Everything except Room Service is good here . The ladies do not care for cleanliness. Leave garbage. Do not give you beach towels until you ask and give them tip. And they will never change it until tip is given . They need to upgrade their ROOM SERVICE

Just a wonderful resort, older but very clean. All of the personnel were friendly, helpful and personable! Great selection of food. Pools and ocean beach were well maintained. Would recommend in a heartbeat! We were there Apr 11-18/18 and are now planning another visit in November

For Cuba, this place is awesome. The beach is easily accessible, large, clean, and white sand. The staff are super friendly and keeps the guests happy, and the place in good shape. The food is good, with lots of choices. 4 stars in International standards, and 5 stars in Cuban standard.

The room we were given on arrival was mouldy, the a/c and power kept cutting out, the door lock/latch was coming off and badly rusted. Changed rooms, a bit better, at least the power stayed on and a/c worked.
The wiring, fixtures and plumbing are so old and broken down. In Canada this building would have been condemned years ago.
The food was edible in the buffet but the "special" a la cartes were garbage.
Oddly, the younger staff were friendly and accommodating, but otherwise the rest of the staff were lazy, rude and unhelpful. The beach was wonderful, the town was fun with a lot of interesting sites, just the resort itself should be torn down.

Fantastic accommodations at this price level. The beach makes it a bit more desirable than resorts on the western part of town. Clean, great pool area, great views, fun staff and the food is Cuban. As good as you would expect. On eastern edge of town proper, easy walk too all shopping and restaurants. Easy access to golf course.

The place was very clean, rooms were very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good but a little on the cool side. Nice variety of food. Beach was amazing, even had bar service there too. All in all I'd recommend this place to anyone

Horrible
The staff are very rude and don’t assist unless you give them money. The service is terrible. Furthermore, I had my jewellery box stolen on my last day so when I came to realize this it was already too late
The rooms are either facing the front of the hotel were buses and drunk people wake you up every hour, or the pool where they have their entertainment till late night and drunk people sitting by the pool till 3 am. Also you either get leaks or heavy smell of mold (or both if it’s your lucky day).
The food is the same as any other resort in Cuba, except there is less variety. The place is worth 2.5 stars and the only good thing about it is the beach, but with their staff it’s worth nothing

Our stay in this beach resort was quite pleasant. Everything was included in our package so there was no issue checking in and out. Staff was help and friendly. Room was quite reasonable in size but was bit worn out like everything else in Cuba. However it was clean, house keeping showed up every morning during our stay.

Barcelo has 2 resorts attached to each other you can have your meal at any of those places which was great option in case on of the resort is full of people. Food was just reasonable enough. Nothing out of this world but they did have quite few items to choose from in each meal.

I think the highlight of our stay was the beach area. it was clean, safe and absolutely stunning.

I cant write the whole story becsuse there isn't enough room so here is the very short version:
Got grabbed by man while walking through the grounds, security did nothing.
Beds broken in half, used stuff we brough to sleep on
Bathroom smelled of urine strong bad urine complained, nothing done.
Food handeling practises were horrid got sick so did two of our party.
Accused of stealing a towel they kept me almost missing my bus to the airport while notifying security all while my 4 children looked on in horror. I finally asked them what i can do to make this stop they said to give them 25CUC. there never was a towel but i paid to get OUT of that horrid place and go HOME!!!
Always thought a mission trip would be the thing that makes me fully appreciate canada. nope this trip was. The whole time i felt trapped and like i was staying at a hostile (which i have NO problem with but this wasnt supposed to be that!) It was an expencive trip which my mother had been looking forward to since she started to go 12 years ago! She stated she had never before stayed anywhere so bad.
Please do NOT stay here!! This was just the top few things cant even start to get into it all!!!
Btw there is a nice beach. where i got stung by a tiny jelly :*( just me everyone else was ok.

We just got back from a week vacation (10 of us in total - 4 rooms). First off the beaches can not be beat. They are beautiful. As for the hotel - very tired and in desperate need of fixing up and cleaning. Hot water for showering was only available 50% of our time there. We didnt have issues with our a/c but another family member did. He was told that maintenance would be up in 10 minutes..they never came. After spending 3hrs waiting he finally demanded a new room which he got. Staff were very pleasant except for the bar staff in the main lobby. The guests were actually the rude ones.mainly the Europeans. I understand that we dont all speak the same language but i thought a smile and a nod was universal? The pool was green so we didnt use. My husband and i have never travelled.didnt even have a honeymoon. This was for our 20th Anniversary so for a first experience it was more than dissapointing. We all got sick while there but not sure if due to the heat or food/water so cant comment. Food was average but towards the end we couldnt stomach the thought of going to the buffet..the food was the same all week. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel 2.5 at best. The smell of the pillows (sweat?) were so bad it was nauseating.

The beach and bar service was excellent. The food in the buffet had a large selection and very enjoyable. This was a family vacation and our 3 grandchildren had a great time. Overall a great place to stay, also a short walk to downtown.

When we arrived at the front desk the staff was very nice and helped us with everything. We also went to the beach restaurant to eat lunch and the food was ok, waiters were also very nice. The plates, spoons, knifes, forks were not cleaned well, and there were ants on the table. But overall the food was good. When we arrived inside our hotel room the air conditioning was not working well, the hair dryer got fixed 3 times but still doesn't work the toilet seat kept on falling down every time and there was water was dripping from the washroom Ceiling.Also the beach was very nice the water was very clear and the pool was clean and awesome! overall this was a amazing resort/hotel!

Definitely far from a 4 star hotel. Doors and air conditioning in the room needed repair. Food bar less than standard quality and poor cleaning of the bar as well as of the dishes. Wine and gas refreshments reduced with water. Definitely too little worth drinking or eating. Ample hotel and rooms, well painted exteriors, nice beaches.

The beach was very very nice and clean. The food was very bad and the hotel was in disrepair, they ran out of fries the second day and never got more for the whole week. We DID have a good time despite the problems. The last day was ruined by the maid bothering me all day to pay for a towel that had been stolen from me earlier in the week, lol, it was a ratty bleach stained towel but I paid the ridiculous $20 cuc. The rest of the staff was friendly and fun. I would return if the price was right but far from the best resort we've stayed at. The white coffee at the lobby bar is awesome and mixed drinks are better from there as well. The hotel store had the best prices of any store around. The restaurants nearby we tried were awful as well. If you've already booked it pack some snacks for later in the week when your starving, besides that go and have fun and enjoy the beach and pool. Have a corn and onion omelette for me, yuck

There was 9 of us all family members spent a week at your hotel, from the time we entered the lobby we were greeted with fruit punch, the staff at the desk were really great. The hotel could do with some upgrading, the food could do with more of a choice. The loungers are in real bad need of replacing. We had the best waiter Amando and waitress Mabel who was always there to take real good care of us with water, juice and coffee. we love you. our maid Lisabet was the greatest, went out of her way to make us comfortable. Overall we went there for your beautiful clean beach and loved every minute of our trip.The pool was clean and the entertainment was excellent. Regardless of the little things we will surely be back to see you guys again.
