I stayed in room 208 for 2 days this week in this hotel. This was by far one of the worst room that i have ever stayed. After first night i gave the front desk a list of items that needs to be fixed in the room. I was hoping it would get fixed by the time i got back. But it did not. Also the lift was not working during the time i stayed there. Avoid this hotel if you have another choice

If there were zero stars i will definitely put zero!!! Their prices are ridiculous expensive they charge you card without letting you know what are they charging for. Parking was $48 and we paid $85 without knowing what else we were charged for. Horrible customer service.

Great little botique hotel. Older building that needs a little work here and there, awesome staff and great amenities. Awesome value!

Not the best Kimpton in DC but still very nice with fun, modern decor and a very friendly staff. When I asked if there was supposed to be red wine in the mini bar, I was told they didn't have any at the moment but they'd send me up a glass from the bar for free! Be sure to sign up for and use Kimpton Karma (free rewards system). Each visit you get free wifi and $10 mini-bar credit (try the cheese crunchies - I always get these). There are free bikes to borrow and this location at the base of DuPont is really convenient to shops, restaurants, bars, Metro, etc.

This hotel offers a great location and comfortable rooms at a reasonable price. The staff treated us really well, always friendly and went the extra mile to make sure that we got what we needed in terms of service and amenities. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you to all of the staff for all of your help, kindness and consideration

Not Expected from a Kimpton Property

We decided to do a last-minute "staycation" to celebrate our anniversary. Upon checking in at Topaz, the clerk could not find our reservation, even after we gave him our confirmation number. His colleague told him that he was in another property's reservation page.

However, after this snafu our room was not ready at check-in time and we were told to wait in the bar area for 30 minutes. The bar was closed and had dirty dishes and glasses on it and in the surrounding area.

After 30 minutes, I asked about our room and was told it was still not ready. We were offered drink vouchers, but the bar-tender was not ready to serve us. We remained patient for 40 more minutes, but the place was already souring on us and we were wasting our limited time. The effort to empathize was deficient.

Ultimately, we made last-minute reservations at another Kimpton property (Carlyle), which met our Kimpton expectations.

I can't recommend Topaz and wonder why Kimpton keeps it in its portfolio.

No frills property in a great location. Staff was very friendly and helpful, though there were a couple of disappointing decisions. First, there was a very large dog barking in the room directly across the hall from ours for an entire day. I love pets and pet friendly accomodations, however leaving a poor dog in a room alone all day is unacceptable. The staff attempted to contact the owners to no avail for over 6 hours on the day we earmarked for rest in our rooms. Not so much as a breakfast credit was offered in consideration. Second, we were here from Florida escaping Irma. I was assured there would be plenty of availability in the event we needed to book an extra night. When our flight was cancelled and we attempted to book an extra night, we were quoted a rate for the one night that exceeded what we payed for the previous three nights combined. There was plenty of availability in the property, no reason to triple nightly room rates for a Monday night. This blatant display of rate hiking in the event of a natural disaster was very disappointing from a company we were thus far quite happy with. Prior to the trip I was excited to try the Kimpton properties on future visits; now I'm not as eager to reward Kimpton with my business when they so clearly lacked regard for guests displaced by a natural disaster.

The bartender Morris is AWESOME! The staff was VERY polite and helpful. Room was clean bed is a firm matterss. Downside is NO parking and $14 basic Continental breakfast. There are TONS of places to eat, party and shop within steps of hotel.

Would love to rate this a 5 but due to the air conditioner not working efficiently and the $14 continental breakfast I can not. They did comp our breakfast and were very understanding. The service is outstanding though. They brought extra towels immediately when I called AND they were warm! Bonus! The staff is very nice and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

Besides having big and spacious rooms with a very good rate, last night my son got sick and they immediately accommodated me to a new room, help us with things like new toothbrushes and toothpaste ( he made a mess ) , and helped me out with all I needed. This happened around midnight. The girls in the reception ( i was so flustered I failed to get their name ) were ALL very sweet and helpful. I will never forget this amazing service! Thank you so much

Excellent macaroni and cheese. Bar can't really handle non weekend traffic. But very pleasant service

Clean and decent, though there are obvious indications of lack of care or maintenance. But service is horrible. They need more people. Room cleaning wasn't done when we returned to the room well past 3pm. They're was a dirty set of dishes on a tray that was on the floor of the hallway the entire weekend we were there, even after we reported it as a potential tripping hazard. Great location.

Definitely the definition of a hotel is not just a room where to stay, is a group of several things and details that make the difference and my family and I have had a great experience staying in Topaz Hotel in Washington DC. We got there in a big 15 people Van that is really hard to park and Maxine, Amanda and Edwin did it so easy for us that I was really surprise. then the check in was really fast these guys were so kind, the rooms are just like you see it on pictures, comfortable and clean.
You're going to find everything close to the hotel, you have the subway the Dupont Circle or you can also walk to the White House. You have restaurants and everything you would like to see in a marvelous city.

Thank you Maxine, Amanda, Glenda and of course the captain of Front Desk Team Mr. Christopher Cross I called him the music composer, please don't go any other hotel in DC, meet these guys in this great hotel.

For sure we'll be back soon guys
