Such a beautiful hotel, the staff was super friendly and helpful. I was assisting with the AVID conference that’s held yearly in downtown SAN Diego and it’s a perfect place to host events. The only downside is that the pool is open to the public and is very very busy on the weekends. This hotel is geared towards young professionals as it is a party destination on the weekend.

Hotel Solamar is by far my favorite. The property is in great location. The staff is always friendly and very customer service oriented. Solamar has the intimate feel of a boutique hotel but has the amenities of a large chain hotel. I look forward to my next stay

Hotel is fine. They can do a lot better with the pool layout as it’s cheaply put together and not too inviting. They also need to heat the pool.

Had a great stay! We had to wait longer than we would have liked to get our baggage to the room but the service was impeccable otherwise. Our party had a suite with an adjoining room that suited us perfectly. Even the pullout was extremely comfortable. The week day wine social was a great way of meeting some of the other guests and the weekend brunch was great. Being in the heart of the downtown area we were able to get around comfortably to all the restaurants and the great night life without a vehicle.

Love kimpton hotels. Great atmosphere and style. Social hour with free drinks and snacks was great. We'll be back for another stay.

Great rooms with a yoga matgo figure. Great coffee in the morning fridge in your room. Friendly atmosphere and warm feeling right in the middle of the gaslight district near the mall and lots of great restaurants.

Great low key place stay and its also super affordable. The decor is very upscale and chic.
The room had a leopard print bath robe which was awesome. The rooftop pool was very pleasant.
The hotel is walking distance to a many places downtown. If I need a hotel to stay in San Diego, this would be it.response / report this review -

Very friendly Staff, lovely rooms . Our room had a private patio with a view of poolI advise it was my bday, and I came back to the room with a surprise bottle of champagne!! In the morning they have coffee in lobby, not just a warm cup but you can make ice coffee which I love , so it was a great touch. The lovely lady who checked us in recommended we catch a Padres game , the stadium is so close so we decided spare of the moment to go. I ended up having the best time EVER at that game, and I'm a (Tigers fan)!! Lol. Thank to everyone at the hotel for a great stay , my first time in San Diego and I'll be back.

Very nice located hotel, a block away from Petco Park and a block away from all the live clubs and bars. Had a great time this past weekend living the city life. The overnight parking was rough $50 a night, the pool was a little small, not a kid friendly pool, most people are having drinks around the 10x30 3.5 inches deep pool and no extra room for kids to splash around. Overall the rooms were nice and staff was very welcoming.

Everything about this hotel is excellent. We were well received with a welcoming smile and informed on everything on site. Even the room had a welcoming note from the housekeeping. Would definitely recommend

I loved this Hotel. Great location. Amazing staff. They heard it was our anniversary and they brought us chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne complimentary. The room was amazing. They even have Social Hour in the lobby every day free beer and wine and appetizers. I will definitely stay here again..Love the jacuzzi tub!

This is a place which receives 99% recommendation for a good reason. Spacious rooms with picturesque views. Well kept grounds. Responsive service and concierges to help you plan your trip. We arrived on Dec 25, and stayed for six nights. Purchased through American Airlines, we received a reasonable deal that included airfare, hotel and car. We were reminded that this was an upscale hotel based on the prices in their restaurants and for amenities. With that in mind, we spent most time outside of the hotel at neighborhood restaurants. The Christmas buffet was expensive and NOT worth the price.

Beautiful hotel! They had such easy check in and out. The rooms were spacious and very clean. I do suggest asking for a room with a view, as not all rooms have a good view. Mine unfortunately looked into another room across the way. However their free happy hour get together was so great!
