Big place! Parking is expensive. The parking is usually $20 and they ONLY take cash. Drop off parking is available but beware, you WONT be able to pick up until half the parking lots are empty, according to the SAPD. Lots of bathrooms, temperature can be chilly inside, sp bring a sweater. Be prepared to walk far no matter whateven inside. Wear very comfy shoes. Oh, usually requires clear bags only, no purses, bags, or backpacks. Last even I attended was a college graduation and they sent me back to my car because I brought my purse. So just beware.
Expensive parking ($20 per car) and a ridiculous amount of walking before you get to the gates!
Then once the event is over be prepared to wait before traffic clears enough for the parking lots to start emptying.
Other than that it's actually OK. Four huge TV screens (one per corner) as well as the center screens.
Large venue. Paid parking. Must pay again upon reentry if having to depart briefly.
No outside food or beverages. Review large bag guidelines as all are screened.
Reasonable ADA accommodations.
Online tickets and will call availability.
Event for graduation. Parking was 20 dollars a lot of traffic trying to get into the parking lot. You have to walk around 5-10mins to get inside the venue. Sound and screens wonderful we could see everything. Good expensive but like in any event.
Tons of parking space available (even though it means greater walking distance). The food can be extremely expensive when the quality is not top notch, but it's worth overlooking when you have great amenities such as several different restrooms and tons of seats. However, the seats do feel a little too small sometimes. I do love the recent renovation with the newer screen on the corners, and the buzzing sound isn't heard as much. Very nice dome.
If I could rate this venue as a zero, I would. In a state that touts itself as being friendly, in a city that prides itself on its hospitality, the clear bag policy at the San Antonio Alamodome, developed under the aegis of security, has turned this venue into a decisively unfriendly location that is downright inhospitable towards women, parents of small children, and Travellers of all sorts. If your bag is greater than 6“ x 6“, expect that you will to be turned aside at the security station unless said bag is made of absolutely clear plastic. Even if your bag meets the limitation on material, nothing larger than 12” by 12” is approved. So plan on everything you want to bring with you fitting into a gallon ziplock baggie and being viewable to everyone around you. I am fortunate that when it happened to me, I only lost the $5 I paid to park in a small private lot half a mile away. I can only imagine the outrage of people who may have paid in excess of $100 for a higher end show. Be warned that online ticket sale sites may not warn the buyer of this issue before selling them a ticket (or after).
I have seen metallica and a couple of games here. Food and drinks are ok. Parking prices are not too bad if you do not park close. Like that it is not too far from bars downtown. Acoustics are much better since they were upgraded. Use back streets to get there.
Awesome sports venue for south Texas. Yes, the parking situation can be complicated if you don't show up super early, but I just park at a parking garage downtown and walk over here. (I don't mind walking!) Typical, overpriced food at the concession stands but good seats, clean restrooms, and friendly staff. Maybe someday they can build a multi-level garage or buy up some of the rickety looking real estate near buy and turn it into more parking.
I was sharing information about indoor air quality and how 25% of lung cancer is caused from poor indoor air quality. We offer solutions to fix that. I am here with Kendall County Air Conditioning. Thanks for all the support from our staff and clients. Come check out our booth tomorrow. Hours for Sunday is 11 am to 7 pm.
It's good place to watch sports and musical entertainment. Except for baseball. Great location in SA to watch a game but its a shame its not built to support a good baseball field. I wish it had added evaluators during their renovations because it can be tough to climb those stairs. Still pretty limited on choices at the concession stands. Food and drinks can be costly for the quality/quantity. The reflective tape on a lot of the steps need to be done because they are hard to see and can lead to accidents.
This place is all about making money. I went to watch my son's graduation at this place and at first it was only going to be $10 for parking but then a week before graduation the Alamodome changed the price to $15 for parking. And of course they won't let you bring in any outside food or drink because they want to charge you $9 for a small soda they're at the concession stand or $8 for some cold nacho cheese and chips. Seems like if they were going to charge that much money they could at least have decent food. But nope, they don't! And the bathrooms were disgusting and smell like urine. So obviously they didn't clean the bathrooms from the last event they had. Nothing like the smell of urine to make a festive time!
This brings so many memories to me. A great area with a verity of events. Well air conditioned.
Point of entry of the Alamodome was not convenient. They should have had the entry at the center of where the graduation was happening. There were a lot of handicapped people that had to go completely around to where the graduation was happening.. please reconsider the entry during graduations.
came to a graduation. Poor stage design. If your not in front of it you cant see cause the have the stage surrounded by a "U" shaped curtain. Other than that, temperature good, sound system adequate, staff helping the old folks great. OMG the food expensive (eat before you come).
It was an amazing place for big events in San Antonio. But there is no restaurants nearby within walking distance. If an all-day convention didn't have enough food, then I'm screwed. It was a lot of walking across the treeless parking lot in that Texas heat. I didn't care for the railroad separating parking lot and stadium. Just added more walking.
