Love this place. Jackie at front desk is great. Arrived super early and she let me have my pass for parking. Even pushed to get my room ready quick and gave me info to call and check on it.
The room with kitchen is awesome. lots of room. Nice to have tile floors fresh paint. This is not a new place. Pool is clean. My room clean. Around some edges some paint repair needed or outside minor repair needed. Gives it a great beach feel. We are booking here next year as well. Comfortable living space.response / report this review -

All about that ocean side view. Everything else is pretty standard or dated. The place feel old but it's clean. Worth it (with a deal)for the view and easy access to the beach, but the room itself is barely decent.

What a wonderful experience. I was hesitant at first because of their 3 star rating.
I don't understand why but everyone has different ideas of awesome. I'm sure that's why we were able to get a room the day of! Yes the place is older, a little weathered and one can understand why.
Once in to the room, it was beautiful, clean and comfortable.
The view was outstanding.
The staff was so helpful and willing to do what ever necessary to make our stay comfortable.

Not bad for the price. Room was clean, the front desk was extremely helpful. Even partial ocean view was still amazing. Loved the fact that we had a private porch. The downside was that the "heated" pool was ice cold, and the hot tub was down. The walls in the room were paper THIN to the point where we would have swore they were in the same room with us.

There is a lovley unhurried charm here reminiscent of a bygone era. You won't find the stuffiness of your typical cookie-cutter chain hotel here.
What you will find is Steve, Frank, and Christina among others to greet you with a warm smile and helpful, friendly demeanor. We stayed here October 22-23 with a very late, ( 6 p. m.) checkout for a small addtional fee. We hated to leave our ocean front patio next to the pool with its quiet restful breezes.
Our room was clean, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed to cook a simple meal. This is where you come as a guest and leave as family.
Do yourself a favor and stay at Makai. Be sure to tell Steve and the gang Cynthia says "hi. "response / report this review -

Have a wonderful time there thanks to the company I had with me. The brochures are way better than the quality of the room. Staff was nice. We did have a water leak in room which was a mess. Mid level quality room at best but the views were great and beach was a blaat!

I have been here twice with my fiance's family, and the first time it wasn't bad at all. We had a full sized kitchen that was separate from the beds & the furniture was really nice. This time we got an ocean front room and the furniture was crappy, the kitchen was right there in the room, the bathroom was dinky, the air didn't work, and you could smell people smoking marijuana everywhere. I really have nothing against it, but they are all no smoking, and it just annoyed me because I don't want my entire room to smell like weed. Anyhow, the second night we stayed, the weather got pretty bad, and we were finally getting to enjoy the hot tub when it picked up, our air conditioner unit flew out of it's UNSECURED spot and we had to switch rooms. Luckily we still got ocean view, but what's the point when the weather was as crazy as it was. Not to mention, that's when we got stuck beside the pot head neighbors. It was just a terrible experience for us all. The beds sounded like they were going to fall apart. Oh and how could I forget they still wanted to charge us $20 for a late check out. Considering all that we went through at this hotel, they should have just let us leave a little late. We won't be back. I will say on a more positive note, the young men that had to literally crawl out on a ledge to retrieve said air conditioner unit were very nice & kind. We did appreciate them. Also the water pressure was nice. Lol.

We love coming here. We try to get here at least twice a year. The staff are friendly and helpful. The newly renovated rooms are great. Lovely view. Awesome pool and easy beach access. We love it.

This hotel was not the way it was described. The breakfast was not usually in the breakfast room most mornings it was in the lobby on a bar type thing. Said it ended at 10am went to breakfast at 9am and it was almost all gone. If it says 10am it would last the entire time. Housekeeping was non existent. The 1st day i told her towels were Good enough but the next day We left the room so she could clean but nothing. 2 tiny trash cans over flowing and towels piled up from previous days. I has to go to front desk to get clean towels and trash bags. Then the next day housekeeping brought in towels changed trash bags and made 1 bed. Didn't check balcony or leave toilet paper shampoo soap nothing. Very disappointing. Balcony door was hard to open and never closed all the way. Shower was hard to turn off ad water dripped the entire tine. Front door was hard to latch one day was not latched and open and we didn't realize it till we got back. Person closing pool was rude to my daughter. Yes it was closing time but 13 year olds don't pay attention to time didn't need to be rude when I was even there getting her out. Hotel was not very clean to start with. Location was nice and beach was quiet. And staff in the lobby was always friendly. Not planning on going back to this hotel. Not worth the money at all.

I stayed here with my boyfriend in nov 2016 and we were pleased with the customer service and room availabilities and rates. However we stayed again this weekend and were so disappointed. There was trash left in our room from the previous guests. The couch was very stained and dirty, as well as the fridge. The bathroom was nasty and the floor in the entire hotel was just as bad ,if not worse, than a public bathroom. Our room was at the end and only had half of a balcony with the wall patched on the outside. Not only that, we paid for an ocean front hotel and were given a "partial ocean view" room. Only one employee was empathetic and apologetic about our stay and tried to accommodate. The others barely made eye contact and did nothing to try and make our stay better. We will not be staying here any more and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

DO NOT STAY HERE. The room didn't look ANYTHING like the pictures posted on the website. I ended up paying over 200 for ONE night in a disgusting room. The "bbq/backyard" was extremely trashy, the cabinets were torn, the stove was rusted, the bathroom was so nasty I didn't even want to shower in there and the kitchen light wouldn't turn on. I tried to get some of my money back but instead they (Steve) offered 50% off my next stay.. there will never be another stay there. He even admitted that my room wasn't the best and that the other rooms was like a "Night and day difference". Worse place I have ever stayed at in my life. I wish I would have taken more detailed pictures but I never thought I was going to have to report it until they refused to give me any money back. I wouldn't even pay $50 to stay here.

TERRIBLE ! Paid for ocean view but the only view we had was a nasty, dirty courtyard behind the kiddie pool. Room was dirty and beds were uncomfortable. Asked to change rooms and was told nothing else was available. The three police cars that showed up and hauled at least one woman away were a bonus. Will absolutely NOT be back. Hotel a few doors down has nearly the same rate and is cleaner, newer, nicer

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! The room we stayed in was filthy, didn't even look like it was cleaned, floor was disgusting I didn't even want to walk on it barefoot, shower was moldy, hair was all in the tub, I could go on! Before seeing the room my Husband and I thought about two nights but just paid for one THANK GOD! Not to mention, we both ended up sick the night we stayed there, how convenient! Wouldn't be surprised if we caught something from that filthy ass room. Save your money, I'm sure there's better and cleaner hotels for less a night and your time will be much more enjoyable!
