Very cheap rates. Clean and cozy rooms. Great room service. Convenient location near many places to enjoy. Good customer service.
Everything is severely dated. My room had several roaches. There was no bag in the trash can and no alarm clock. The channels on the television and quality are a joke, despite my initial low expectations. Highway traffic can be heard at night as well as the tram. I am giving it two stars rather than one just because they allow pets, but watch your step because there is dog feces on the parking lot😉
Ive stayed at this place a couple times and i kinda liked it. Its tucked away from all the hustle of town. But one room i got there did have a squishy carpet like if it had been wet. The price is great and staff are great. If your an economy shopper this is a great place
The location of the ez8 is great because it is right near one of the main trolley stops so you can get literally anywhere in San Diego In no time. Besides that the hotel itself is centered in a prime business location. There are stores and shops by the dozen in a few blocks radius. The hotel is older and it shows but it is safe and secure. It offers a pool and on-site laundry facilities too.
Room was clean. Water for the shower, nice & hot. Mattress was very hard. The train going by was loud & clear. Depending on any chiropractic issues the bed would either aggravate current symptoms or help. Bring your own pillows.
I am exceptionally dissatisfied with this motel. My experience began with the person at the front desk yelling at us because we were 30 minuets early. forgive me for being prompt. Next issue is my wife and I were there for five days so we requested that maid service did not clean our room because we had all our personal items out. Did they listen? course not. I had to remind them three times before I just gave up. The "hot tub" was warmish at best, but it was defiantly far from a relaxing hot tub. If you can afford it, go somewhere else.
Ha. This place is a joke. One: no pad locks on door, maid walked in on us because they also don't have "do not disturb" signs. Two: when we got there, the fridge door was open and we came to find out that the fridge doesn't even work. Three: there is a cop that stays on the premise at all time. This didn't make a feel safe at all. It felt sorta invasive. I saw cockroaches, black widows and other bugs in my room. There was a blood stain on the lamp shade, toilet was dirty was we got there, I mean the list goes on and on. I guess you get what you pay for. NOT RECOMMENDED.
This place is gross! The rooms smell like someone spilled old lady perfume all over the place. Now at 10 pm I am starting to get whiffs of the odors that they were trying to cover up. I asked to change rooms because of my asthma and they said no. Burns in everything. The beds are like a wood plank. I just wanted to sleep but at this point the car is sounding like a better option. TV barely works. Cooler smells like a bar.
My family and I have stayed at this motel several times over the last few years. Some experiences have been better than others but this stay has been exceptional. Everything seems a lot cleaner and I have seen more cleaning people than I have in the past. An important tip for anyone thinking about staying here would be to request a smoke free room on the 1st floor. If you get a smoking room you will regret it. Pros: the location is perfect, the beds are comfortable, they have a mini fridge in the room to keep snacks and drinks cold, they have a clean pool, and free coffee in the lobby and it's very reasonably priced compared to other motels in San Diego. Cons: parking is tight, and the tv is a bit small.
For plain and simple this is it. Great security at night. We felt our vehicles were very well watched. No one gets on the property unless your staying there. Overall good feelings.

I only gave this place two stars because thats what the hotel advertises to be a two star hotel. How I look at it they got one star for price can't call it value just price. And they some how just qualified for that second star in my opinion the cleaning staff. They are the only ones that work at this hotel that actually smiled and did there job well for what they had to work with. My mom taught me to always see the brighter side of things even if you don't see them right away there there you just have to keep an open mind. Well with this place not only do you need an open mind but a 55 million candle power light, night vision goggles, or maybe a 500 Christmas tree bonfire would help in your quest to see the brighter side. Just my opinion of coarse.
Pros: Motel is easily accessible to old Town San Diego and the freeways. It's a place to rest your head for a simple night. They have a swimming pool, a/c, and some security. Cons: People at the front desk were not helpful or polite. Hospitality is definitely lacking. Entering this particular area of Pacific Highway made us feel a little uneasy. The motel is literally underneath the bridge of the freeway. Across the street were plenty of homeless, dirty rv's, trash and just did not feel safe. The Motel was pretty dirty looking on the outside and the rooms were dirty too. We opened the door to a room that smelled like someone left an old fridge door opened. It was pretty funky smelling and then we realized there was an old broken fridge door opened. The sink was rusting through and had a big hole. The furniture was basic and a little outdated. No wifi. The television only had four channels and in the morning I found an fake eyelash near my pillow. Luckily we survived the night.
No, just no. Everything about this place was messed up. The beds we're completely different heights and super hard. The bathroom door would not close no matter what you did. There were practically no charge outlets anywhere. The whole neighborhood was sketchy and there was solid concrete beneath the bed. No carpet. The pictures are VERY misleading. The one good this was that the lady was nice upon checkin and when we left asking for our money back almost immediately. Do Not Stay here.
Not much of a motel really. I imagine this hotel caters to the more frugal of mind. The staff was pleasant enough but overly cautious, though better so than not. They provide reasonable and courteous security, especially after hours. It's not considered in the very best part of San Diego but it certainly is not in the worst of our beautiful city. You're not necessarily bothered by the freeway intersection a stone's throw above you, and it's a quick jaunt to everything nice. Weekly Riff Raff to short business trip minded people on a low budget may probably find this motel will at least meet their basic need of sleep, fresh beds and clean bathrooms.
