Just wanted to leave a good review for all my Drs and nurses especially nurses Rick (in the ER) Thea, Phyllis and Mina on the 5th floor. I had a lengthy stay and while not all the nurses were courteous and attentive these few individuals we're caring, attentive and informative with my care. They never made me feel like I was a burden as I know they are busy, they took the time to follow up with my request in finding information related to my care never scoffing or rolling their eyes when asked a question unlike other nurses I had during my stay. Thanks a bunch guys I am feeling much better and it's all thanks to these individuals.
PERVERT MALE NURSE WORKING OVERNIGHT *BEWARE*
I took my 6 year old son to Florida Hospital of Wesley Chapel on 11/14/17 around 4:30 am because he was coughing and had trouble breathing. When we were called to the back to be seen, A male nurse (Richard) tells my 4 year old daughter in front of me, my 6 year old son, and his coworker that he likes my daughters nightgown and that he might have a dress similar to it in his closet and that he wasn't kidding. Him and the female co-worker laughed in front of my sick son and my daughter and didn't think their was anything inappropriate about what he said. I got serious because I didn't want to address the matter in front of my kids and for the mere fact that my son still needed to get his breathing checked. The atmosphere of the room changed and I'm sure they were able to tell I was upset but continued to do their job. At the time of Discharge the male nurse who made the comment gave me the prescription written by the Dr. as well as the follow up information for my son's local Dr. and at this point he knew I was still upset because I didn't say anything back to him, and he never once apologized for what he said. I took my kids and left and came back the following night to Talk to his supervisor about the issue. The person at the front desk had me speak with someone by the name of Michael who is supposedly Richards boss who apologized to me and agreeing with me that what Richard said in front of my kids was inappropriate and he would address the matter. I asked him how do I know that the matter would be addressed, He said he would have his manager who's name is Rebecca call me with the results. I have yet to get a call. I found this totally disrespectful and inappropriate for this male nurse to tell my daughter in front of me, my 4 year old daughter and 6 year old sick son that he cross dresses and I want this man to get fired. And I couldn't even work yesterday because I was so angry at the disrespect that I experienced and when I went back to address it, nothing has been done and no one has contacted me with the urgency that I know this matter deserves.
I appreciate Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel. On a scale from 1-10, I give them a 10. They treated me with so much kindness. It was smooth ⛵. I would recommend them to anyone. Doctors, nurses and staff were SUPERIOR.
I was seen by the hospital this evening due to spitting up blood and chronic cough. The staff were very friendly and very welcoming. The doctor that seen me was very nice and very thorough with everything regarding my care and explained everything in detail to me in a way that I could understand. The doctor made me feel comfortable during my visit and made sure I had everything I needed to ensure I got well before I drove back home, since I was from out of state.
I am very pleased with the care that I received and would highly recommend this hospital to anyone needing urgent or emergency care.
Thanks Florida Hospital for making me feel warm and welcomed during my visit and thank you for the care that you provided.
Very disappointed with ER twice this year, first going with my daughter broken finger, now with my mom broken shoulder.Waiting time was very long., nobody check on you in the room, pain management was poor for something like that, didn't see orthopedic specialist while at the hospital. And this was not at night, or weekend, so the surgeons should be available at the hospital in AM, that can give appropriate diagnosis, and if she need surgery or not.We was there since 7:00 till 11:30. ER looked empty.Forget about broken skin or skin tears.Nobody even saw them, and when we pointed them out, got a bandaid, not even clean the wounds before applying. Have to ask a nurse" what about tetanus shot", should this be offered and not asking for it? When we came home noticed that her 5th finger on the other hand is all purple, swollen, and painful, probably broken too, but nobody in the ER, doctor or nurse noticed , so much for patient assessment. Now we have to make a trip and see a surgeon. If you have a choice do not go to this Hospital.
The ER staff at this hospital can be hit or miss. I recently took my son to this ER due to him having shortness of breath, nausea, lack of appetite, and a fever (he was also seen for these same exact symptoms in April at the FLHWC ER). After 3-4 hours of waiting, we were sent home with an over the counter prescription for children's Tylenol and a $2000+ ER billThe next day we saw his Pediatrician and she told us to go to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital as FLHWC has a tendency to misdiagnose or not diagnose children at all. At St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, they immediately saw us and they diagnosed him with asthma and pneunomia due to RSV. After a two day hospital stay, we were released. I am not saying that this hospital is bad, but if you have a medical emergency for your small children (10 and under), you may be better off taking them to a children's hospital.
Came to ER late morning with a broken arm. I waited hours to get a room to see a doctor. Then waited some more to get my arm set. I left the hospital at 6pm. Seems like it took an extraordinary long time. And I had to have another operation another day to have it reset. Is that normal? Even though everyone was extremely busy, they were nice.
I will never go to this hospital again. Aesthetically it's very pleasing and the rooms are very nice. However, I was refused a prescription medication at the start of treatment. Then, the doctor agreed to allow my prescription medication when I threaten to walk out AMA. Then, everyone got the dosage incorrect. It was never straightened out. The doctor and staff also missunderstood why I was there.
Additionally, this hospital has a propensity to order tests that are not needed. I do believe it's part of a money making process. For example, The cardiologist came to see me, evaluated me, and said I did not have a heart problem, which I knew. I thanked him for his intelligence and he left. After that, technicians came in to do cardiac diagnostic test which he said I did not need. Somehow he did not cancel the orders. I refused the tests based on with the cardiologist had told me. One of the technicians looked at me, smiled and said "Another patient being responsible for her own care." I am concerned about older people who have no one to advocate for them who would've just accepted the tests, thinking the hospital knew best.
Then, there is the topic of how expensive everything is. That morning, at the same hospital, I saw my primary care physician in her office. She ordered a blood test. I went next door to the hospital to have the blood test done and was informed that a CBC would cost $439 out-of-pocket because of my deductible. However the same test cost significantly less at LabCorp. It seems that one must shop around for the best price for medical procedures.
The next morning, when I saw the doctor, she advised me I was discharged. I asked her how long it would be, because it typically takes several hours at the hospital. She said, "In about an hour." There seems to be a huge disconnect in communication in this hospital. My nurse informed me that I could not be discharged in an hour. She said the doctors don't understand that.
This was an expensive mistake. I will definitely go to a different hospital next time.
They charge twice what other places do for their services. It may look nice on the outside but beware. They need to make up the money for all the upgrades somehow.
I went in there thinking i was in labor and they asked me yhe same question 5oo times and god forbid if you tell them that you have a mid wife and not a ob. Because they will try to talk bad about midwives and try to get you to get a ob. I will never go to this hospital ever again ill take my chances with st judes or tgh.
This is my only and first one star review. I'm not a person who typically complains but I was very dissatisfied with this hospital. Don't be fooled by the opulence, the service is terrible. I will definitely not come back. I now go to Zephyrhills hospital where the service is far superior. If you don't mind the drive I would suggest going to Zephhyrhills hospital.
I am writing this on behalf of a close friend, Christina Lesley. Christina had come down with a several ailments, pneumonia, infections, etc. Her first stop was on the second level. And what wonderful staff! Their kindness, warmth and dedication to their profession was noticed. Within a few days Christina was moved up to the sixth floor after an operation. The staff here mirrored the staff from the second floor, and they deserved to be recognized. Thank you all for your service and care,
Best service I've ever received. My nurse was the most thorough of any that has ever taken care of me. Timely care as well. All hospitals should be this caring, kind and knowledgeable.
