This is a decent hotel, but only stay here for events that are close by. There are some great food places very close and walking distance to Iowa Hawkeyes venues. Hotel could use a little updating, but not bad.

Great experience. Inexpensive, basic hotel. Closest hotel to the V.A. Hospital. Staff is very nice and helpful. They provide a free family style dinner about 5:30 p.m. and free breakfast or you can walk to multiple restraurants across the parking lot. Not fancy, but very clean! We had a room facing the railroad tracks and river; great view with the birds catching fish!

**Days Inn*** Not Heartland Inn. Don’t know why it keeps coming that way , maybe it’s newly renamed . Great place to stay ! Our room had been decently renovated. The bed was super comfy. Can’t be the price $60! Only stayed one night before an early morning check it at the University of Iowa Hospital. The front desk staff was also very pleasant. We won’t be around for breakfast to anything so can’t post on those amenities. We are very happy with the room we got for the night. Would recommend. I’ll post pictures if I can figure out how to. The hallway carpet didn’t look to have been updated yet don’t let that discourage you. :)

They upgraded us to a suite with a wonderful whirlpool tub. Room was spacious, bed was fairly comfortable, the hotel is slightly strange in its extremely long design (you can only cross from one wing to the other through the lobby.) We didn't hear any other neighbors noise, although we were on the end of the hotel. Train whistles were audible when we first arrived, but I didn't hear it again. The breakfast was a bit below average, but acceptable - they had a man to make the waffles instead of self-service. The rest of the staff was finewe didn't have much reason to interact with them.

Very clean and comfortable. Good location for getting to the UI Hospitals and Clinics. Free shuttle to hospital. Very good breakfast.

Great service at check in, room clean and tidy. Gave us a late check out. Airport shuttle a great service efficient and friendly. Good car storage. Need to warn customers about change in access to the hotel with major road changes. Recommend this as a good travel motel. Thanks Heartland! We will stay again..

Heartland Inn was the best value hotel we found on short notice and had a very positive experience during our one night stay. Staff was courteous and helpful with getting checked in and out in a timely matter. Our room was spaceous and helped to provide a much needed great night's sleep. The only complaint we had during our stay was our room was located adjacent to the pool and the smell of pool water seemed to permeate into our room.

Having my son in ICU at University Hospital, they gave been a godsend! Free shuttle service to and from hospital and great breakfast. The gentleman working in the kitchen area is great! The room is clean and fresh towels when needed.

Was here for a family member's hospital visit. The staff was incredibly accommodating and kind, they let me check in early and saved dinner for me on a particularly late night during my mom's surgery. The room was pleasant and very clean. There is an Old Chicago next door, but no noise issues. Even though they were in the middle of a renovation, I was never disturbed or interrupted during my stay. Very considerate! The dinner in Wednesday was simple but homey. Shuttle service to the hospital was efficient and pleasant, but the hotel is close enough for a nice walk as well. Thanks for a great stay during a difficult time, I appreciate it.

We stayed at Heartland inn in Iowa City because my husband had surgery at the VA hospital. Our room was very nice in spite if some remodeling going on in the hotel. Loved having a fridge and microwave in the room. It was clean and quite nice. The only problem we had was the coffee pot didn't work very well, other then that it was great!

I'm in Iowa City for work and my employer booked a room here for me. Even with the renovations going on, it has been a wonderful place to stay and is very close to food, groceries, pharmacy, etc. They have free breakfast AND dinner every night, as well. The food is not the greatest hotel food I've ever had, but it's good when you're trying to save money. If I were to stay in Iowa City again, I would definitely consider this hotel.

Room appeared clean, but had an odd smell. There is currently a lot of construction going on. Lots of options for a free breakfast, but the lady that was supposed to be making waffles was too busy to be bothered for one. Front desk staff was polite. I stay for free for work, so I'm not really complaining. I think it would be a good deal for around $70)night.

The staff and the location was great. The lobby, room and bathroom were very clean. A little noisy due to the fact that the clients were up late and loud. But the hotel staff did talk to them.

I've stayed here before. Last time approximately 5 years ago! Prior that that also. It's a pleasure to hear my language when I stay! Spanish! But that is not the only reason! The food is great!

Evening desk clerk, John, was cordial upon arrival and made me feel as though he remembers me even if he didn't. Everyone helpful and willing to go the extra step to make sure we felt comfortable and our needs were met. Please tell him he is doing a good job.

Location very close to university of Iowa hospital and the football stadium. The staff was amazing and very friendly and accommodating. They even offer a discount if you are family for a patient at the hospital and have a shuttle that will take you back and forth.
