Had a good one night stay here and was given connecting rooms so I can talk to my relatives even though they were in a different room. Free breakfast was also provided the next day which was great. Overall my experience staying in this hotel was very good, I would definitely stay here again if I’d come back to this area.

If you want to hear the rest of the story, keep reading.
We waited too long to make reservations during Thanksgiving week, so we were offered their last room which was supposedly an executive suite. When we entered the room our 13 year old daughter remarked that it didn't look like a suite. Later we would realize her talent as a prophetess. The first morning we were rudely awakened to the chill of having no heat. Sometime after we went to bed, the heater stopped producing heat which is the sole duty I expect from a heater. As I mentioned this was Thanksgiving week in Knoxville with an outside temperature of 37. The following night we were treated to the cable TV not producing images on the screen in addition to no heat.
That morning we were told that the heater would be fixed. After pressing the front desk manager, she only offered a $40 credit for our inconvenience.
When we returned that night after midnight, we were unable to unlock our door with either key card. We went downstairs to ask for assistance from the front desk clerk. She told us that our belongings had been moved to a different room. We were shocked that someone else had moved everything in our room. We were given a card to check our room and another card for the new room we were assigned. When we checked our room we found that nothing had been touched which was a relief but when we saw the new room we knew we had not been staying in an executive suite. The new room was much bigger than ours. We had been paying for a larger room but staying in a regular sized room. The other problem was that the clerk said that our old room with our clothes was marked open which meant that a staff person could have given our room to someone else with access to our valuables. The liability for such a scenario would have been a nightmare. What was even more frustrating was that the first night in the new larger executive suite was without a working heater too.
The next morning we asked to speak to the person in charge of the hotel.
Taylor listened to our concerns about our disastrous stay at Holiday Inn Express.
He was sympathetic and apologetic at the time. He told us he would comp the first few nights and the rest of our stay. When we got the bill, his idea about the length of the week was different than ours because we were charged the higher rate for the latter part of the week. What he said did not match the bill. Our experience at Holiday Inn was not hospitable and left us with a bad impression.
We contacted Holiday Inn customer relations but they provided no help only saying that local management was the final word. They said we talked to the general manager named Keith and he settled it. We didn't know Keith was the general manager because he never told us that and customer relations said he didn't have to disclose that information. I didn't know we were dealing with an undercover agent with the FBI. If local management and corporate relations goal was to make sure we avoid Holiday Inn at all costs when we travel, then they have succeeded on a tremendous level.
P.S.
There are two schools of thought about free continental breakfasts at hotels. One side says. since it's free, you get what you pay for and you have no reason to complain. The other side says, the cost of breakfast is factored into your room rate. Agreeing with the latter, I will make a few remarks about their attempt at breakfast. I enjoyed the abundance of chocolate milk but the it went downhill after that. The warm cinnamon buns are hit or miss, some days they're fresh other days they're stale. The waffle or pancake maker was out of order the entire week so I can't make a comment only to say I assume fixing it wasn't a priority. The egg presentation was interesting. I believe the product received no cooperation from an actual chicken. The color was close but the taste was underwhelming.
This is our first choice to stop on our way south for vacation. The rooms are nice and the breakfast is good. It is located near a number of restaurants, both chain and local, so it is perfect place to be at the end of a long day of driving. And the out door pool is nice. The only drag about the place is that it is too popular of late so it is sold out most summer weekends.
The location is right off I-75 with CVS around the corner. With family of four with two little ones, we were blessed to have the extended suite and really like the set-up. Internet was coming and out in which I couldn’t complete my business work during my stay. Microwave was not the best and took a while to heat something simple as oatmeal. Staff wasn’t knowledgeable about what’s open and what’s not during Thanksgiving day while we were traveling to the Midwest from the South. Other than that, it’s comfortable and roomy.
Great stop, hotel was clean, people friendly, breakfast good. Only knock would be the gravy for the biscuits was extremely bland, tight that would be illegal in Tennessee. I had a king room, the bed was very comfortable and the room was nice. Great view of the mountains in the morning. No worries staying here again.
Nothing crazy cool staff. Would stay again. Perfect distance away from Knoxville, but close enough to enjoy it
Decent hotel. The location was close to my meeting and off the interstate so it was quiet. Several fast food places close by. Ruby Tuesdays next door.
My husband and I stayed Labor Day weekend 2017, and we were less than impressed. The staff did not even lift their heads to welcome us into the building each time we passed them. We initially had a room on the first floor but asked for another room because it smelled like mold. The second room was not that much better. The rooms are in need of updating. However, the breakfast was good. All in all, I would not recommend this Holiday Inn Express to friends. This is disappointing because we have always had good service and felt much more comfortable at other Holiday Inn Express hotels.
Right off of I-75, it's just a quick ride down to Knoxville. The facilities are clean and updated - very nice. The free Continental breakfast had a variety of choices and was very delicious. They are pet friendly and even gave us little treat bags for our dog upon arrival. Our room was right at the elevator in the hallway that led to the back door where the dog area was, which was nice. Only complaint was that the grass where the dog area is was taller than our dog and made it difficult to pick up after her.
Contracted a room for changing for a wedding. Room was nice and clean, bed for the nap was comfortable. Staff was very polite and courteous.
First impressions are everything. We were traveling through and stopped here. Karen at the front desk was so sweet and helpful. We were traveling with a newborn and she really accommodated our needs. Room was very clean and I loved the pillows. Their toiletries are from bath and body works, which made me very happy. Breakfast buffet was good as well.
The workers/front desk are super nice! But this hotel is probably the oldest Holiday Inn we stayed at. The room was ok the bathroom is kind of out of date and it looks like it had some kind of leak before. Breakfast was ok they had pancakes which was efficient so there was no waiting in line. But I miss the smell of fresh waffles and our kids love them too.
Beds were comfortable and the room was clean, although a bit cramped with furniture. The shower had some rust and what looked like mold on the edges, which was a bit off putting, but we were in a bind with vomiting adults and children, so we made due with what we had available. The hotel was heavily monitored, with cameras everywhere, which both made me feel better and wary at the same time. The breakfast was ok, though I would spring for a regular breakfast and skip theirs (which I did). Convenient location off the highway and there's a Starbucks right before the highway, if that's your thing. Wouldn't recommend it for more than a simple sleep and go, but in a pinch, it was exactly what we needed.
Overall a decent place to stay. Comfortable bed, good amenities, friendly staff. However AC only half worked, Internet was barely serviceable but improved over the course of the stay
