Currently sitting in the lobby of Majestic Colonial on the phone with my booking agency. Our reservation confirmation clearly says ‘Majestic Colonial Club’ plain as day. Rude front desk staff hands us a key to a regular room on the family side and forces us to call the travel agency and have them call the reservations department to make any changes. Now on hold waiting for 30 minutes and counting, waiting for them to confirm our booking with the hotel. The agency said it is written in the system as ‘Majestic Colonial Club’. No clue who is lying, but the fact is we paid extra for the club side. Horrible customer service, and we haven’t even started the trip. Obviously this will be the last time staying here, and we’ve been loyal to this hotel each time we’ve visited the Dominican Republic.

Five stars isn’t enough to express how great this resort is! We loved every minute of it! The staff is AMAZING. Everyone is so friendly and is always there to help! The different activities they offer were great too! We were never bored. Food was good at almost all of the restaurants. We LOVED the Japanese grill restaurant! Beach is BEAUTIFUL. Ramon was one of the entertainers and he was the best! Talked to us everyday and always made sure we were enjoying every second of our vacation!

The location is amazing. Great entertainment. Best food is Sea by Sea lunch. Staff are amazing. Drinks are delicious. Room was great besides water pressure and temperature issues. Running toilet was annoying. Good gym. The Elegance club was the way to go. Pool lounge chairs always available. Beach beds always available. Plenty of shaded spaces to relax. Wait staff find you everywhere and are happy to bring you whatever you want. Beach is ok. Too much seaweed. I would definitely come back.

Went with large spring break group, checking in was very challenging. The staff in the seafood restaurant was great. Bartender in the middle bar makes the best drinks and says "yeah baby all day long with a smile". Denise was our waitress in the plaza bar and was awesome. Dancers make it a fun atmosphere. The 2 bartenders in the sports bar work their tail off. Only 2 of them for 300 people during NCAA tourney and everyone got their drinks. Would definitely go again.

Recently stayed at the Majestic Colonial with my boyfriend and it was an awesome experience! The staff could not have been friendlier and were happy to accommodate any need you had. Jeffry, our butler was amazing and always managed to find us to say hi and ask if we needed anything. The resort was kept extremely clean and it was beautiful. Drinks were very strong and all the bartenders were very friendly. The hibachi place was our favorite for dinner and the French restaurant was also a good choice. The lunch buffet was our least favorite but wasn’t bad, just a little bland. The beach in front of the resort is beautiful and you can rent snorkel gear for free and snorkel along the coast! The shows at night were entertaining and a fun thing to do at the end of the day. Awesome stay and we will return!

Just came back from this wonderful hotel! Stayed on the colonial side
I rated the hotel fours stars because of the smoking! People can smoke anywhere and everywhere. Except where food is being served. I was utterly surprised, given the fact that I stayed on the family side (colonial) . Nonetheless, it now makes sense why there is a musty smell to the rooms!
The bed sheets had a wet humid feel.
Very few workers speak English. It was annoying at times.
The cleaners were great most of the time.
Food was great! However, there were some nights (Saturday) where the food was boring! But it’s a 4.5 hotel! Not a 5 star Sandals hotel. The food at the Majestic is better then the hotel food I had at the luxury grand Bahia in Jamaica( STAY FAR AWAY).
The servers are amazing at the Majestic hotel. Polite, friendly, professional, fair and so many more.
Other then the issues I mentioned above, it’s a great hotel! I have already recommended this hotel to family and friendsresponse / report this review -

This is an excellent place for a vacation. Everything you need is here. A beach, good food, and live entertainment. They also provide transportation from and to the airport.This place is also a great environment to hold a wedding. They have very experienced wedding planners to ensure that your whole day is magical. You can have your choice of reception area in one of their buildings, or outside by the pool, or at the sandy beach. This place is also good to plan for family reunions, where everyone can either be together or go their separate ways with in the resort.

