This is a great place to stay if you're an average Joe with youngish kids. It's not a place for snobs. Carlos at the poolside bar will amaze you with his service and patience. The staff is kind and attractive. The food is great and kids won't get bored if you promise to supervise them. If you are looking for a safe family-oriented place to roost while you get your Disney on, this is the spot. Again, it's not for snobs, which is probably the greatest part about it.
Maingate lakeside was a great value. It had a surprising number of amenities including shuttle service to/from the theme parks. Also it is within walking distance to a Walgreens, mini golf course, and several fast food places. Breakfast was not included but available, though it wasn't that great. Poolside bar was cool at night.
The sleep I got here was awesome. Clean bed, super clean bathroom, old style rooms from the 70's but it was cool. I was brought back to feeling like a kid. The place is beautifully full of so much potential. All it needs is to be polished if nostalgia is what you are looking for then this is the place for you. There are no bells and whistles of today at this resort. It is a place that is affordable to catch your breath after being at the park if all you want to do is get under the blankets and fall asleep to the T.V. It's a really really big guest house that you would find in the movie "Cars" it is "The Cozy Cone" in real life.
I reserved this "resort" on priceline and it was labeled as a 3 out 5 star hotel which is why I reserved it. At purchase I was advised that I could choose my bed at check in. At first sight I knew I had made a mistake because the sign that could bee seen from the street was faded and dirty. The buildings were in desperate need of pressure washing and also dingy looking. I was staying in this area for my honeymoon so when I got here I asked for a single king bed, but instead I was advised the reservation could not be changed and my husband and I had to sleep on a full size bed. The carpet was disgusting. There were stains throughout the entire floor. I refused to walk on the floor without something on my feet. Everything was dirty from the ironing board to the spacing in between the remote control. I would not stay here again and it definitely should not be labeled a 3 star resort. It's more like a motel you pay by the hour.
Totally impressed by this place. Inexpensive yet clean with friendly staff. The room is big. Two full beds, a table with two chairs, a chest of drawers, wardrobe, flat screen tv with better quality picture than we had at the Disney resort hotels. The room isn't fancy or modern, but it's clean, roomy, and comfortable. Great breakfast buffet. Our family of 4 ate for under $20. There is a Pizza Hut Express on-site and a deli/convenience store open from 11 am to late into the evening. There are two clean pools, two kiddie pools, and two playgrounds. Plenty of parking. There is a Wendy's and a Walgreen's you can get to directly from the parking lot. Tons of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel itself is practically on Disney property, it's so close to Animal Kingdom. We will definitely stay here again.
You get what you pay for. Resort could use some updating, but rooms are relatively clean. Breakfast buffet was better than expected. Super close to Disney parks. Not a bad choice if you're just looking for a decent bed to sleep in.
I wish I could've gotten a refund. The pictures on traveling websites are false advertisement, this "resort" is more of a motel. The room itself was littered with different colored hairs, stained sheets, the aroma of stale food and mold. The shower was stained black with hairs I can only assume were pubic hairs and small blood spots. After the first night, we went to the front desk to tell them about the condition of the room, and they told us that their new cleaning staff might not have known to check off something saying if the room had been clean or not and that they may have given us a dirty room. They told us to stay out of our room from 7 am to 3 pm so they could clean it and that they would waive the resort fee. We stayed out of the room and came back to find that only the sheets had been changed and the rest of the room was still filthy. Upon checkout, the fee was not waived as promised. We were unable to use the shower for the two days we were there and the maids bursted into our room at 8 am when checkout was 12 pm. Absolutely disgusted, you could have paid less for a motel with the same service!
Four years ago we stayed here and had fond memories. This time our memories will not be good. It took them a long time to get us checked in, and when we got in our room there were fleas. We were in the room not even five minutes and we were breaking out in hives due to the flea bites. When we went to tell them and to cancel our reservation they told us we were put in a pet room. We did not have pets. I feel bad for those who do have pets because they would be covered by fleas. I walked to the bathroom and had 12 on me before leaving. They still charged us the resort fee of $11 even though we didn't stay. We are still struggling to get a refund.
We paid a perfectly sensible price for a very clean and comfortable room. The grounds are reasonably well cared for and located close to a variety of tourist destinations. The facility is a little dated, but the furniture is quite new, if not exactly high-end. For those not looking to spend a huge amount of time at an extravagant resort, this place is a great deal. Upon arriving, it is evident that you will find a fair variety of food options on site and there are several affordable options off site. There are a lot of eccentric and affordable gift shops nearby. Kids will appreciate the game room and adults may enjoy the poolside bar. If you have time, you may find the pool quite enjoyable.
Everything was perfect!! good customer service. The only thing was 1 of the towels had some weird spots that looked like blood or make-up so I didn't use it but you could smell they were bleached and cleaned just with spots. After all everything was perfectly cleaned and the room had good space. "Check your towels before putting on the racks"
After reading other reviews I was worried. However once arrived in the room it's what a three star hotel should be, not fancy, slightly run down but this is matched by the low price. The shuttle bus to disney was great. It was perfect for us, lovely pool area location was spot on. However I did find the staff to be poor. I can't say they help once and also food was poor. This does not include the housekeepers they were lovely and did a good job. Luckily the location you can walk to one of the 10-20 food places within a 200 yard radius.
Main gate resort is in a great location only 10-15 minutes from Disney Parks. The rooms are decent sized and have a fridge and plenty of room for all of your stuff. Don't expect luxury. You get what you pay for. The carpets are relatively clean although I did see a few small stains. The toilet in our room was leaking and the cleaning staff neglected to remove an old towel that was hanging on the back of the bathroom door. The pool is fine. Most of the umbrellas did not function but it was a fine place to cool off after a long morning at the parks.
Cons: Check in took forever at night. They do not answer their phone when you're trying to reach the help desk. The restaurant had no food in the evening. The tub can be cleaner. Buffet Breakfast is almost $10 and that doesn't include your juice, milk, coffee which costs $2 more. I think it should be included in the price.
Pros: Checkout was easy in the morning. Overall clean room for the price. No noise. Cold AC. Professional servers at the restaurant. Easy parking, hotel is located on a road with many food, gas options.
Stayed here for one week as part of our honeymoon. Upon arrival we weren't immediately welcomed by the staff, but once we were the person on the desk seemed to search for a nice room for our stay which was appreciated. The female staff member on the ticket desk was quite rude once we informed her we didn't want to spend our honeymoon at a presentation and immediately pulled her phone out to watch videos and completely ignored us from this point.
The bed was comfortable and the room is equipped with a fridge, air con, TV and a safe. Plenty of storage space for unpacking your cases too.
Unfortunately the walls seem to be paper thin as our first two nights were disturbed by guests in the next room. And as you can see from the pictures, our door had a massive gap at the bottom and the room had a lot of mould. Mainly on the curtain above the air con and around the inside of the bathroom door. The tap wasn't attached to the base of the sink either.
The air con unit is quite noisey and can disturb sleep when it kicks in during the night. Something it does regularly in order to keep the room comfortable.
If, like us, you are just looking for somewhere inexpensive to sleep during your visit then you could do a lot worse.
My son and I absolutely LOVED this hotel! The pools were amazing, the restaurants were amazing and I can't say enough about every single staff member that we met. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. I literally felt like I was at home. The rooms were cleaned every single day and cleaned very well by housekeeping. This is a great location because you are near EVERYTHING! Everything you'll need is in walking distance! We were allowed early check in, the room was easy to locate as well as the pools, game room, restaurants and staff. This hotel is definitely worth staying at! My son and I will definitely be back with more family and friends to join us! Thank you Maingate! :)
