We planned on staying 2 nights because a relative was in the hospital near there. We paid for both nights in advance. Our relative passed away and we didn't need to stay there any longer. They gave us there condolences and refunded us the night we didn't use. Very nice people.

Room was clean, heater worked good. The next morning, I went to take a shower and there was no hot water. So I went ahead and took a cold shower. When I checked out they gave me a 25 percent discount so was nice.

Was a good place to stay for a night or so. No it is not the Ritz carlton, but it never claimed it was. It was worth the price of admission. Yes i would stay here again great for the budget..

Old, not clean. Had to wash bathroom floor as even our flip flops were sticking to it.
Staff pleasant. Would not stay again.

It wasn't bad everything was fine really it's just a small room my only real complaint was that I couldn't turn the television up but that's not the first hotel I've been to that does that, the people that work there were attentive and it was clean

Staff was friendly but the hotel itself is awful. The exterior is very deceiving. The rooms were small and outdated. I felt like I was in a motel. Room was not cleaned (there was a Burger King wrapper under the bed). Pillows were flat. The a/c unit had so much filth in the vent we turned it off because we didn’t want to breathe it in. I booked a non-smoking room but there was still an ashtray and the room reeked of cigarettes. I would NOT recommend staying here EVER unless they renovated the hotel. I also did not like that the rooms were nonrefundable. There are many hotels in the area and I would recommend any of them over the Microtel by Wyndham.

This is a motel. Very run down. The smell in the hallways and stairs is awful. Dirty rooms makes you feel so uncomfortable. Stayed 2 nights and will not be back. Got in the room the second day at 445 and no one had been in the clean or put new towels in. Very disappointed in the whole experience. Would not recommend to anyone.

Terrible experience! First, the person at the front desk had trouble processing my payment and needed to call the manager several times. Even after speaking with my bank, he was still convinced that my money wasn't good. After he manager talked him through different steps to process my payment, I was given a room that was already occupied by someone. He called the room but no one answered, and he provided me with another room. This room was dirty. Bed not made at all, towel on the floor directly behind the entrance door, and the door was cracked open. By this time he was agitated with me like I done something wrong and made a statement that "this was the most anyone has came down with a problem" like he didn't believe me but clearly each room was a mess. So finally he walked me to the last room that I was checked into to make sure it was "good," which I did not mind at all. But as we got to the room there was trash in the trash can, make up on the pillows, and hair embedded into the wash clothes which I had to come up to the front to show and have switched. These are all the things that was visible to myself and the Front desk associate. Now these things may be small, but who wants to wash their face with some pubic hairs on the wash cloth, or lay in someone else make-up. Now if the room was free, then I shouldn't complain, but I paid to stay in a comfortable room that should have already been clean and inspected before anyone was allowed to enter.

We were in town for a family wedding and booked the Microtel in Winston Salem because of the pricing. We've stayed at Microtels before and always had a good experience. This was no exception. The staff was helpful and our room was great. The only hiccups were how the breakfast area is set up (which seems to be typical of many hotels), and our TV didn't have a remote.

Check in process was hassle free. Check out time is also later than what I'm used to - checkout was noon. Room was a bit dated but clean. The room I had was only one bed and the room was sized just enough to fit the bed with space to walk around. There was an ironing board in the room but no iron. Wifi was included but slow. There was an option to watch an ad for faster internet but it would still buffer often when watching YouTube videos. Breakfast was included as well. Service overall was good. The price was great as well! I have not seen manu places around the country at the price point of this hotel that also includes breakfast. I was pleased with my stay here.

I am writing this review because of the appalling customer service of this hotel specifically.

We booked two nights with Microtel at $175/night as it was a good location and a medium priced hotel. We immediately flooded the bathroom as the flush abutted the vanity and got stuck without our knowledge. The concierge was helpful stating he could get everyone called in to fix it, however given it was 3am we decided to go to bed instead. We were afraid to use the toilet thereafter. The furniture was scuffed, the vanity and toilet veneers were peeling, there was mold along the shower, and we found soap in the shower that did not belong to us. Given these things (which would be expected at in an $80/night hotel, NOT a $175/night one) we decided to move hotels and asked for a refund for the night we were not going to be staying, NOT for the night we stayed.

At the front desk during checkout the concierge was pleasant but stated the manager who oversaw these issues was not in and was "strict" about refunds.

I contacted Wyndham headquarters to open a claim and eventually was told that as they do not own individual hotels AND we booked through a 3rd party (expedia) they were unable to refund us or intervene in any way.

So I reached out to this Microtel directly. I was told that the manager, Tonya Hill, "declined" to speak to me and declines to refund us.

We did enjoy a pleasant night at La Quinta Inn, just down the road, for a mere $25 extra dollars per night.

Despite the tone of this review I promise I have been courteous and have never raised my voice or been rude to anyone who I have spoke with about this issue. Honestly, the Wyndham headquarters employees were all very pleasant but unhelpful because they were not in a position to do so. I have also NEVER spoken to the manager at Microtel so am unsure why she is refusing to speak with me.

As I am now at a loss to obtain any results I am spreading the word so other customers are not subjected to the frustrating treatment we received.

    Good value. Staff friendly
Room incredibly small, no fridge, something sticky and yucky on the floor. Bathtub wouldn't drain properly.

Staff was courteous and friendly. Check in and check out went smoothly. But there could have been an improvement in the overall cleanliness of the facility. The continental breakfast had little to offer.
