Affordable by Sanibel standards, convenient and practical. You have got room, full kitchen, covered patio, plus small dinner table and sofa. Daily towel service us included (no room cleanup). Strong mold smell in a room and mattresses are not the best. If the last 2 things can be tolerated and majority of time is spent outside - worth consideration.

We love this place. It doesn't have restaurant or bar. Just very nice place to spend time relaxing in Sanibel. Rooms are nice and clean and the decor is different in each. The staff is friendly. This where we stay in Sanibel.

Location was amazing, right on the beach. Very close to lighthouse beach where I love to go shelling. Room was very clean with a full kitchen. The ladies in the office were very friendly and welcoming. I will stay here again.

Impressive location for a reasonable price! An immense variety of GORGEOUS shells on Sanibel beach (as promised), which is a very short walk away. Lots to see and do in the area as well.
The Colony Inn was sufficient with my needs. Kitchen with dishwasher, fridge, microwave etc. Very big space for multiple people if traveling with family, which is nice. Living room was lovely with large table and adequate seating for all. Although they had a TV, honestly I had absolutely no need to watch it. Beds were very comfy and lots of closet space. Bathroom was basic. Everything was clean. I really liked that the patio was enclosed and that it kept the mosquitoes away. Simply a charming place to stay, especially with all the tiny lizards scampering about.
The pool was pleasant, wonderful place to kick back and relax after relaxing :)
However the wrap around stairs leading up to the top deck needs to be addressed. I had some safety concerns with the height of the railing on the stairs and the top deck. Also the stairs seemed a bit shaky. A few other concerns was that they need more parking places for guests.
Other than that, I will be back!

Pros: easy beach access. It's only a 2 minute walk away.
Cons: Only one parking spot per unit. Not even a guest spot on property.
Our unit was supposed to sleep up to 6. There were two FULL beds and one queen sleeper sofa. I think anyone, no matter what size they are, is going to struggle to sleep sharing a full bed! Add to that only two pillows on each bed.
The AC units are very old and noisy.
Overall, our unit looked drab and needed updating.
I enjoyed the stay because of the beach access, that's about it. I love Sanibel island so it's hard to complain.. but I can't say I would ever stay at Colony Inn again.

Overall location is fantastic. We stayed in one of the cottages. Quaint and secluded from the crowds, but in need of renovation/updating.. And, judging by the in room guest book, it has been needing renovation for the past few years before we ever got here.
