Went to Sandos Playacar Beach Resort April 15-22 for a wedding. They did an amazing job. The setup on the beach, cocktail bar and dinner was well done. Food was pretty good. DJ was awesome. It was the perfect wedding!! The resort itself is clean and the staff are very friendly. Luis and Wilbert at the adult swim up bar were awesome. Very generous with the drinks!! Buffets and restaurants had lots to offer. The rooms are spacious with a great view. The only downfall.housekeeping. They either need more training or they are overworked. They weren't very good at replenishing our room with towels, clean cups, TP or coffee supplies. Other than thatI would go back. It's a nice place to relax and enjoy the sunshine!

Water in the pool was freezing cold, even if the temperature outside was very nice. The food had no taste. The staff was not that friendly, except for the spa and bars. Entertainment is good for the elders or if you have some drinks. Missing amenities in the room. Bathroom is spacious and the bed is large. Lots of cats on the premises and other harmless animals

Enjoyed a 1 week stay here with my wife. Very relaxing. The room was very nice with an always filled mini-fridge which is included in the all-inclusive price. The beach was spectacular and very clean. They do have shuttles for those who do not want to take the long walk back to the front half of the resort. Restaurants are good. Our favorite was the Italian.

This place was a bit depressing. Food was variable - breakfast okay but dinner bordering on disgusting. Paid for the premium adults only package. Several drinks but never a buzz. Loads of staff are sales people in disguise. Although the beach was the one redeeming factor, all of the resorts have it. All in all I would say avoid. For a bit more you can find a number of lovely resorts all with better qualityeverything! (And I never write reviews but this place was so bad I felt I had to warn others).

The resort is very nice. There are many food options and we found all to be quite good, with the exception of the Brazilian Restaurant; I would recommend skipping this one. Most of the meat was dry. The Italian, Asian, and Mexican restaurants were great. And you did not need reservations for the restaurants. The pool is very nice and works well for sitting and lounging. The spa was great; however the spa staff who came to the pool to sell the services were a little relentless and it got to be too much. Even though we had already booked services they continued to pepper us with questions and get us to book more. There were plenty of chairs at the beach and by the pool. Beach has smooth sand and activities each day. Nighttime entertainment was decent.

Great get away hotel.
The staff is very helpful and courteous.
Everything is really all inclusive. Including the Margaritas.
The beach is magnificent white and the sea is amazingly blue.
Ask for a beach front room, it is well worth it, since the hotel area is very big.response / report this review -

Love this resort. Food is good, drinks are cold, service is decent, nice pool and perfect beach. I didn't like that when I went to the guest services desk to ask for directions, I got a high pressure sales pitch because there is already too much of that here. Other than that, it's a great place.

Nice resort. We stayed in the newer adults only section near the reception. This is as far as you can get from the beach. The adults only pool was excellent and of course the staff throughout were first class.
We had a few issues with the room, safe not working, phone not working, lights not working. But these were promptly dealt with after a trip to the front desk.
The entertainment was very average and seemed to be aimed at 8 to 10 year olds so I didn't manage to sit through to the end any night. I understand the limitations in budget and also trying to cater to the variety of ages but the entertainment really was amateurish.
I thought the food was excellent and we especially enjoyed the French restaurant.
A couple of our party got sick after eating in the Italian so I didn't try that one.response / report this review -

Huge resort but decent food. The decor is nice. The rooms are average. Restaurants are good. The staff was nice. The beach is good but the chairs are so far back and shade is lacking. I’ve been to over 15 all inclusives and while this one was good it definitely was at the lower end of my experiences.
Was here for a wedding. Cut off our bracelets for the wedding and they gave us a huge hassle to get them back on. Like come on we have a huge group of people sent to your resort paying to be here for the wedding never less the cost of the wedding. And only the mom and dad and bridal party cut off the bracelets like 10 people max. I would be SO mad if I have a blue or gold wristband in all my wedding photos. Also with the different “levels” of wristbands they also gave us hassle at the adult pools about a few of us being there without the right wristband even though we are all adults and it’s not even that busy. And we are here for a wedding as stated above. For weddings they should be a bit more helpful with the areas and bands for the wedding. I understand the policy is there for reasons but when you say I was in the wedding can I please get a new wristband there should be no problem it shouldn’t be a hassle.response / report this review -

The place was a great value for the money. Overall, we had a fantastic trip! Only two complaints: They push time shares on people and it borders on harassment. Sorry, but we won't take out a loan for vacations- that's absurd. Second (and the biggest reason I'm not giving it 4 or 5 stars): our room REEKED of mold. It was so awful, I could barely sleep. However- the wonderful staff were great and gave us a de-humidifier (which we literally had to empty 4-5 times each day). If we choose to return (the beach was fantastic, by the way!), we will stay closer to the beach because we were all the way on the other side of the resort- maybe the rooms further away don't stink like mold? Other than that- some of the restaurants were great, beach was beautiful- friendly staff. They need to update the moldy part of the resort!

