The Double Tree is secluded in the back of the Hazard Complex. It's a very central location in the heart of San Diego. San Diego's nicest mall is just across the freeway. Hazard Center and Mission Valley have tons of restaurants. The trolley system is also a short 5 min walk away. The hotel itself is nice, although rooms facing the freeway can be loud.

The hotel is good enough. I have stayed here many times. The breakfast buffet is acceptable if it's free, but not good enough to pay for. The beds are comfortable. Other guests can be very noisy and the rooms have no soundproofing. The wifi works well enough for basic browsing but I was disconnected a few times for seemingly no reason.

The rooms were nice but the beds are "Standard Queens" which seem smaller than what you would usually call a queen bed. The bathroom doors are sliding doors that don't lock and do little to block any noise so only share a room with people that you're okay with walking in on. The system for the elevator is horrible. Always fills the elevators to the brim and take forever to get to you. Otherwise, beds are comfortable, the pools and rec room are nice, and the breakfast is good too! Not a bad hotel, just a little quirky.

This is a nice hotel in a great location. We stayed there for a full week. Housekeeping was respectful and consistent in taking care of our space. There was no lock on the bathroom door (within the room), which I thought was odd. The room itself did NOT have a microwave or refrigerator, although they were available upon request for an additional $10/night each. You'd think for the amount we paid to stay there, they'd at least have a microwave and a refrigerator in the room. Even ghetto hotels have those (which this is definitely NOT ghetto). Againodd. The indoor pool is nice. Not fancy, but sufficient. The outdoor pool, hot tub, and patio area is really nice. The workout facility is quite large with up to date equipment. Beautiful area. I'd stay here again if I needed a hotel in the area. Great experience.

Great service. Friendly and responsive.. A culture of excellence is evident amongst the staff. There was a staff with a heavy accent (Boston I think), very pleasant and intentional about making you feel welcomed. My reservation was last minute and I received a great rate and free upgrade due to it being a vowel renewal honeymoon 💜. I would visit again. Breakfast was a bit pricey, but optional. Gym exceeded my expectations. Great experience.

The rooms were nice. The hotel is nice. However, I was disappointed that the rate they charged us was higher than the posted rate for the evening. Booking ahead seemed to hurt us in this case. Also, they charge $24 for overnight parking. Expensive for a quick get away on a Sunday night.

Had business training in one if their boardrooms. Very courteous staff, room was clean, they provided water and glasses to each table. Would go to another training/meeting here.

Wow.75$a day for security deposit for "Incidentals "24$ a day to parkso, just to stay here it is $100/day BEFORE the room rate..want a nice weekend getaway? Not here if you want to afford to do anything else!! I have hundreds of thousands of Hilton pointswill NOT be using them for Doubletree. ..ever.and, your cookie was burnt! Ugh

Great place to stay. Beds are very comfortable. Parking would have cost $24 a day, but since we had a handicap tag it was free. One con was if you wanted a fridge in the room it would cost $10 a day. The breakfast buffet was $18, but if you ordered from the menu you paid about the same. So just go to the Pronto cafe ( Starbucks) and get their breakfast sandwiches. Very nice pool and hot tub. At night there are two large fire pits with very comfortable chairs. Just wish it was a non-smoking area. All in all we enjoyed our stay and recommend the hotel. The staff was very nice.

We loved how clean this place was. The food and beverage manager was over the top with information on nearby restaurants. Todd the concierge was also very helpful when it came to restaurant
s. He was the friendly welcoming face at the end of each day and got us another wonderful 310 calorie cookie when we asked for it. 😀

The stay was awesome. My whole family enjoyed the stay, beds were clean, room was clean, bathroom was clean. Can't ask for anything more. They had breakfast downstairs. If you pick up a package with breakfast, it's worth it. They had an omelette station, hot foods, juices, coffee, yogurts, etc. Very clean hotel. Note: you have to pay for parking, which was $24/day when I was there. I just parked outside on the street. Other than that, it's right across the street from the Tram, so you can go all over San Diego from here. Very convenient location and right next to a ton of shops. Will come again!

Go here! Immaculately clean rooms. Great hotel staff. Kids loved free cookies in the evening. Prime location. The place feels alive and bright. Would say that self parking does have a charge per night but is worth it! Will definitely it'll return.

The Hotel gave us an extremely clean room with a warm, welcoming front desk. Only drawback to the rooms were that the walls seemed a bit thin: at times you would be able to hear the other guests in the neighboring rooms, and when someone would open/shut the room doors. The location is perfect in that it's about 20minutes away from most San Diego attractions. Other than the walls, I would highly recommend staying here.

This hotel is located in the center of a golf course in the hills just east of the ocean. Beautiful adobe style building with four pools and lots of grounds and trails for walking. The staff is first class, friendly, accommodating and very helpful. We had a suite which was large and comfortable. It was complete with a fire place and TVs everywhere. Their soaps, shampoo, conditioners and body creams were all very nice. This hotel is what you expect from the Fairmont collection

This DoubleTree is an older property that has begun renovations. The guest rooms appear to have been completed and new, enter-your-floor-before-you-get-on elevators were in the process of being installed during my visit. (A good thing too, because one of the existing old elevators had a nasty habit of stopping on both floors 7 and 8 when only 8 was pressed.) The property is not the most modern, but rooms are of good DoubleTree/Hilton-style quality and made for pleasant accommodations during my stay in February 2016.

Of the two pools, it felt like only the indoor pool was heated. Pool towels were a little hard to come by, but I was able to find some in the men’s locker room / restroom. That said, the pool is located conveniently close to the Windows Lounge hotel bar and grill, making it extra convenient to acquire poolside snacks.

Though Mission Valley is not in the thick of downtown San Diego, the trolley-adjacent location can't be beat if you want easy access to the city at a competitive price without renting a car or over-Ubering it. The San Diego River nature area is right across the street from the hotel and offers an outdoor opportunity to get a workout without restricting yourself to the hotel gym. In addition to being attached to a modest shopping center, full-size malls are present one trolley stop away in either direction.

Overall, a good bet if you want convenient transit access to the city without staying in the thick of the city. Added to my shortlist of San Diego lodging options.
