Nice park, quite expensive entrance fee at $ 25 per adult. Then it closed early because a private event. Then another aisle closed for another private event. Then sold out for the extra public event. Left looking at cactus you'll see on the roadside. Okay still they've a nice collection. The signage is poor, no explanations or almost about the plants you're looking at. Have your phone with to google your own tour!

More interesting for the adults than the kids. If you got kids, I highly recommend bringing or renting a stroller ($10). Because I doubt they would last long walking in the heat for plantsat least that's how my friend's 4 year old was.
Adult admission was $25 and we got to view the butterfly exhibit in addition to the the garden. A great way to spend an afternoon learning and viewing a bit of history. Many beautiful photo opts. Coming from the city (SF), I don't see much cacti so I definitely enjoyed the greenery. Would recommend coming to at least once if you're in the area.response / report this review -

I just LOVE the Desert Botanical Gardens! It's truly a GEM in the desert! I love that it's "Centrally" located between Tempe & Phx/Scottsdale. Makes a great place to meet friends coming from around the valley. It's such a GREAT time of year now to enjoy & get some exerciseLet's GO!!! :)

Every time friends or family come to visit, I always take them here. It's a great way to show off the beauty of the desert to non locals! Also, there is always great art on display here and great cultural events. It is a bit pricey for a one time visit, however I have the membership which I think is a great value! It even includes free admittance to gardens all across the US!

Serene place to visit! My mom and I got tickets to visit the Botanical Garden and it's by far one of my favorite memories I've had with her. It was a beautiful day and we made some really priceless memories. We loved the butterflies, and all of the wonderful arrangements of flowers! My mom is a professional gardener, and she absolutely fell in love with this place. We are both from New York, and we are used to being surrounded by flowers, and lavish wildlife.
The Desert Botanical Garden was very much like an oasis. Truly breathtaking!response / report this review -

Nice little garden walk. We went in the evening and lost light quickly, some of the pathways were lit, some weren't. They had some great public art. It's a nice place that's well maintained.

I have visited this garden a number of times and started out early in the morning and stay all day. One design I found interesting was their use of metal rebar from a gazebo to signs, gates, bridge, etc. What a creative and low cost idea. I always go along with the tour at this garden because the information is so interesting. The cactus are landscaped beautifully throughout the garden with sculptures positioned around the garden that seem to mimic the landscape in bright colors. During my day, I take the tour, walk the entire garden taking photos, set on stone benches next to running water to rest, read all the educational signs, eat lunch at the cafe, visit the library, look at botanical photography displays, talk to staff and ask questions and visit the gift shop (good thing they sell wide brim hats!).

Beautiful gardens. Informative and fun. Can be pretty hot in the summer, but there are places to rest all along the paths. If you bring lots of water and take your time - you'll be fine.

Such a peaceful, beautiful place to walk and relax and love cacti. If these plants could be hugged, this would be the place to do it because the are such a lovely plant and so beautiful. What a lovely park and the extra bonuses are the paths that lead to historical primitive buildings and then the very best is the dusk.

we went with my family to check out phoenix Arizona, to see if we moved there and we love it!!!! Its really summer hot!!!! ;) but is not humid we walk a lot and we weren't sweating at all , just feeling the heat and the sun is very bright!! 106 F, we haven't experience that much heat but was good. We loved the fact of how many outdoors activity AZ has, botanical garden is amazing a lot of nature to see. The desert is amazing, if you really love the hot weather is a place for you. We had to drink a lot !!! Of water.

Great place to spend the day
Who knew there were so many different cactus. I love the time period structures they built on the property. And lots of places to stop and sit in the shade along the path. Butterfly house is cool too.response / report this review -

Incredibly well put together and the abundance of variety was fascinating. I've been to quite a few botanical gardens around the world but have never been to one that filled so much space with one type of plant.
Plan for 2-3 hours to see it all and bring a reusable bottle with you. They have plenty of filling stations. Keep your eyes peeled for so the small critters including lizards, birds, squirrels, and frogs.response / report this review -

Springtime is the best time to visit! (I visited in March.) The weather was perfect and all the plants were blooming! The scents in spring are absoutely gorgeous. It's a great place to exercise, hang out, learn, and enjoy nature. My exercise group likes to walk there on free admission day, which happens once a month. If you have little ones, keep a close eye because there are lots of cacti just off the trail. Other than that, it's a great place for the whole family!

Visiting Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix is a magical experience. The garden is beautiful and has a world class collection of Desert Plants in their outdoor exhibit that are rare and endangered. The Botanical Garden helps people learn about the characteristics of desert plants and how to protect and preserve the Desert's natural beauty. Visiting the the Spring Butterfly Exhibit in the newly opened Butterfly Pavilion and observing the colorful butterflies is by itself joyful. The Garden is also showcasing potted specimens for those interested. People have the option to rent a wheelchair for roaming around the garden and they can also dine in the special restaurant if they want to. A great and enjoyable experience.

What a fascinating, relaxing, wonderful experience. We have taken a couple groups of visiting family here and they also thoroughly enjoyed it. You learn so much about our local desert plant life as well as endangered, unusual, and beautiful plant life around the world. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate - lots of volunteers. Try to catch a free guided tour when you go and plan on a few hours or more. There is so much to see and, even though I'm not a gardener and certainly don't have a green thumb, I was enchanted and plan to go back regularly. They also just opened their butterfly garden, which was fun. There are scooters for rental so, if you have trouble walking longer distances, you can still enjoy this precious gem of Phoenix.
