A Christmas tradition in the middle of downtown little Bavaria. All you can eat family style cooking specializing in ther famous chicken dinner. ( Other options are excellent and available ) Starting portions are kind of small, but server will bring more if requested. Great for all types of parties and functions. For larger groups reservations are recommended. Wait times may be quite long as the restaurant is a destination of its own. Full bake shop and boutique stores (including a beer and wine shop) are a downstairs visit that needs to be taken.

Good food and atmosphere comes in this little Bavarian hamlet based establishment. The waitstaff is friendly and accomodating. Especially to large groups as I happened to be apart of. They also have a gluten free and vegetarian menu for those that require it.
All in all a wonderful night spent in a wonderful place.response / report this review -

Good traditional chicken restaurant
Servers wear German outfits. Chicken pot pies are delicious, wish they had a gluten free version. They do have gluten free options. Food is expensive. Can easily spend $50 for 2 with dessert (very good and homemade). Also serve family style chicken dinners. Servers are prompt and helpful. Can be crowded, best to go on weekdays or odd times.response / report this review -

The Bavarian Inn is a long time Michigan favorite. Although criticized by some as very touristy (it is), it is also a lot of fun with great, family friendly food. The chicken is good, but the many side dishes make the meal. My Bavaria-born mother-in-law enjoyed the German entrees very much. Try the flights of wine or beer to compliment your meal.

For how "famous" the chicken dinners are claimed to be they're really not that mind-blowing. I didn't enjoy our experience here for how much money I spent, it was ridiculous! Quantity, sure! Quality for price, NO WAY. Very disappointed in my almost $70 meal. The only things I can say were good were the chicken (my grandma makes better), mashed potatoes, and pasta salad. Everything else was pretty gross, they really need to work on their sides! Our waiter Joe was awesome and served us well. Even gave us a HUGE cupcake for our anniversary. Other than that, not thrilled at all and probably won't return.

Great service and lots of good food. Friendly staff and fun atmosphere. Had a great time and definitely want to go back. The kids especially loved the accordion player, she was very talented and interactive with the guests.

Rude, slow, and expensive. Would give them zero if I could. Food was just okay. Jeffrey was our waiter and was the worst I've ever had. Rude, sassy, and slow. Gave us attitude when we asked for the check and took 10 minutes to get them to us and it wasn't even busy. Gave us a smart remark for basically every question or statement we gave. I'm guessing the fact that they tack on 20% tip automatically for parties of 6 or more assures him easy money when food is $20 a plate. If you're still set on going, avoid Jeffrey because he is a rude and narcissistic jerk. There are much nicer restaurants in Helen. Pass in this place.

Sat outside for a quick lunch. Ordered the chicken club and a glass of Chardonnay. Small pour on the wine. Not worth the $8. Sandwich was a bit pricey. The cranberry relish was quite delicious.

We love to come here as a family and get the all you can eat chicken dinner. While it's a bit pricey, the experience is top notch and all the side dishes are really fun.
I would avoid this place like the plague during the holiday though. Lines and wait times are crazy. But once you get a table, the food comes quick and the chicken is amazing. Juicy, hot and properly seasoned without being too seasoned. We particularly like the cranberry relish and the buttered noodles.

As a culinary instructor I would rate the Bavarian Inn food quality Pat average or below the chicken was okay but some of the side dishes leave things to be desired. The stuffing is sticky and almost like cement the warm side dishes are barely warm. I would rate their servers at least Katie the one we had at about a two and a half as far as attentiveness and a desire to please. I have been to the Bavarian Inn many times before and it seems that the quality of the food and service is going down because the ownership is trying to cut corners to increase their profit margin. This last time we were told the ice cream machines at gone down so we were brought a dry cake a little bigger than a cupcake which was supposed to serve 4 people. Yet on our way out I saw three different tables being served ice cream which makes me wonder about our server.

Phenomenal food. Wonderful atmosphere. Workers in outfits to match the atmosphere. Well trained employees that got every step of the dinner right. I very much liked the accordion playing as he walked around the restaurant. The prices were a little high but it was very much worth it.

Beautiful decor and atmosphere. The servers are dressed to blend in and are incredibly polite. However it is very expensive for a quite normal meal. Normal meaning you can make in your house. I feel the price is more due to the great amount of food than the quality.

It came so highly recommended we couldn't wait to visit. It was not what we expected at all. The decor was super out dated and dirty. The costumes the poor servers were wearing looked so uncomfortable and old. We felt sorry for them. The food was SUPER expensive. We shared one meal and it was plenty as we were just trying those dishes for the first time. Our server was super nice she did an awesome job.

Great service. It is a very authentic place from the served outfits to the decor and the food itself. If your here you should have at least one meal here. You won't regret it. The Chicken is what they are famous for but the rest of the menu is great too.

Great food and in great quantity! You never go away from here hungry! Special party packages available for different occasions. Check out their website for details. The amazing staff must walk millions of miles a year. Family owned and operated.
