I just want to say that this hotel is very pretty. However, we came for the Christmas brunch and I was so thoroughly disappointed. The food that was supposed to be hot was cold. The food wasn't the quality of food I was hoping for at this hotel. Maybe don't leave the lids only covering half of the food? Just a thought. The room where we were seated was cold as well and had no music. The room on the other side was warm, so we got the short end of the straw. Only one glass of champagne was included in the price. If I'm spending $50 a person then that better include bottomless mimosas. The only good thing included was the valet, which goes for $28, so that was nice. All in all, was it worth the price? Not even close. Go somewhere else next time

The hotel is classic and beautiful, they've kept all the best parts of its history on display. (And there's a LOT of history to be had when it comes to the Menger.) It's very well kept and the staff are relentlessly kind and impeccably professional. The pool and the garden are BEAUTIFUL and well kept, even in the winter. I was ecstatic to have a room directly looking out onto the garden. The Menger is less than a 5 minute walk from both The Alamo and the Riverwalk and it was very easy to visit both even though I was only there for one evening. It is alleged to be haunted and I couldn't help but to go explore in the middle of the night. I'm well aware that the staff did not have to accommodate this in any way, however, they were very nice and did so anyway. I would love to stay at the Menger Hotel again and I intend to do so the next time I'm in San Antonio.

I attended a Christmas party at the Menger Hotel. I had a great experience! The every staff member I encountered was friendly and courteous. Their valet is comparable in price to self parking in the area, but was extremely convenient. The party was elegant and ran very smoothly. I would recommend to other corporate groups interested in booking their services.

This is more of a (disappointed) experience.I spent my anniversary at the Colonial restaurant. there, I had a great experience. It happened when I needed to use the restroom. The nearest one was closed for cleaning. I desperately needed to go. I asked this (old, balding, male) Grinch looking front desk staff member, Do you have a second restroom.? The one over there is closed. His reply (with attitude) 'second hallway.' I lookedI see 1 hallway. So, there I go. Then he yells, 'right there. You passed it.' it's was in front of the 'Menger bar'. Thinking, you could have just said, down the hall to you left. (Okay, guy. Remember one rule in the hotel business. "Always treat the people with kindness." If not, you get me writing a BAD review about YOU. (Note: if you see him. Look for someone else. His not a peoples person) 😕/😀

The history in San Antonio is rich and I don't think my experience would have been complete if not for my stay and the Menger Hotel. I had the privilege of staying in the original part of the hotel. Yes, the floors creaked, yes it was dated, BUT I would expect that from any place that has been around since the 1800's. Staff was friendly and greeted me whenever we crossed paths. The rooms were cleaned up nice, and the interior looks beautifully. I especially love the swing and big band music that played throughout the lobby. It is also walking distance to everything worth seeing downtown and across the street from The Alamo. I recommend anyone visiting to stay at this hotel. This place is lovely.

The Colonial Dining Room lunch buffet is the best kept secret in town. Excellent food, excellent service. Free valet parking, validate ticket at the restaurant. We celebrate all special occasions there.

Clean hotel, courteous staff, and fantastic decor. Within a walk of anywhere and carriage rides if you want then. Ripley's Believe it or Not is across the road and plenty of things to do. Second time coming here and will visit again in the next few years. I removed a star because I feel staff or security needs to clean up the beggars. I'm no city boy but I'm also no stranger to the city. The amount of beggars is ridiculous here. I lost count of how many times I was asked for change yet job signs are right in front of them. One beggar was right outside the antique and jewellery store at the Menger.

Beautiful hotel, it looks like a museum and it sure represents history. Very attentive staff and rooms were very nice decorated, clean and neat. The gym is small (3 treadmills, 2 elliptical, 1 bicycle, and dumbbells) but a basic workout can be done. Pool area is very nice. Good location, you can walk to anyplace in downtown area.

Wonderful views inside and in the garden areas. Customer Service was top notch, thanks to employees such as, but not limited to, Justin at the Check-In counter and Sonia in the restaurant. An elevator was under repair while there, but it wasn't a bad inconvenience. The bar was good too. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend to others.

I loved this hotel. I don't think you could have found a more attentive staff around. While the room was a bit small, it was beautifully furnished and I couldn't complain as we were staying in the "historic" part of the hotel. The hotel was beautiful to look at in all aspects; the lobby was spacious, the garden was natural and inviting, and the pool looked awesome and refreshing. Thanks guys.

Menger Hotel has one of the best locations for tourists in San Antonio. The Alamo was right across the street, along with the various other attractions available. The lobby and pool areas are nice and have an interesting (in a good way) feel to them. With the bar and shows, there is plenty to do within the hotel as well. The service was quick and we had no problems with our stay.

I only visited this hotel to use the fitness center. The fitness center is small with a couple of treadmills, ellipticals, and free weights. Overall, nothing special but good enough to get a decent workout. The garden and pool areas are quite beautiful. The hotel is tastefully decorated and very clean. The hotel is minutes away from the River walk and across the street from the Alamo.

Menger Hotel has an interesting origin story, and it shows when you walk in. The hall is lined with old photographs and historic artifacts which really make it feel like a part of Texas history. The location and service are second to none. From the moment I arrived until I left, I had the impression that the employees were truly happy to be there and whether it was true or not, it made a wonderful atmosphere! And although I ended up feeling unwell during my stay, the location is perfect - easy walking distance from everything downtown San Antonio has to offer. Finally, the room itself - it was adequate. It was cozy, well furnished. The bed was a bit too firm for me but there were lots of pillows. The water pressure in the shower was almost too much but felt great! Unfortunately a malfunctioning drain forced me out thanks to rapidly filling (though if I'd wanted a bath that would have been nice). And the room service was nice and convenient but not worth the price. Overall the minor issues weren't enough to break the trip though, and I would recommend it to others. I'm sure I'll be back!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Menger Hotel! It is conveniently located, and the historic charm of the hotel lends to the experience of San Antonio. Since the hotel was originally built in the late 1800's, it's impossible to compete with more modern hotels, but the character more than makes up for it. We were treated to a mini-tour, and given some interesting history about the hotel. We really enjoyed it, and look forward to returning.

The absolute best place for my daughter's wedding reception in March and the weekend events! Venue has abundant elegance & charm. Staff were professional and courteous. Suites were fantastic. And the food was delicious. If you seek historic ambiance, downtown convenience and a truly Texan experience, this is your place!!!!
