I wasn't impressed at all, but this was maybe because we had our Thanksgiving dinner there. Pumpkin soup little bit too salty, turkey breast quite hard. Mashed potatoes and squas turned quite all right. Their wine is good as well considering the fact we ordered wines served by glass which is usually not wow quality. The place is also quite dark even in the middle of the day and I was slightly depressed from the atmosphere. The elevator was broken and no sign close by, we spent few minutes pressing that button (we usually walk the stairs no issue, but this time we had with us almost hundred years old Grandma)

Located conveniently near state and Chicago avenues, this place can bring fine dining at a reasonable price. Happy hour specials are what makes it most affordable. $1 oyster specials are what's up! Upstairs has nice street views for people watching, downstairs is more intimate.

First time eating here and I tried 5 items from the happy hour small plates menu and 2 drinks from the happy hour cocktails list.
Great ambiance, whether its for casual after the work outing or a romantic dinner date.
The lobster rolls with paprika fries are awesome, roll was warm toasted and buttery, the lobster mix was very flavorful. Firecracker shrimp was amazingly tasty i love spice so for me, this dish was not high on the heat meter but perhaps since i like it hot, i may not be the one to take that tip from, it comes on a bed of slaw which was tasty as well. The calamari, pickle, and carrot mix was okay. I have had better calamari elsewhere but i got this for free by checking in on YELP(thanks)!
Also, had the crab cakes i loved all of the fresh lumped crab meat, I personally did not enjoy the accompanying slaw (too tart)! Lastly, for food was a goat cheese bruschetta dish with a salad and balsamic vinaigrette, I shockingly ended up enjoying it!
I had the pacific punch and sparkling blackberry martini and LOVED them both!
Valet is a friendly fast employee parking your car on the side of the restaurant on the street for $15 for first 2hrs. Which is cool. Or you can do street metered parking.
Then I went back about 3 weeks later tried one new appetizer which were the crab and corn cakes from the happy hour menu, and they were just as delicious as the above items. I noticed that the change the happy hour menu food and drinks wise up, I'm not certain how frequently though. This time I opted for street parking which for 2hrs cost me about $6.response / report this review -

We went on a Saturday night, the night of the Festival of Lights. We were going to be early, but of course we ran into street closures everywhere. We actually ended up being over 30 minutes late. We called at the time of our reservation and explained to them what was happening. They were very accommodating, they held our table until we eventually got there. The restaurant has 2 levels, a bar on the first level, and the dinning room down stairs. We were seated immediately. Everyone was so nice about us being 30 minutes late. We ordered cocktails and the lobster bisque right away. The server was thoughtful, funny and very unobtrusive. The food was great, I ordered the brisket rubbed swordfish, it came with yukon hash, fried egg and crab crowns. Everything was good, but the potatoes were a little under cooked. The swordfish was amazing, and the barbecue demi glaze was very good too. All in all in was very good experience, I look forward to eating here again.

This is probably my favorite seafood restaurant in Chicago. The variety and freshness of the food was above my expectations. The portions are very large and the ambience is great. We sat by the window and watched people go by as we ate fresh bread and drank wine. I would definitely go back and recommend it to others.

Great biscuits, outstanding lobster bisque and salad, seafood is terrific and Sunday night half price wine bottles. Great experience.

Food is excellent and the service is top notch. Great seafood and non-seafood entrees. The decor is clean and done well, though the rock around the elevator seems a bit out of place. Staff is very friendly and helpful with suggestions. A great place to treat yourself if you are in Chicago.

My girlfriend and I spent our first valentine at the Devon in Philadelphia. It left us a really wonderful experience there. Two years later, we went the Devon in Chicago to recall our memory on the Qixi day (Chinese Valentine). We might visit at a wrong time. It felt empty and aging in the restaurant. It seemed only other two groups of guests besides us. I reserve a start only for the environment. It should be much more decent place.
About the food, we really enjoyed it. As a chain restaurant, there should be no worries about the food quality.response / report this review -

I arrived at 6 in time for happy hour. Tried a flight of beers and the crab cakes. Good people watching from a table by the window. The bar staff have a good sense of humor!

Devon is generally quite good. Not every dish is a home run, but some are fantastic. Their lobster tail was great, as is the lobster Mac and cheese! Wouldn't necessarily recommend the shrimp taco appetizer but everything else we had was very good.

I went here for Mother's Day had reservations they said they were running behind ok understandable. We finally sat down ordered drinks, appetizers and Entree all together. We got our appetizers and drinks. We finished that like 20-30min mind you we put in our order with everything else. We waited over an hour for our entrees for me to get my filet migon over cooked/dry (I asked for medium) and lobster tail over cooked and they messed up my sides. Our waiter had an attitude with me because I wanted to return the food. My mom finished her food while I'm looking stupid waiting for mines, at this point I'm over this restaurant. They still messed up on my New food that came out but I got tired of waiting and just dealt with it. The manager didn't take no inconvenience fee off the bill he only gave us $25 vouchers, they could have kept that because I'm not going back.. spent well over $100 for my food to be nasty and for them to have an attitude. I wouldn't recommend going here on special holidays, obviously they can't keep up with the demands.

Devon is a fav for my boyfriend and I. We love their happy hour. They have the best calamari hands down! You will not find better. They only get 4 of 5 stars for management changes. The music and happy hour has suffered some changes that impacts our frequenting the restaurant as much as we used to.

My friends and I dined in on Feb 17th. Our Server was Nicki; she was AMAZZZING!! She made our visit unforgettable. She was so knowledgeable on all things. She gave excellent suggestions based on things that she liked. If something wasn't her favorite Nicki told us what was popular with most customers and to GET IT! Nicki you ROCK and made our experience the best and we are definitely spreading the word.

I FINALLY made it to this place during restaurant week for a friend's birthday and it was delicious!! Had the Ginger Margarita, lobster bisque, crab cakes & creme brulee. Everything was very delicious and our waitress was awesome!! I will definitely be back!!

I have to say wow. Took my wife there for dinner and our server was "Nikki" wow she was just a sweet heart very nice person I would like her boss to know you have done a great job picking her to work for you. Also the food was just amazing my wife and I were def very very happy.
