The service was mediocre yet the people who were working were kind and caring. The cafe food was not always delivered promptly or made right but I was informed that their was a new chef. The bedrooms were clean and tidy every time I returned and the pool was large and had more than enough room for many guests.
Service for dinner was pretty good until our server forgot to serve coffee after dessert! Lobby and banquet room could use a make over. Showing its age via decor. But not bad overall. However I would never hold a personal event there.
Lots of space. Poor water pressure. Deep pool. Cold hot tub. Place feels empty. Comfy bar. Firm comfy bed. Big workyout roomy. Kick ass bar.
The front desk staff try to make your stay pleasant, but the hotel rooms are in dire need of some TLC. The lobby, fitness room, restaurant, bar, and other common areas give the impression of a very nice hotel - kind of misleading. My room was on the Niles Center Road side, so I asked them if I there were accessible doors so I could park closer to my room. The front desk clerk said yes, so I pulled my car around, took my suitcases out of the car, and tried to open the door with both my room keys. The rusted, decrepit mechanism didn't budge after repeated attempts. I also wasn't keen on the parking lot on this side of the building, so I dragged my suitcases back to the car and parked in the front parking lot again.
The so-called blackout curtains were so short they did not block out the incredibly bright hall lights. I spent 25 minutes trying to push pillows, table, and chairs up against them, to no avail. Remarkably, the soundproofing was very good and I only heard street traffic once. The room itself was OK, but pretty mediocre and in need up some upgrades. I expect better from a Holiday Inn, especially considering their prices rival far nicer hotels!
When I arrived at the hotel the front desk was extremely courteous, and very quick to help us get checked in so we can get to our room and drop off our stuff. When we came back to the desk and asked about recommendations for local food places to eat they gave us both a pizza place and a place for Chicago-style hot dogs each location was amazing. The breakfast in the morning was ready when it's when they said it would be, well organized, and the staff working at it were extremely polite. My next trip to Chicago I will definitely stay at this location.
We stayed here to attend a wedding. The reception was in the banquet room and it was amazing. The staff was so attentive. The guest rooms were very humid. The air doesn't work well. It has a horrible rattle. The bathrooms need updating. Our microwave didnt have dials. The beds and bedding were very comfortable but the towels were rough.
Very poor wait 45 minutes to be served. Then serve without silverware. Other guests went and sat by the bar and orders were taken immediately. When i went in i. sat. By the. Bar and the bartender ask me to move over to the side . it's like i was ignored the wholetime the.lady also in the group did not get her order. I have been here man y times and enjoy good service but today poor. Seminar was schedule therefore staff. Should be available to cater for guests.many.in the group walk out tired of waiting
Very dated hotel. Over priced for value.. but it's centrally located. You can walk across the street to a place to eat or McDonald's. Because it only has 1 restaurant. Buffet breakfast delicious. Some guests rooms are in a whole other area going down a small hallway..but staff is very nice and professional.Rooms and bathroom look like they were designed in the 1960..i caught Uber from the airport to hotel..i typically stay here every year because my coworker stays here2.5 to 3 points.
I recently received a letter stating that their computers were hit with malware and therefore my credit card data from October was compromised. This place is the gift that keeps on giving.
I believe someone already stated that this was a remodeled motel configuration/set-up. The cheap ones, the type from those old 70s crime movies. It took forever to get to the front desk from the parking in the back (no signage).
The room: It was poorly furnished very cramped the carpet looks like it is from the 70's, seriously.
I nearly tripped on the bottom doorway divider that was poorly titled with the bathroom "update" it seems that tried to tile the floor and walls but left the old rusty tub! LOL
There was a long black hair on one of the beds, and upon closer inspection, the other bed mattress had dark red stains at the head of the bed. Even with pillows and a bed sheet we were not going to lay in that!
I slept in the "kinda" clean bed with sweats on yes it was hot that way but I am disease free.
I do not recommend this hotel.
The place was very nice. In terms of how they designed it. I don't know how to describe it well enough. It just looked nice and fancy. The employees were nice but I didn't interact with them enough to fully talk about them. The floor in the reception hall was falling apart a little bit. Some parts of the floor. Probably because there's a lot of events there. Overall it was a nice place, and I would recommend hosting an event there. I was only a guest when I went so I don't know anything about how much certain things cost.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and up to date. All the employees were spectacular. In a great location. The pool and hot tub were very nice.
The design of the hotel is a little odd. The rooms are arranged in a square around this large, open common area. There is a fairly large pool along with a hot tub inside this lobby, and an enclosed fitness center next to it. The rooms all have windows facing the hallway, and are fairly standard. Each room has a desk, a tv, a microwave and a bathroom. In addition to all of this there's an ice machine and a couple vending machines scattered about.
Perfect place and cheap too! The staff was super nice and helpful. Close to downtown Chicago and walking distance to many shops and a perfect little breakfast restaurant. The rooms were very clean and the bed was super comfortable. Didn't try the bar, but it definitely looked like it would be worth a go. Great water pressure and a tub perfect for a relaxing bath. T.V. with great reception showing some basic channels. Fridge, microwave, coffeemaker the works! I would definitely stay here again and I would even bring anyone in my family if we come back to Chicago.
