We hat a great experience with MK Car Rental.
Kjartan was very helpful and we always got very fast replies to all our questions before coming to Iceland.
The car is perfect to travel around Iceland as it is really dependable and you can drive on F-roads, too.
I forgot my sunglasses in the car: luckily we did spend two nights in Reykjavik before flying home so we contacted Kjartan again and Kjartan's Dad met us at the airport before we got on the plane. This was very nice of them and is what I call excellent customer service.
If we ever do return to Iceland we would definitely rent a car with MK Car Rental again.response / report this review -

We had a wonderful 2 weeks trip with a brand new 4x4 camper we rented from MK Car Rental. We had no issues with the car, the weather was amazing and the nature was beautiful. Thank you Kjartan and MK Car Rentals!

We had kind of a late booking, so our only option was a 2001 4x4 car with probably even older camper on top. But it came with a really good price, comparing to the other offers. We've had a great two weeks traveling across Iceland in this car and sleeping in the camper. Every day was an adventure and we loved all of it. The car despite of its age drove us smooth and dry through some really big rivers, getting to places that normal cars can't go. The camper kept us warm and fed at night - no matter if we made it to a camping site, or just decided to sleep somewhere in a middle of nowhere because we were too tired to drive any further. All the time during our trip we had a great contact with Kjartan, who was giving us a great support, which we appreciated very much. 4x4 camper lets you to do and see things that most of the Icelanders haven't even done - it's definitely the preferred way to see Iceland.

We had an amazing time in Iceland, the camper was a real luxury, very warm and comfortable, we even had wi-fi! The service and communications from MK Car Rental was extraordinary. They did go above and beyond to answer all our questions and give advice about the country. It was the best holiday, thank you so much!

If you're considering a trip to Iceland & you don't want to miss out on seeing all of the wonders this country has to offer - I would highly recommend renting a 4x4 truck camper & the best of them all is MK Car Rental.
We returned from a 16 day adventure around Iceland just last week & we honestly enjoyed our time there so much that we didn't want to leave!
Knowing that it was only myself & my 13 year old daughter traveling, I was cautious about choosing the right vehicle/camper for us. I wanted a comfortable & dependable truck to take us safely on the highway as well as F Roads, which require 4 wheel drive. I wanted to flexibility to travel spontaneously without having to worry about staying near overnight accommodations too. So, having our Icelandic home with us wherever we went was fantastic! We spent as much or as little time in each location & had no problem finding camping grounds nearby without any planned out itinerary.
We rented the 2017 4x4 truck camper & spent many hours traveling in it. We had zero issues with the vehicle while driving nearly 2,000 miles during our trip. We got good fuel economy, especially considering the weight of the camper on the back. We had more than enough power to climb steep grades & we thoroughly enjoyed the blutooth sound system.Spotify road trip playlist! Woo-hoo!
Kjartan made the entire rental process easy & pleasant. He was always quick to respond to my questions & even met us in Selfoss so I could have my GoPro that I left behind for our trip without having to travel all the way back to Kevlavik. Kjartan is helpful & honest in his dealings Very fair. He will even pick you up & drop you off at the airport in a Mercedes Not too shabby! 😁
I didn't find an abundance of info online about MK before I booked so I was a little nervous not knowing for sure what to expect & I had read some awful stories about unscrupulous car rental companies in Iceland. But our experience with Kjartan & MK Car Rental was awesome from start to finish!
We loved Iceland & can't wait to return again & when we do, I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to rent a 4x4 truck camper from MK Car Rental again.response / report this review -

OUTSTANDING!!!! MK was the best choice I made in Iceland. Kjartan was extremely responsive to all our inquiries and helped us out late at night when I did a stupid (putting gasoline in diesel truck - note to US drivers: the green pump is gas in Europe. I was dazed from 27 hours of not sleeping and didn't pay attention until it was too late). MK had someone to siphon out the tank within about 20 minutes at 22:30 and about 100k from Keflavik. The truck was a perfect fit for me and my (grown) son. We had some other technical issues that I can't really blame on MK and they were extremely fair when we explained the issue. Please do yourself a favor and check them out. I will definitely be renting from them again when I go back. Many thanks to MK for a great trip!

I had a wonderful trip in Iceland with my family thanks to MK car rental. I got a 4x4 camper and it performed perfectly throughout my trip over the highlands and more. We liked the camper very much, it was comfortable enough for a two week trip with one child!! Many thanks to the MK team, I am waiting to come back!!