Fantastic experience! The grounds are well kept and the staff was amazing. All of them were so kind and helpful. The food was good, I would definitely recommend going to the restaurants, they were never too busy and my wife and I enjoyed the settings. Beach was a little crowded but very clean. All in all a very nice experience, I hope to come back!

I have to pretty much echo what everyone else has said. Beautiful place with staff focused in your satisfaction. Our personal concierge was Junior and he was outstanding. Such a gentleman and would hunt us down each day no matter where we were to make sure everything was ok (not in a creepy stalker kind of way though). We had a poolside swim-up room in the family section and it was hands down the best thing ever. Nothing better than walking out on your own patio, lounging on a big bed by the pool or just stepping right in for a refreshing dip. There are daily activities in the afternoons for entertainment. Music is played for a while but never too loud nor continuous where you can't just enjoy some peaceful serenity. Food is maybe a 3.5 but for an all inclusive it's very much above average. The New Years dinner was very good though 4.5 I'll give them. If we come back to the DR we will definitely come to the Majestic Mirage. They have earned our repeat patronage.

We had a great week at this resort! All of the food and drinks were great. The views were awesome of course, and you can tell all of the staff truly enjoy working there. Jury, the pool bartender was fantastic! The only reason for the 4 star review is that one of the rooms our group was in had tons of water leaking through the ceiling from the room above. This lead to electrical problems in their room all week. Not a big deal but definitely something to note.

Wonderful clean resort. Amazing food. Great happy staff. Really talented and professional nightlife entertainment. Overall a totally awesome vacation. Definitely coming back next year.

Love the Majestic Resorts! Stayed at the Colonial and the second time at the Elegance and loved them both! Very friendly and helpful staff! Have to say the food was significantly better at the Elegance though!

The resort was beautiful. There were always manicuring the grounds. The rooms are spacious. The food was much better than average. All good, except the bathroom and shower areas leave a little to be desired, unless you do not like any privacy. The is no separate bathroom. The only thing keeping you from being exposed is a frosted glass door. Looks contemporary, but not practical in my opinion. I'm hoping during the Fall 2017 renovation they will address the lack of privacy. The air conditioning system isn't the coolest either.

We really enjoyed our stay here! I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but we were very pleased with this resort. The food was good, the only place we didn't try was the French place. The Mexican place was the only other one that I wouldn't recommend, it wasn't very good at all. The beach was beautiful and the sand was soft. The waves weren't too big so swimming was easy in the ocean. The pool was also very enjoyable, although I really wish it was open later than 6. The nightlife here was also very fun. They threw a huge fourth of July celebration and always had shows and dancing after 7 pm. We decided not to stay in the adults only side of the hotel and we were still very pleased with our room.

Overall great experience. Staff was superbly kind and helpful. Room kind of smelled a bit like B.O, but it was really clean. Recommend wearing flip flops in the showers because they're kind of large and therefore aren't the cleanest on the ground. There was a leak, but it was tended to very quickly. The beaches were beautiful and the food was amazing! Truly unlimited food and there's a ton of restaurants to try out. Most activities (kayaking) were free with the exception of some excursions. The bars were pretty great too with really friendly bartenders and a delicious selection of cocktails. Another thing to note is that the Majestic Colonial and Majestic Elegance are separated, so you can't really walk onto the Elegance side unless you go on the beach. Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice all-inclusive experience.

It took awhile to get to the hotel from the airport in heavy rain but once you got there, you realized that you entered Paradise. The hotel is beautiful, the staff was FANTASTIC. Starting with Jeffry. Whatever help that was needed, Jeffry was there. There's not enough praise that can be said about him. From those who kept the rooms clean, the cooks, front desk personal, etc. The service was great. The buffet room was not only beautiful but the food was great and had many choices to choose from. The resort had several restaurants. The one we liked a lot was Taino's. First time at an All Inclusive resort and we loved it. We would come here again.

