I was visiting my grandparents, who live in Florence. They live away from the town and there isn't much to do at their house. They took us here for a fun thing to do, and I LOVED it. We spent at least two hours walking the trails and admiring the plants. The amount of plants they have is crazy and I loved seeing them!

What are my absolute favorite places in the world. A wonderful park with an amazing assortment of desert plants from around the world. If you come during the rainy season in Winter you can see Queen Creek flowing.

Wonderful state park about 50 miles from Phoenix. Absolutely worth the drive! Make sure you bring a picnic basket and stay for lunch. Also several times a year they have a plant sale were you can buy lovely succulents and cacti.

Gem not far from Phoenix. Loved our hike. Had a picnic lunch. Drive from Phoenix is nice.

Beautiful State Park and a great place to hike. Lots of varieties of cactus, succulents and wildflowers to witness. I saw a couple of gila lizards and countless butterflies. The park also has a lake but not sure if swimming is allowed. No access to Picket Post House though.

This place was so fun and neat to go to. It really shows you the different type of wild life and landscape that Arizona has to offer. Sadly I didn't have enough time (or the right shoes) to really explore this place to the extent that I wanted to. I would definitely go again and suggest others to go as well.

A favorite spot for spring. Gorgeous grounds, great hiking trails full of fauna & flora, amazing displays of plants from every continent. Have a calendar full of events, including a wonderful spring plant sale and nature hikes. Dogs ARE welcome - on leash of course. Bring a picnic and enjoy the hummingbirds and butterflies. We bring every AZ visitor here and it is always loved.

Beautiful place to visit any time of the year. But Spring brings out all the gorgeous blooms to enjoy as well. You can walk the trails or enjoy the great picnic grounds. Love it!

I've loved the Boyce Thompson Arboretum both times I have been. Once in the fall and once in the spring. Tons of beautiful plants, scenery and wildlife for photographers, and enough interesting places to hike for non-photographers.

Beautiful trail to hikeI would call it more if a nature walk, myself. But we enjoy outdoor adventure. But it is about 2.5 miles, according to my GPS, around the loop. My nearly 4 year olds walked the whole way just fine. There are tons of beautiful plants here And you get to go inside a historic old home towards the end of the trail. Very beautiful. But can get hot!!! Plan accordingly, go early, and bring enough h2o! This is Arizona people! It gets hot, quickly! Be smart!

Admission is very reasonable. There is much to see here. Volunteer workers are very nice and they like to answer questions. There is a lot of wildlife to see. Butterflies, birds, rabbits, hummingbirds, and the occasional bobcat too. Lots of flowers in spring and fall colors can be amazing! Kids may like it on a short trip.
