I recently stayed a week at this location and learned that it is more than a place to rest your head, it's a place where you learn to coexist with people from all walks of life. Each floor offers something different and all floors have bathrooms. If your looking for a quiet room ask for a top floor room. The staff here is friendly and will give suggestions on where to adventure to each night. There is a parking lot behind the behind the building and one on the side. You can choose a room to bunk with others or a room with single beds. This place attracts more of a younger crowd. The only thing missing from this place is an exercise room. So whether you're here to visit our just trying to coexist, I recommend this place to anyone.
Its good, economic, customer friendly and happy go lucky environment
Staff helps any time you ask, any help, they are always at on the reception to help.
Other people staying at hostel are also interesting n coming from different cultures n different countries.
An amazing experience
Clean, safe. We stayed in a private room and had a great time. They have a deal with a bike rental company, for $10/day. Great bikes, they'll deliver them to the hostel, and you can leave them there too.
Good prices, location. Most of the employees are great. While I realize a lot of the workers are young, a couple of them were a bit too loose with their language with customers around, using the term "n-gger" with each other openly. I'm FAR from conservative, but it's a bit much and it was clear other people were uncomfortable with this as well.
First time at a hostel and this hostel exceeded my expectations. A bit noisy outside and constant sirens, but that's what you get for being near bars. No big deal since I can sleep through it.
Clean rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, etc. Everyone was friendly and living the life.
Will definitely have to come here again when I visit San Diego again. Affordable and the best place to get to awesome places.
It's a very nice place to stop for your vacation. The place was nice size, clean and very cozy. The staff was very friendly and helpful especially Gregory and Jackie. They made our vacation more fun, more entertaining. I kindly recommend this hostel for those that want to stay in a clean and comfortable place and want to have the best time of their lifes!
When we checked in we were told my friend and I were in separate rooms when we requested to be together on our booking. They were unable to fix it due to being completely booked.
The rooms are small, run down, no air conditioning. The wash rooms are dirty.
We spent one night here and checked out early and requested our money back.
Staff was unhelpful in fixing their errors with booking.
Do yourself a favor--pay the extra few bucks for the HI HOSTEL down the street.

Great location and friendly stuff, close to most of the main attraction and just 30min/1h from the beach by bus. Good breakfast with bagels and granola snacks, coffee available as well.. and the beds are super comfortable!!
Awesome place to meet people and enjoy downtown. But if you're bringing a car, good luck parking.
I felt instantly welcome. Super chill, underground type vibe. Clean and bare bones but lacking none of of the important stuff. I'm having a great stay so far!
One of the best hostels I have stayed at. Would recommend if you are stopping by San Diego. Cheap rates and very open and warm atmosphere.
The good:
Location location location. This hostel is in a really good place. Lots to do nearby. Unfortunately that is pretty much the only good thing about it.
The bad:
Loud. It is above a club/bar and you can hear the music from below. Also the heat is awful but if you open the windows there are industrial fans on the adjacent roof.
Bathroom feels like you are in said club below. Small and dirty.
Unnecessary fee for credit cards
Rooms are really tight. Could reach out and touch the person in the other bunk.
Common areas littered with beer bottles and cups. I did stay on a Saturday so that could play a part.
Staff was there and just did bare minimum.
Overall:
You are far better just going to an HI Hostel. I'm stayed in 6 different hostels while in California and the trend I'm noticing is that HI hostels have friendly staff who are there to help (not to party) and both unaffiliated hostels I've stayed at like this one are sub par.
Really friendly and cool decor everywhere. A really fun place with a lot to do! Great location. My lower rating was for the heat. Our private room go too hot to sleep, even with the window fan on. Also, it can be a little noisy till around 11pm, but they gave us free earplugs. Everything was clean. The bathrooms smelt a little and were tiny.
