A wonderful stay at a decent hotel that didn't drain my pocketbook. It was clean and quiet. I liked the wood floors as opposed to the dirty carpet in most hotels. I was happy with the mattresses on a platform instead of a box springs. No chance of bedbugs and less noisy when moving around. The management is excellent which is noted by the staff friendliness and quick to help. I will stay there again when I am in San Diego.
As a frequent traveler, Motel 6 is usually a mixed bag for me. But I have a son and a small dog who both travel with me, and finding pet-friendly motels at a good rate in a good location are very much a challenge. After reading good star ratings for cleanliness for this particular motel, I decided I would give it a try.
I was so pleased to find the reception at the front desk was so gracious and handled business so easily & quickly. After feeling like a room change would work better for us, the front desk was still just as gracious, quickly made arrangements, and followed up with a phone call to the room 10 minutes later to be sure we found it satisfactory. It was. My only frustration was a smoker outside, close to our door; but it was the professional courtesy and accommodation of the front desk, plus the cleanliness of the room and parking lot area that overwhelmed the downside.
I will be back to this one. I would love to see all Motel 6's hold to this standard. I would stay in them more often, and be grateful for the trusted option in all the locations we visit.
It would be interesting to visit all of the Motel 6 locations, as a single working/traveling mother, and see the differences between all the motels. I'd be curious to know if my mixed bag experiences so far are nationwide or just due to a few bad apples in the barrel.
Whatever the case, thumbs up to this one. Four stars only because: 1) we didn't have a Do Not Disturb sign available in our room 2) a guest dropped a vase of flowers in the parking lot close to us and it was 11 am before the broken glass was cleaned up.
Thank you.
The check-in staff was excellent. A great example of perfect customer service! The room seemed a bit rundown compared to other “updated” Motel 6’s. Had a moldy/smoky smell (the room was said to be non-smoking.) Lots of hairs on the blanket, blood stain on the pillow, heater/AC unit full of visible dust buildup on the louvers and smelled really musty. Smell in hallway very off putting. Location good for our needs for the night, but other locations have seemed much cleaner & better maintained overall.
Everything was terrific. We had our dogs with us and Motel 6 welcomed them without an outrageous fee. Our room was very clean, we especially liked the wood floors, and there was plenty of room for our dog kennels. The staff was friendly and helpful, pointing out close restaurants. The stay was great and we received high value.
If you are trying to find a place to just sleep this is perfect for you. My boyfriend and i got a weekend booked here and we loved it so much! Room was perfect for 2 people. Pool hours are amazing. Freeway is close by. The thing my boyfriend and i loved more was that they had 2 securities in the night patrolling everything. Definitely will come back costumer service was amazing by this worker name Vanessa. I really do wish they had a fridge though but ace was good! Price was more amazing and everything is close by in car !
There was a bad smell in my first room, the room I changed to had also a bad smell (not a smell of cigarettes, but it strongly smelled like an air freshener and chemicals). When I turned on a heater/ac, it was even smellier than before. During the night, there was a lot of noise coming from neighbors from the next floor. The shower, the lights in the room were also were loud. The floor was a little sticky. There was a urine smell from inside of the mattress in one of the beds. I would not recommend staying in this Motel 6. Better pay a little more and stay closer to downtown. In general, I am usually very happy with the chain.
Normally I quite satisfied with the hotel but after the experience I had with the manager Carlos I probably won't be returning and I think he should be fired for the way he treated me. I'll explain. I made my reservation 3 days in advance and asked for a specific room that I always get when I stay there, which is probably 10 or 15 times over the past few years for 2 or 3 days, but on this occasion it was only for the night. I checked in at 10pm and didn't get my usual room which wasn't that big of a problem other than it was a non smoking room. Then I realized I could stay at my girlfriend's house so I called the front desk at 10:23 to see if I could check out and not be charged and was told I missed that opportunity by 8 minutes. In any case I left the room and immediately check out and was told to call Carlos in the morning to see if I could get the charges dropped, which I did. This is where my dissatisfaction is arrived from. He told me he would have to check with housekeeping to see if anything had been used and I told him that I had only used the ice bucket. He said he would call me back. When he called back he said that the bed was slept in and all the towels had been used and I would be charged. When I told him that I had only used the ice bucket and didn't even sit on the bed he insinuated that I was lying and he hung up on me. Unless I am compensated for the room and the insult, I will never stay there again and certainly won't recommend it to anyone
The staff was friendly, the location was great and close to the beach and restaurants. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The blankets were a bit thin but it wasn't terrible. The price was extremely reasonable. I love that pets are allowed here. Highly recommend this place!
