This place was very nice. The view was incredible. Very private atmosphere. The rooms are large, equipped with a kitchen and a plethora of dishware. Full size stove and refrigerator. This place is a little dated, but everything was fully functional. There was even a sofa, coffee table, and small dining table in room. The room layout is perfect. There are hammocks, beach chairs, picnic tables and propane bbq grills throughout the property. Each unit has its own outdoor furniture. You can walk on the dock and enjoy sunset. They provide you with a lot of towels. There is a pool on the property. The customer service is A1 from hotel. They even called me the day of my reservation and let me know my room was ready. Very nice touch that they have a small Christmas tree in the room. There is a restaurant on the property. TIP: between 3p.m. - 6p.m. they have happy hour with drinks and food. Drinks are pretty weak. I would have given this property 5 stars but there was no soap in my bathroom (I looked everywhere?) and the office closes at 5 p.m.
Stayed at the marina for 3 nights. The room was clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back for a longer visit next time. We also rented a boat for 2 days. The boat ran great, but the weather sucked. Not much Captain Pips can do about the wind.
Loved every part of it. From check-in to check-out, it was all so easy and welcoming that I would stay at one of these immaculate rooms any day. The room had amazing features and I wish I could have stayed longer. Sandy is very caring and radiates an atmosphere of Southern hospitality.
This hotel is comfortable, clean, full kitchen and well cared for. I was pleasantly surprised when I had to stay here to help a friend rebuild his house after the hurricane. Unlike other hotels they kept their rates very affordable in order to help with the recovery and for that alone they should be thanked. Staff are very friendly, great view of the 7 mile bridge. Kitchen is equipped with all your basic needs. Again I take my hat off to them for helping their community. You’ll be happy if you book here and will definitely be back.
The snorkling trip to Sombrero Reef is fantastic. The price includes all gear, so it's cheaper than many of the Bahia Honda tours. Capt Dan and first mate Travis were very professional, yet fun. Highly recommend!
Great home atmosphere. I enjoyed watching the sunrise and sunset from bedroom.. The apartment was clean and everything was well thought of. They provided beach towels, huge cooler, coffee, kitchen utensils and even dish soap. The kitchen at the Dolphin apartment is dated but in good shape. I'm looking forward to going back with my friends and family.
Great time. If you are expecting the Hyatt, stay at the Hyatt. If you are familiar with the real keys, stay here. Great single room efficiently. Stayed in swordfish. Spotlessly clean. Ceiling was cracked, but hey who cares! Refer to earlier in the post. The price for what you get cannot be beat in marathon. I didn't get all the tv channels, but didn't complain because I didn't hang out during day long enough to care.
We stayed here in April' 17 and I must say that it was an excellent decision to choose this place. We booked it online based on the reviews from other travellers. Our first impression of the place was not so good as the front check in office is a tiny makeshift cabin and we were wondering how the rooms would be. But everything from that point forward was perfect. We stayed in waterfront sombrero room. It had a rustic feel with an awesome view. The place was clean and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Heated pool, patio for grilling are some to name. Kitchen was functional had a separate dining area. We would definitely stay here again in our next trip to the Keys.
Second visit. We will be back for a third.
For my Wife and I , the Jellyfish Apartment is perfect
Steps from our boat and minutes to great fishing and lobstering. The room is always clean and welcoming. Staff always attentive and even patient.
Thank you for another great trip!
What an outstanding experience. Booked at the last minute and the staff was very accommodating and professional. The boat was fantastic. Had it for two days and we had the time of our life visiting Sombrero Key, Bamboo Key, and several other must see locations only accessible via boat. Christine was especially helpful and was there for any and all questions. I highly recommend Captain Pip's over any other boat rental agency. A+++++++.
I had a good meal of pork and cheesy grits. The pork was well flavored and the sauces at the table added a nice spice. The grits were good and tasty. The restaurant is quaint and well maintained on a little harbor. The views aren't great but better than many others. A good meal for a good price.
My husband and I stayed here during a weekend getaway to do some Tarpon Fishing. The location was easy to find and the office was right on the road connected to the restaurant. We checked in after hours and picked up our keys in the drop box left for us.
Finding the room was ready enough, but knowing where to park was another issue. There wasn't any clear area and with the few residential properties in-between the the rentals, it was confusing.
The rooms were great. Nicely decorated with a ocean feel. Beach towels were provided as well as a cooler for fish if we needed. The bathrooms were updated and very nice.
The property had a slip, marina, restaurant, and pool available to us. All were in great condition. Other than the parking, we had a great time. It was centrally located with plenty of dining options all around. We would stay here again.
Great Snorkeling Experience
Really enjoyed snorkeling with Captain Pip's. I would recommend bringing water, crackers, and a towel. Put on sunscreen before you go and be prepared to leave your shoes at the dock. The prescription goggles made the experience so much better, and I would recommend the added rental if you wear glasses. The had a few different strengths for us to try and all three of us were able to find a great fit. The trip out to the reef was about a half hour, we were in the water for about an hour and a half and a half hour boat ride back. It may not sound like a lot of time in the water, but it was more then enough for our party. The boat is nice and spacious, there were 14 of us and plenty of room to walk around. There is a netted are in the front of the boat that you can sit on and be very close to the water.
The First Mate and Captain were really great about explaining each part of the trip, the gear, the history and the rules. The First Mate was super nice the whole time I was sea sick. Tip: start taking Dramamine the night before if you think you may get sea sick. The boat ride out to Sombrero reef was really nice and the Captain made it a lot of fun for the kids on the boat (we got soaked). The water was a bit strong for me so I did not go far from the boat, but I could still see a good portion of the reef, lots of fish, jellyfish, and a sea turtle! It was a great trip and something I would try again with Captain Pip's.
