It was all and we'll. Checked in and that first night went ok. None of the ice machines worked until we went to the far end of the building and found ONE working ice machine. All of the vending machines are empty too. Breakfast the first morning left much to be desired. The juice machine was clearly broken. There were no eggs. The milk was empty. We then got some supposedly discounted tickets (haven't seen the bill since they were charged to the room)for the ferry. That trip across the bay went well actually. The problems came when we got back. There was no help at all at the front desk. None. There was, however, a sign saying to dial 0 or a number given on that paper, if help was needed. We figured "whatever. Ok." Next issue came when we went to get some more ice, but now THAT one single working ice machine that worked.. stopped working. Called 0 from the room and it rang unendingly. Called the other number and got the same result. We will be leaving in the morning after what I assume will be another disappointing breakfast if there is one at all. We do plan on another visit to Mackinaw, but will decidedly NOT be staying at the Bay Side. Ever.
Cancelled room 72rs in advance, charged us 95.00 no call no show fee. Next day arrived to check in at 4pm and they rebooked room, and earliest we could check -in was 1 pm. Tried to contact manager 3 different times never could contact him. Finally after 3 calls they blocked my number , called from another phone they acted like they did not block it and said he did not want to talk,Had to drive 1 hr south to closest available hotel room. Building looked old and outdated .
Good rooms. Excellent cleanliness. Fantastic prices. Opposite side of the street for a true lake view but still visible. Near practically everything in town.
Bayside Hotel was a nice stay for our family of 4. The room was clean, if a little outdated. One thing that disturbed me was an opened coffee bag was left in our room by the previous guest and not thrown away or replaced. If they missed that, I wondered what else they could have missed while cleaning and tidying. The "water park" was rather nice and my two younger children enjoyed it. It was essentially a splash pad adjacent to a pool and a large hot tub. The hotel was in a great location within walking distance of downtown and the ferry docks. Overall a nice place and we'll probably visit again on our next Mackinac vacation.
This is one of the dirtiest hotels I've ever stayed in. The lady at the front desk is very rude and talks to you as if she's sick of dealing with people, our room had crumbs lining one whole wall between the bed and the wall where it's not a struggle to fit a vacuum. As soon as we pulled back the blankets we found hair on the sheets as if it had never been changed, one of the pillow cases looked like it had a splattered mud stain or mold. the windows and even the corners of the walls in the hallway have spider webs with tons of bugs stuck in them. They bait you in by advertising a water park &a pool, but it is shared with the hotel next door, that you have to walk through to get there. The hallways were lined with OPEN trash bags and housekeeping carts even after 6pm. Stay somewhere else.
I would avoid staying in this hotel. There was a pile of water in the room. This hotel looks dirty and rusted. The lake view room is a joke, you are basically looking through a small window with spider webs and mold. They did not have a crib. The breakfast area is shared with multiple hotels and it was not sufficient to host the crowd when we stayed there. One of the very few good things about this hotel was the water park which is also shared by several hotels. It is also very close to the ferry that goes to Mackinac island.
The room was well cleaned, staff was very friendly, and the Breakfast was tasty.
First time I visited Mackinac and stayed off the island. It was a very nice hotel
If only could give negative stars I would. Customer service is nonexistent. If you don't ask about the pool area check in they don't tell you the procedure. You have to get a former from them to take to the other hotel to get a wrist band to use the water park. Samantha is very rude and disrespectful. She wouldn't know what good customer service was if it walked up and introduced itself. No view of the bridge. Do not book here. Run the other way. The pictures lie.
Pretty standard hotel room. Check in was weird, they had you go to another hotel to check in, then come back to the actual hotel to get keys. The water park was pretty cool and the hot tub was huge. Would stay again but hopefully they get the check in thing figured out.
Very close to two ferries to the island, just a quick walk. Full breakfast buffet was great. Kids loved the waterpark. Just wish it were a little closer to town for walking: about a half mile to get to anything other than more hotels.
