. Great amenities right next door, including a Walgreens and restaurants (fast-food, as well as nicer dining). The staff at this property are exceptional and take pride in their work. Though the building is older, the decor is modern. My only concern, which was minor for our group, was the air temperature in the hotel room. It was inconsistent and hard to manage. Otherwise, this was a perfect location and affordable hotel in the heart of Chicago.
We were pleased with the value and location of this hotel. The first night the pool was pretty chilly but the next morning it was OK. It was very clean and our grand children had a lot of fun swimming and playing in the water. We were disappointed with the availability of complimentary snack food ( we were told there would be fruit and other snacks available when we booked the room) in the lobby, which was absolutely none the first day and 1 apple the second day when we checked. We had 3 children and 2 adults and we booked a king bed with a pull out couch, thinking 2 kids on the couch and 1 with us in the king bed. The couch was a single size and we had to put a bench beside it to make it work. We did not complain or ask for another room so they may have switched us if we had asked. We asked for a late check out and they allowed us to stay until 1 o'clock. The kids were able to swim for a couple hours before we left which was very helpful because we had tickets for a 4 o'clock show and that would have been a long time to entertain them if we had to leave by 11. The room was a good size and overall we were pleased.
Stayed from 23-25 November 2017. The room was small but very comfortable. Overall excellent value for money. Highly recommended for stay. Just a minor issue, the heater was noisy. It’s location along with the standard of facilities makes it a perfect place to stay while at Chicago for sight seeing.
Fantastic value for a prime location in Chicago. Walking distance to many major attractions and the inside was recently renovated. Nice clean carpets, new paint and comfy beds. Exterior still looks old and is in early stages on updates. Was not disturbed by noise and the staff especially the concierge were very nice. If you want a clean comfy spot in the heart of the city and don't want to bust your budget I would recommend a stay.
Stayed here over the weekend of the Chicago Marathon. Overall the hotel is in a good location, and the room was fine (only complaint was that the A/C was super-noisy). Our main issue is that the hotel was really difficult to navigate with a one-year old and a stroller. Seemingly the only way to get into the lobby/check-in area is to go through a double doorway (that doesn't stay open) and up a short flight of stairs. It may not have been a big deal if we weren't in and out a bunch over the weekend between Marathon events and seeing the sites in town.
We've traveled all over the world and this is probably the most inaccessible hotel we've ever been to. In addition, we had an issue with parking, and lack of ice in the machines (which were difficult to find), and quite a lot of city noise (which we expect) -otherwise our stay was mostly uneventful.
We had a little problem with the reservation which was resolved; other than that this hotel is in a perfect location and a great value. Walking distance to many places with easy access, rooms were clean and cleaning staff were fast and unobtrusive. Front desk was helpful with any questions we had. Definitely would stay again and/or recommend to anyone.
Love this hotel. Will stay no where else in Chicago. Check in and check out was so easy. Price for in the city was great. Staff is awesome. Allowed early check in and held our bags after check out so we could enjoy almost two full extra days in the city. Pool was great. View from pool was awesome. Room service available, quick and fast and good. Staff is willing to help and give directions to where ever you needed to go. Suite was huge, bed was comfy. Housekeeping was great. Just an overall great experience. A++
The hotel was clean and updated. The staff was great. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was pleasant. The parking attendants were so nice. They gave us directions and ideas. The hotel restaurant had good food and service. Definitely recommend!
The housekeeping staff will steal your loose money. The front desk said that perhaps the staff thought it was a tip. A tip in the middle of my stay? How about when I had a DO NOT DISTURB sign up? Yep my room was entered, cleaned and money taken.
As far as the room goes:
The room looked nice
The walls are paper thin
The bed is very firm
The location is Great
Parking is secure
And the pizza in the restaurant was GREAT
Spent a few days with friends. We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is in a great location. The staff was wonderful. We decided we needed a bigger room and they were quick to accommodate us. We will definitely stay again.
We stayed there as a family of 4 for 3 days and it was well worth the money. The room was updated & clean. The location was awesome – 10 minute walk to Michigan Avenue, 30 minute walk to the Navy pier, near so many restaurants, both quick and sit-down dining. Yes the hotel is older. The hallways are narrow and the rooms are bit smaller than newer hotels. We had 2 small(ish) children so it was 1 adult & 1 kid per bed (full). I probably wouldn’t recommend a single room if you have teens, but it was fine for us. Yes you have to pay for parking, but that’s pretty standard & it was cheaper than some of the other places I researched. This hotel was cheaper than some of the surrounding hotels, so I was leery, but I was really happy with our decision and would stay there again.
Very nice location- within 1 mile of the cloud gate and Willis/Sears Tower. Many great restaurants and shops within 1/4-1/2 of mile away. The lobby and rooms are very nice. Elevators and hallways appear old, and the floor creaked at times while walking down the hall. Parking is at an added fee- $25 for parking overnight, $35 for in/out parking, but garage is connected to the hotel. No breakfast served.
Location is perfect for someone wanting to experience everything downtown Chicago has to offer. Within walking distance of pretty much everything. The room was decorated nicely and was clean. Coffee and tea and water in main lobby with seating. Very nice friendly employees and parking attendants. For the price it's a great spot for someone that doesn't need or want to spend a ton on a hotel or spend much time in it but wants to see everything Chicago has to offer.
I was MORE than impressed with this hotel. They were so easy going & relax about everything, nothing was a hassle. When you see the outside of hotel it's easy to think that it isn't nice but the rooms are nicer than 99% of other hotels. They're very roomy & modern looking. I would most definitely recommend staying here.
