One of my all-time favorite donut places in Chicago! It is as tiny as a telephone booth, inside the vault itself. But, there is a lot of huge and delicious goodness which comes out of it. Street parking is available, if you’re lucky. While there is often a line, it moves quickly. It’s quite popular with the local crowd and with tourists, so you might find a bit of a wait. Just a few minutes. It’s certainly worth a visit. I am totally addicted to the “ginger stack“!
I wanted to bring my clients a special treat for a meeting I had with them in the morning. When I showed up with these unbelievably tasty donuts, the clients were thrilled and we all enjoyed them during the meeting. Staff was friendly, fast and the donuts are the best in the city.
We came here because we heard the donuts were among the best in Chicago. After waiting in a long line, which was a good sign, we ordered our donuts and took them back outside to eat. I’m not sure if today was a fluke, but these were some of the driest donuts I’ve ever tasted. Think like day old Dunkin Donuts dry. no thanks. If this is the best of Chicago, then that is disappointing. I think we’ll try somewhere else next time.
Not a huge doughnut fan but I was so surprised at how much I liked the buttermilk donut here! Lemon & poppy seed was great too. This particular location is just a small counter. There is outdoor seating in the summer.
Donut Vault is correctly named for its vaulted tiny entrance and one employee standing alone among the masses. I came fifteen minutes prior to opening on a weekday and had only one person standing around waiting, but the line did grow, not however to what others report. I believe the regular glazed donuts are worth the price being effectively three times an average doughnut. Exceptionally rich and sugary, if eating a pixie stick isn't your forte; consider not stopping here. I will return time and time again when said sweet tooth calls.
Super cute little shop. Get there early because the line builds up fast. Some of the best donuts I've ever had!
Simple, small, easy in and out. The donuts were a tad bit sweet for my taste, but not enough to prevent me from going back. I like this place, it's not over the top, and in has a cool vibe, just how I like it.
3 words for you! Oh My God!! the donuts were absolutely delicious. The guy at the counter was vey friendly. Go early! we went there early so managed to get inside and grab the donuts. there was a humungous line up after we were done! Went a day earlier and they were sold out already and went back the next day!
I saw this place on the show "Unique Sweets" and promised myself to try this place if i ever go to Chicago. So I did just that and though I got there late in the afternoon and little was left of the donuts, I was not disappointed. I had the mocha coconut donut and it was delicious. After I ate it, I went back in and bought the last two that was left. Highly recommend it, even if you are not a fan of donuts, this place may change your mind.
The doughnuts are so good. We arrived 20 minutes before the doors opened and already the line was down the sidewalk and around the corner. But it was worth the wait.
I had a pistachio donut the size of my head and it was great. Cool little place, just donuts and coffee but it's definitely worth stopping in.
So far my husband and my favorite place to get donuts ever. The original is unbeatable and we have not had a flavor we don't like. You will definitely taste a difference compared to your grocery store or chain donuts.
Tiny venue. Get there early. I was there before it opened for the day and there was already a small line, but nothing crazy. I'll jump on the bandwagon. The doughnuts I tried were really fantastic. Will come back.
First of all, people are not lying when they say to get here early and be prepared to wait in line. I'm not a fan of having to do that, but the incredibly energetic lady working the window and the amazing donuts make it well worth it! Their selection is small but very unique, changing every day. You can expect some of the best textured old fashioned donuts and largest raised donuts you've ever had. It's a must-try for all of you donut lovers when visiting Chicago!