Giving this place two stars is very generous. When we first arrived the line was long to check in and when we finally got up there the ladies at the front desk were very unhelpful. They didn't even explain where our rooms were or anything else about the resort. They also said our luggage would be there in 5 minutes, two hours later and we were calling the bellboy for 30 minutes because of the busy sound. When we decided to walk up to the main lobby we found a shuttle guy and he generously grabbed our bags for us. Don't bother trying to call anyone on the phone because nobody will answer and even if they do they won't understand you. The food was extremely disappointing and they only had one place for breakfast, the one appetizer I enjoyed was cold the second time. You truly need to know Spanish in order to go here because almost nobody speaks any other languages. Asked for a new comforter and never got it. Although this may sound picky there was very few spots for wifi. People were smoking above our room and it was very evident by the smell in our bathroom.
We had to change rooms because our air conditioner was lacking and the other room smelled like something died in it. Don't waste your time!!!response / report this review -

Second year visiting Sandos Playacar. The people here are great and the food is great. The nightly entertainment is amazing. From last year to this Sandos has stepped up their game on their costumes. Every night they have a different show. They also have different activities on the beach everyday. Lots of fun even if you don't step off the resort. The one big complaint I have is the Royal Elite. Last year my husband and I purchased the Discovery timeshare from the Royal Elite. We came in last year through RCI and the Royal Elite gave us the best of everything and showed us the best of everything. This year we used the time purchased from the Royal Elite and was not given what they had promised the year before. Very disappointing. We were placed in a Jr. Suite which is pretty small for a family of 5. Very disappointing after staying in an hacienda the year before and mislead to believing we would stay in them when using the time purchased. The resort is very nice, but we will not be staying here again. To bad the Royal Elite ruined it. I took many family members here this year because of the great service last year.

Sandos Playacar enables a fantastic vacation. We recently traveled to Mexico and stayed at Sandos with two other couples. The beach is fantastic and the adult section, although a good ten minute walk from the beach, is great. Service at the adult pool was fantastic (David E and Luis) and the food is good. Beach, Service, and surroundings are awesome. Rooms, Pools, food, and communication (English) was very good. Food wasn't five-star, but I didn't need to wear a suit or even long pants so it was great for me! You'll see coati (animal) around the pool, they're harmless and fun to watch. We saw a couple monkey from our room at the extreme back of the resort against the jungle. Items that could be improved - in-room refrigerators aren't very cold, several tiles need fixing in the adult pool, safe in room was not bolted to wall, golf cart shuttle from adult arena needs to run more frequently, and Sandos should clearly identify who works for the hotel (to help me) and who works for the Vacation Club (to sell the Royal Club). I want to be clear that this is a very nice hotel! I would NOT HESITATE to return.

Fantastic location, great beach , quiet adults only area, awesome activities during the week, safe family areas, very impressive restaurants, good cultural entertainment in the evenings, friendly and very helpful staff, beautiful rooms and phenomenal gardens with positive affirmations and cat sanctuary.
Amazing spa and members area. Bonus golf course and great adventure packages from sky diving to fishing to kite surfing and open water dives.response / report this review -

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Always willing to help. Town is close enough to walk. Very quiet when you need it to be. We were in a hacienda this stay and it was great. Not a far walk to food drinks or beach. If you are thinking of joining their vaction club consider hitting me up and I'll flip you a VIP referral.

This is our first all inclusive resort abs we couldn't be happier. Everyone is so friendly, the service is great, and the junior suite is fantastic. The adult only section is great if you don't have kids, although a lot of the "adults" act more like teenagers.
I would absolutely recommend this resort and if you're into diving, Dressel is awesome. Book ahead online and get a discount.response / report this review -

Huge resort! But well taken care off, rooms are very comfortable, we got upgraded to an hacienda, perfect for families. Food is very tasty and full of options, the only thing they could really improve is coffee. Be aware: 80% argentinians 20% from USA it's a funny combination. The beach is spacious and it has a lot of places to rest, activities are going on all day long right there. I surely recommend it specially for families.

A group of 6 of us, 3 couples, stayed here for a week and it was amazing. Food and drinks were plentiful and very good. We stayed in the adult only section of the resort, which is furthest from the beach, but we needed the walking after eating so much. They do have shuttle drivers on golf carts if don't feel like walking. The rooms were clean and modern. The bar staff at the adult pool were terrific! They would bring our favorite drinks and never let us go thirsty. Carlos, the activities director at the pool made sure everyone had great time. Shout-out to David and Luis at the bar as well! They run a well orchestrated at Sandos Playacar and all the staff were very friendly and willing to help. There were plenty of activities and excursions to choose from and town was close by for shopping. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. Take aways - bring plenty of cash for tipping, don't over eat, get to the beach early to get seats in the shade, tip the beach server well so you don't have to wait in line at the bar, bring your own mask and snorkel if going snorkeling, and have fun.