Overall we had a nice stay. The room was ready and clean. Only complaint was that there were not enough large towels. We had a double queen bed room and only two large towels for four people. I called the front desk they were very polite and said they would send some up, they never came. Good thing there was a cleaning lady down the hall that provided us some. Also, there was no hair blow dryer. I know it's not a.l big deal but every hotel I've stayed in has had one for convenience. I would recommend this hotel based on cleanliness, price, and location.
DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN!! My family and I stayed here during Labor Day weekend as the price was the most reasonable for us. There is no closet in the room. No dresser. A single night stand in the middle of the two beds and hard wood floors. There was no iron or coffee maker (usual staples in all hotel rooms) The first night we were awoken by partying neighbors and their loud music at around midnight. The front desk assured us security would take care of this. They did not. We were awoken again at about 4:30 am from the same partying neighbors who now had way too much to drink and were fighting. We called front desk again and realized security wouldn't be able to do much, so we had to call the cops. There is almost no water pressure, it took way too long to rinse off my toothbrush and wash my hair. The hot water was non existent after my husband took his shower. It was not a comfortable room with our two kids under 2. It would be ok for an adult by themselves or a couple without young kids, but we would have gladly paid an extra $30 a night to have had a good nights sleep.
As an ex-police officer I can assure you that there is a human trafficking issue at this hotel. The staff tries to secure the building by stopping cars after 10:00PM and checking the guest list. However, young girls were being brought into the hotel by men (pimps) who where not staying at the hotel by waiting by the door for hotel guest such as myself to open the door when exiting or entering. They then would take the stairwell so as to avoid a way for the guest to know what floor they are going to in order to deliver their prostitute. I had a hard time being questioned at the front of the motel when nothing was being done to lock down the building. I also had a hard time paying for a room where after 10:00 I was not "allowed" to have my college daughter visit my husband and me in our room, the reason we were in San Diego. I get what they are trying to stop but security is missing their mark! The rooms where what I would expect from a motel 6 and was pleased with the accommodations, I got what I paid for. Out of the five nights we stayed at the hotel we were woken three of the nights by an angry man banging on a neighboring door (a different door each night) looking for someone (maybe a working girl or someone who owed them money?). If the Motel 6 could get these issue resolved I would definitely stay here again as you can't beat the price. Clean it up and this would be a great place to say if you are looking for a deal. If you are naive to what is going on at this property you might be happy with the accommodations.
First of all, Debbie is the best front desk clerk in the entire hotel/motel industry!
This motel's proximity to the Hungry Hunter Steak House makes it a perfect choice!
The room wasn't quite up-to-snuff. I've stayed at this motel many times, and the rooms I've stayed were always great. This time I stayed in room #105. One of the bath towels was stained. The toilet float assembly needs to be replaced/adjusted.The giant bead of caulking around the tub was done by an amateur, and looks very tacky. It needs to be completely redone! The shower/bath faucet was loose. Lastly, there no lid on the toilet. Hence, the room is not pet-friendly.
So I stayed in room 150, an ADA room. The staff check in was wonderful. I really enjoyed the help of the lady at the counter. The room had an okay bed. One of them had a slight lump so I took the other. For what I paid, I can consider it fair. The issues I had were that the elevator on the end I was on was out. There was no advance notice of it being out; however, I found out it was out for some time with a repair to be done soon. The room itself smelled musty and had cigarette smells in it. The gray bathroom floor tile looked like it could use an old fashioned scrub. The ADA bench had some rust on one of the screws that caused issues with folding it. Unfortunately, there were noisy neighbors with kids that loved to talk loud and scream while walking the halls. It's grating during the day. At night I had to wonder what kind of parents are handling kids like that? Manners definitely went out with understanding that noise travels and conducts well on wood simulated floors. Finally, I was unaware that there were deluxe rooms vs. the one I got. I needed shampoo as I was out. That's when I went back to the desk and found out. The web never clarified the difference. However, they were nice and gave me the shampoo I needed.
I travelled quite a bit in the past year throughout the US and always tried to book into a Motel 6 as I agree with their policy of letting our animals remain with us in our rooms. In the past, a breakfast was offered. This perturbed me a bit as I could not have breakfast in my room (my stay was 4 days) as in the past Motel 6 offered something to eat in the morning (I must say I did not travel last year due to my husband's illness and passing). In addition, the company has cut back on amenities such as soap and shampoo. It is not a problem for me as I bring my own but for those not prepared, it is a surprise. I understand you have to cut back to make a profit, but for the price I paid, I felt I did not get any value.
Lastly, personnel were attentive, kind and very friendly. I hope they are appreciated by management.
The staff is friendly, location is awesome and convenient. The rooms are modern and very functional, I liked the shelves vs drawers. The beds were a bit firm though, and we couldn't get extra pillows because they said they ran out Saturday night. The pool is nice sized. Absolutely can't beat the price for what you get. I would go back if I'm on a tight budget 😀