I can't say enough about this place. Our first ever all inclusive experience did not disappoint. We splurged for the adults only Colonial Club and were treated like VIPs. The ground and facilities are gorgeous and beautifully maintained. The food is excellent (especially anything involved red meat and vegetables). The beach and pools are wonderful. The staff are energetic, polite, fun and keep the party going. Our butler Nilo arranged a fantastic anniversary surprise for us in our room despite us not letting the hotel know ahead of time. We plan to come back every year for our wedding anniversary. If you're looking for romance, fun, social interactions, sporty activities, or pure relaxation, they have it all.

My girlfriend of 11 years and I spent our first Real vacation alone at the Majestic Colonial.Adult Only section. Five stars all the way! I was a bit put off by some of the reviews I had read before leaving on vacation. and after staying on this beautiful. well kept. clean resort. my girlfriend and I are planning to return again next year with friends . My only complaint would be the number off obviously under age drinkers. Don't care what their parents may sign. Under age is under age. And clocks would be nice . I almost missed an appointment. but all was well. Oh and for those who complained about the smoking. There is no smoking in any enclosed area like elevators . restaurants . bathrooms or buses. This is paradise for all ages. Can't wait for next year. Thanks to all the staff for making it so GREAT !!!

We went here in 2011 - so things may have changed a little bit - but this resort was AMAZING! So clean, the staff is incredibly friendly, the hotel room blew my mind, the beach was gorgeous, the food was good (the Japanese steakhouse isn't quite like home, but not terrible - the buffet was incredible) - my hubby's only complaint was there was no Dr. Pepper lol. They have a little shopping strip, which was cute and great. They have a giant outdoor theater where they did a tribute show to Michael Jackson and it was incredible! . Use their transportation service to get here from the airport and back (that ride was a little scary at 2AM arrival but it was to be expected and we made it safely) - they have everything you need and you don't need to leave the grounds unless you want to. It's in a huge gated community and the beach is private, we were only bothered by a man trying to sell us a stay at another hotel that shared the beach, but he was super friendly and we gently declined. 110% recommend going here!

Pros:
- Very close to a beautiful beach
- Nice colonial club beach towels
- Grounds and pools are well maintained and clean.
- Large selection of drinks and cocktails.
- Rooms are large and clean.
- Large selection of food.
- Large variety of entertainment for adults and kids.
- Room service for colonial club members.
- Nice TV in rooms.
Cons:
- Check-in times are long. It took them 3hrs to get us a room. Apparently this resort is infamous for over booking. Staff will continuously lie about how long your wait will be if you ask them.
- Staff are blatantly less friendly to guests that are not white!!
- Club members are told they will have a personal butler to introduce them to the resort and assist them with anything. However we saw ours only once the entire week. We didn't even get an introduction to the resort grounds and facilities.
- We didn't have all the amenities in the room promised to colonial club members on arrival. When I asked guest services they made several excuses before helping.
- The room air conditioner would randomly stop working. Rooms are dated.
- There were people complaining of money being stolen from their rooms but management didn't care at all.
- Management didn't' seem to care about any issues presented to them.
Overall I liked how clean everything was, the close proximity of the beach, and the amazing cocktails. I disliked how disorganised management and guest services was. I was very displeased with how we were treated differently because of our skin color.response / report this review -

My husband and I just got back from the Majestic Colonial resort. It was an amazing trip. We had tremendous fun and loved every minute of it. All the staff were extremely helpful and fun to be with. We had excellent service from all the servers especially from Milsolodia. She beautifully decorated our table with flowers every morning for breakfast. We would also like to thank the whole animation team: Alexander (Lucky Luke), Heriberto, Angelica, Risa, Luis (Coca Cola) and the others for their enthusiasm, their great spirit and fun nature. We had so much fun with all of them. The daily shows were outstanding. We are looking forward to going back real soon to see our new friends. Thanks again to everyone.

My husband and I just celebrated our one year anniversary here and we had the best time!
The staff was so welcoming and made sure we always had what we needed.
The rooms were spacious and comfortable. They have safes to put your important documents in. The shower was huge. We had a partial view of the ocean.
The food was good. Entertainment every night.
I chose this resort for the pools and gorgeous landscaping and they did not disappoint! So relaxing. We are already planning on coming back.response / report this review
