This campground is the most well kept I've seen. It has showers, bathrooms, a store with an ice cream counter. Very helpful staff as well and its just minutes from the bridge. All my information was saved from the previous year so check in was quick and easy.
Excellent staff tent camping site was clean a good size the camp store has everything you need from rv supplies to tent repair supplies they have drinks hand dipped ice cream pizza donuts in the morning. They sell alcohol on the camp store as well. Discount tickets to the island can be purchased at the store you can also rent bikes from the store to take to the island with you as well. Bathrooms are really clean and well taken care of, even the pit toilets are some of the best and cleanest I have seen. You can walk through the campground and get a really good view of the Mackinac Bridge. Pet friendly they even have a dog park for you furry camp buddies.
Beautiful location, affordable and family friendly.
Cons: Quite LOUD traffic off US23 if you are camped near there, and the speed limit in the park didn't seem to be enforced. We had children walking to and from the playground with large trucks driving at least 30 through the park. Made for a very nerve racking few nights. It is posted as 5 mph, which was wonderful when obeyed.
Beach area was gorgeous and on the whole it was a great visit. We've discussed another trip, just far far away from the highway side.
Check in staff were polite and efficient, restroom staff left a bit to be desired. It would be very helpful to note which times the restrooms are unavailable, as there are pretty large distances between facilities, and it was a near superhuman feat to get my toddler a half mile away without an accident after being told they were closed.
All in all a good trip, many memories made :)
Nice campground. Big, but plenty of space, and the way it's set up it makes you feel like you have some privacy. Good facilities. Firewood $3/bundle right there on the spot. Fire pit rings a little beat up, but hey, it's a campground. Picnic tables solid. Convenience store right in the center. Friendly people at the front desk, and just a mile or two out of Mackinaw City. We are heading back Labor Day weekend here soon. Great job!
Mill Creek Campground is a pretty nice place. Very big and lots of room to walk, bike and just hang out. The lake and bridge view is beautiful. Very easy excess to the lake. Peaceful and enjoyable. My only complaint would be if you want a camp site closer to the water they are pretty small sites. Other than that we had a great time.
Took my family for the first time this past weekend and it was absolutely perfect and amazingly kid friendly! So much to do and anything you may have forgotten to bring, you can buy for a great price at their little store. Restrooms were always clean and staff was very caring and polite. Easy and fast check in and out! If you're looking for a great place to camp and make some great memories with your family this is the place to go to! Made the seven hour drive worth it and we will be coming back here every year from now on!
Excellent campground. My family and I and friends have been going there for years. They have great views. This year we stayed in the cabins. They were very clean. Campground is also close to Mackinaw City and about 15 to 20 minutes away from my Walmart just down in Cheboygan.
Man, it just does NOT get any better than this place. We always grab a cabin and enjoy the best week of our summers here.
The good: We were here tent camping. We really liked all the activities, the park store, the view. We had a bridge view lot, and the view was amazing. There were lots of playgrounds for our preschool age children, and they LOVED the fire truck. The pool was clean and warm. The bathrooms were pristine and conveniently located.
The bad: We went in early June and the bugs were horrendous. We couldn't even sit by our fire they were so thick. They didn't bite, but they were EVERYWHERE. The site was also extremely small. Our 8 person tent nearly filled it. The ground was very hard and rocky. There were lots of roads to bike on, but there was also a lot of traffic.
Roads are a 'bit' narrow. The speed limit of 5mph makes it safe, but finding somewhere to pull off when someone's going the other way was still difficult in places. Nice staff. The lots weren't overly large or small. Enough room for the camper and vehicle, but then not a lot of room for us. Absolutely beautiful view of lake/straights. Facilities were just 'okay'.
We go every single year and love it! The cabins are so reasonably priced, and they even have options if you want to rent a campsite. We love that it's far enough out of town to be peaceful, but close enough that you are downtown in 5 minutes (driving time). If you don't feel like going in town or on the island there is plenty to do at this campground: swimming, mini golf, arcade, bike rentals, and a nice play ground.
