Drug activity and arrest!
Here’s what happened to me after
I arrived at 10:30pm on a Monday and checked in for one night after a long six hour drive.
I headed to my hotel room from the parking lot and noticed a suspicious looking stranger on the premises walking towards me and my red flag was immediately hoisted. I thought I was going to get robbed from the way he was acting.
I hurried to my room and quickly closed and locked the door behind me only to discover there was no main light switch in my room. A blank panel was on the wall and did I ever need lights quickly. The only working lights were the bathroom lights as it turned out. The person in the parking lot disturbed me. I peeked out my window and observed this person who got in his car and parked it right next to mine; very odd acting and what was he up to? I was still ruffled but what happened next really got me.
No sooner had he parked, three police cruisers pulled up with guns drawn on this person yelling at him to get out of the car and to get on the ground. All right in front of my hotel room. I stepped away from the window as the guns were also pointed in my direction.
The police arrested this guy and were searching for possible accomplices; it went in for over 2.5 hours. I counted seven officers scurrying about checking other rooms. There was no way I was getting any sleep from all the commotion as you could hear everything through the paper-thin walls.
Of all the hotel stays, I have never had a room with no working main light switch or operating lamp switches other than the bathroom lights. All on a night some thug was up to who knows what and ended up getting arrested right in front of my door.
Additionally, there was only one lock on the door - I never felt so unsafe. I was so tired and drained from the experience. I would have left right then and there but I was exhausted.
I spoke to management the next morning and explained the condition of the room what happened and how I got absolutely no rest. I asked for my money back.
When I called a few days later to follow up, the manager all but called me a liar regarding the room condition and my account of what happened the night before.
They refused a full refund after telling me they would as soon as they would verify the police report. The manager talked to police and said they arrested the guy for drugs and my story about “I thought I was going to get robbed” didn’t mesh. I couldn’t believe his response to me.
Terrible place and management. Stay in a reputable hotel and spend the extra money.
Rooms were good size and very clean and decorated nicely. The bathrooms are very large with a bathtub. The rooms also have a microwave and refrigerator. they offer free breakfast with waffles, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, orange juice and coffee. I would of rated it 5 stars but I was in room 100 right next to the office and I could hear the staff talking very loud at 2:00 am and this kept me up all night.
Clean rooms, accommodating staff. Only negative is that it is near a main road so it can be quite loud at night.
Older facility but well maintained. Very accommodating staff. Neat and clean fair value for the money.
Perfect place for rest and relaxation! Plus, price point is very reasonable! And the decor in the rooms is fantastic! Love the Charleston vibe!
Very clean. Beautifil views. Parking sucked. Pricey
The room felt dirty. I wasn't comfortable taking off my shoes and walking on the carpet. The room also smelled like cigarettes. There wasn't a trash can in the room and they had people working on the landscape right outside the door at 8am. Not the greatest but at least the bed was comfortable.
I used to love this place because it was simply. No bells or whistles. Minimum noise. Staff mostly friendly. Please be careful folks. Bed bugs are excessive and they will steel anything they can get there human hands on. Didn't find out the hard way!!!
Management was horrible and irresponsible. Manager Jessica Gold avoided me the entire stay. She kept telling her staff to tell me she was on conference calls during Memorial Weekend.SAD. I can tell this place was under new management because my family & I have vacationed here every year.NEVER AGAIN! I'm 7 months pregnant and she did not care that my family and I did not have functioning toilet.it did not flush and we had to continuously take the back off and re-hook it. I paid for double queen sized beds and received 2 full size beds for me and my family. I phoned the front desk several times and was railroaded all the way to check out. The iron in my room also leaked tons of water when trying to use it. Some people may look at my concerns as petty, but when you pay over $100 a night everything should work, ESPECIALLY THE TOILET!!!!
Ok. So reception staff is great. Very friendly and helpful. Hotel rooms are nasty. Bathrooms are dirty, floors are dirty. I couldn't bring myself to take a shower bc I was grossed out. Furniture is worn out, everything is questionable. Far away from civilization. Please do yourself a favor and choose another hotel.
I planned on staying at this hotel for a family trip to Charleston. Unfortunately we left in search of another hotel almost immediately after check in. The atmosphere felt very unsafe. Would not recommend for families. There were several people day drinking and hang out in the parking lot that stopped whatever they were doing and physically moved to watch us walk to our room. The three rooms next door to the one we were given were stripped of anything inside and covered with construction equipment. The room we were given smelled horrible and was extremely out of date. The pictures online did not match at all what the room actually looked like. I would not recommend this hotel for families or people traveling alone.
Everything about the French Quarter Inn was really perfect for us. Our bedroom and bathroom were beautiful. Our bed was so comfortable in the beautiful high-ceilinged room. The amenities were the best from one of my favorite soaps/shampoos to the water bottles and sweets waiting for us each night. Our view of the street was great fun and quiet! T
We arrived a few hours early for check in but the receptionist was very polite and understanding. She went and told the housekeeper to clean our room next despite the hotel having been completely rented out before. The room was clean and very presentable. Noticed no bugs or serious issues with the overall upkeep of the room. The breakfast in the morning is quite adequate and varied enough to find something you'll like. All in all I'd recommend this place. They even have a nice little pier that rests over a small marsh. Worth the price of admission!
