Had no trouble with the car so service not really tested, but we had a hassle free trip to and from the airport even when bringing the car back before 7am. The service desk people were helpful both picking us up and getting us in the car.

Very kind people at the counter..explained all the ins and out of renting and getting gas back into car. Did not make me feel bad when I came back to them a second time worried about catching an early flight. Very nice driver picking up from airport. .helpful suggestions :)

Definitely recommend getting the unlimited WiFi add on! So helpful with being able to use Google Maps. Was great having our own way to explore!

I was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews on here, but thought I'd balance out the negative ones with my own, personal, positive experience. The cheap rates are very good value and the car was in good condition. The staff were friendly (especially the Manager) and efficient. Unfortunately we were hit by another car while we were parked in the Blue Lagoon, so had to make a claim on our (third party, online) insurance. Although the repair costs were perhaps higher than in other parts of the world, we received the full documentation we needed (plus refund) from Hasso/NU within a couple of days and this was all we needed to recover all our costs from our insurance company. PLEASE TAKE OUT FULL COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE, either before you arrive or with the rental company, as repair costs are high and all it takes is another driver's incompetent driving to leave you with the bill.

Not thrilled with the “off hours” charge for our flight arriving before they were open. Not a very friendly staff. The price and the car were fine otherwise, but watch out for the very high hold they put on your card for using your own insurance.

They were a very friendly car rental, spoke good English. They said that we could get free coffee in all the gas stations with this car rental company. The car was pretty good. We also had a flexible place to drop the car off before we could take our return flights.

I fully recommend this company after renting a car in October '17, and travelling around 3000 km with it. Very kind and friendly service. Fast transfer from and to the airport, despite 2h delayed flight, which arrived Iceland at 10 pm. New car without any defects. No problems with return. Low prices compared to other companies in region. Whole advance returned to my account very quickly.

PAY A LITTLE MORE AND RENT FROM A BIG COMPANY!

WE WERE GIVEN A CAR WITH SCRATCHES ALL OVER, BROKEN FOG LIGHT AND WAS TOLD THEY HAVE 100 PICTURES, SO NO WORRIES ON RETURNING, WE WERE CHARGED FOR 4350 CAD FOR POSSIBLE REPAIR. PROBABLY THIS IS THEIR REAL MONEY MAKING BUSINESS. LATER WE GOT INVOICE TO REPAIR 1CM SCRATCH FOR 2500 CANADIAN DOLLARS! UNBELIEVABLE!!! RENTED MANY CARS IN CANADA, USA AND EUROPE AND NEVER HAD THAT ISSUE BEFORE!

COMMUNICATING BY EMAIL AFTER MY TRIP WAS NOT HELPFUL IN RESOLVING THE ISSUE!

AS THEY TOLD US THEY FOUND A 1CM SCRATCH ON THE HOOD. THAT SCRATCH WAS ALREADY THERE! I TRIED TO PROVE MYSELF BUT WE WERE 2 HRS BEFORE OUR FLIGHT DEPARTURE AND NO TIME TO ARGUE.
THEY SHOWED ON THEIR COMPUTER THE PICS OF THE HOOD CLAIMING THE DAMAGE WAS NOT THERE BEFORE OUR PICKUP. THEIR PICTURES ARE LOW QUALITY AND TAKEN INSIDE GARAGE. YOU CAN NOT SEE ANYTHING ON THEIR PICTURES. ALSO I THINK THEY USE PHOTOSHOP TO HIDE SCRATCHES ON THEIR PHOTOS!

Place is a scam, they charge huge amounts for small scratches from normal wear and tare. Thats how they make money. They take about 100 photos prior to picking up the car and search for the smallest nicks when you come back

Rented an captiva in August 2017. Although we had some smaller issues with that car the stuff was awesome! They handled things quick and did a perfect job! They were fast on answering any questions before the rent and also during our trip. The airport pickup service worked perfectly and they were really motivated and friendly although it was 2 AM in the morning. Great experience and great trip! I would rent a car by Auto Car rental again. Johannes

Myself and my partner had a good experience overall.
We did rent a car without credit card but with a suitable debit card, we really appreciate their co-operation with it and the quick respond.
We didn't check the locking system of the car when picked up it and realized it doesn't lock the all of the doors later. I gave them a call and we got a replacement car which was a great one and a GPS as a return for the problem. I'd recommend them :)

Terrible rental experience. We were given a problem car, and was told issue could be ignored. On returning, we were charged for 3000 for possible repair. Probably this is their real money making business. I'm not going to mention the slow pickup and poor services. It's far away from the airport.
Stay away from this company!

Terrible. we drove less than 5 kilometers after filling up all the way and they told us that the tank wasn't full and charged a fee. In addition, the deposit is $2850.00 USD which is ridiculous when compared to other rental companies. It also doesn't have a shuttle from the airport to the car rental which is a couple kilometers away. They also add a $40.00 USD fee for returning it before/after their working hours as we had to return our car at 7 am to catch our flight before Would never recommend.

Hasso's service is wonderful!

We came in at 6 am, to find the driver for Hasso sitting in the arrivals area. Then after the 5 min ride to the airport, we got to the office and it was nothing but smiling faces, coffee, and a brand new Rav waiting for us.

A couple of check in heads up: GET GRAVEL INSURANCE. We had TWO rocks launched at our windshield on one of their rock-free highways. People go onto dirt roads, the rocks get stuck in the tread, and then loosen up at high speeds. I highly suggest getting this, and also the sand/ash insurance if you are visiting Vik (as like 80% of the sandstorms are in that area). That being said- Hasso was great about the small nick one of the rocks made. No taking advantage of us being tourists, which I was really worried about after seeing all of the horror stories about Reykjavik/Keflavík's rental car agencies.

Also, their security hold is somewhere around 1500 USD, no matter if you get insurance or not. It stays on your card for 9 business days. This was a super unpleasant surprise when we checked in, so make sure you have a card set aside just for "holds". While it seems insane, EVERYTHING in Iceland is super expensive because of how expensive it is to import items for example, a new windshield is like 1200 USD instead of the normal 700. So compound people spending ALL of their money on vacation because of sticker shock, and a their high level of cost for fixing cars- it makes sense.

The car literally had 30 km on it and was immaculate! Hasso is the oldest rental car agency and to quote one of the locals we chatted with, "the only place I know of where you could rent something like a Rolls Royce".

I am really happy with our decision to rent from Hasso. Their staff (and management) are really nice, their cars are mostly on the newer side, they're super efficient, and they're honest. When we come back, I'll absolutely use them again.
