Alfonso's has potential to be great if they give more love to more of the menu. The empinadas were the stand out, with meaty chunks, thick juices and a quality pastry with a woodfired char. Not the best we've ever had but still right up there. The paella was good but not great. The rice grains were shiny, firm and loose and there was a good portion of meat but the dish lacked that irresistible, smokey, grill flavour that paella lovers crave. The lamb skewers were the disappointment of the meal, having no marinade, no flavour. But the chimichuri that came with the empinadas made an excellent brush-on marinade for the lamb, turning a flat dish into something bursting with big flavours. If only they'd joined the dots themselves and brushed the lamb with chimichuri before and after grilling. We passed this feedback onto the kitchen. Let me know if they make the change. We're in no rush to go back but it's still a restaurant we'd give a second look.

Excellent food, friendly and professional service. We shared an entree and ordered a main each, both were amazing and we were stuffed!
