The old mill is an great place to host a special event of varying size. It is conveniently located adjacent to a subway stop and is in a beautiful location. The staff are professional, but a little cold and the food is good considering the amount they have to prepare at once, but not the best meal you'll ever have.
By far one of the best family outings we've had.
Beautiful landmark location with something to offer for every taste, young and old.
Service and staff are exceptional.
What a lovely hotel! The gentleman at the front desk was gracious and friendly and so helpful. It feels like you are somewhere outside of a big city, in a quiet and lovely inn. The room was.beautiful and the bed very comfortable. We had a large Jacuzzi bath tub in the suite which was wonderful to have on this cold winter night! Room service was fast. We had salmon with Caesar salad which was absolutely delicious. After dinner we went downstairs and listened to some terrific jazz in the bar! My husband and I will be back again.
I attended a wedding here this past weekend. The service was amazing. Really friendly bartender and servers. Absolutely beautiful setting. Old mill has these incredible rooms that are decorated in a lovely antique style with the old trim and fixtures intact. They are also pretty well sound proofed so you could only hear other weddings when you went into the hallway. The food was incredible. So much food! Only problem was that the event started an hour and a half late as they were cleaning up from the previous wedding. I blame that on the previous wedding reception running late but they should have had them leave on time. Overall a great experience, and would highly recommend!! 5 stars.
Beautiful, scenic location with lots to see on the grounds. This place is situated in a nice neighborhood and has lots of history. The room is spacious and the bathroom is quite nice as well, having a Jacuzzi tub and shower. We were able to set up a pack and play for our seven month old daughter and still have plenty of room. The continental breakfast had a pretty good variety of things to eat. Eight cereal choices, fresh fruit, yogurt, bread's, pastries, and juices. The staff were very helpful and friendly, immediately getting the highchair for my daughter when we walked in for breakfast.
This hotel is very rustic - kind of felt like you weren't in Toronto once you stopped in. It's old and the wooden interior added comfort. As old as it is, it is well kept without a spec of dust (at least from the public area). I came for a wedding and felt the food was decent. Large portions. Waitresseles and waiters reminded me of the staff that I'd find at a small town restaurant, older, caring, patient and loyal.
My friend and I go to the restaurant to celebrate birthdays. Lunch buffet is always excellent. Wide variety of choices. Desserts to die for. Excellent service. .truly a special experience in a luxurious rustic authentic old mill atmosphere. Upholstered chairs were a little too soft for us bUT they made the effort and exchanged them for firmer chairs.
Attended a wedding at the old mill. It was a great venue for the event. The hall that we had the dinner in had great access to a beautiful patio. The staff was amazing especially the two bartenders we had. Shout out to Eugene the coordinator for the night he provides great service. Overall fantastic time.
The Old Mill is located just by the Old Mill subway station. Its a handsome estate, a large lodge type hall full of old world charm. Therefor a family gathering and enjoyed the buffet in a pleasant food hall. Your choice of anything from seafood to salads, meats, cheeses, breads, pasteries, fruits and veggies. Everything was fair to excellent. The service was cordial and welcoming. The place itself is a bit of a maze though as the building is more vast than one would perceive at street level, but its fun to get lost and discover the various rooms, gardens, travel back to a different time and learn a little history from this grand old lodge.
This is a beautiful venue. My friends had their wedding there, and it was gorgeous at every point. There's a grotto, a multitude of venue rooms (all lovely), a beautiful patio and the building itself is stunning. The only issue I have is the lack of accessibility. One of the guest couldn't get down to the grotto for the ceremony because the stairs were too hard on her.
First time. Pleasant experience. Staff was very friendly, but there was a lot of stuff being moved around to cater to different areas so it almost gave me a construction zone feel. Other than that the place was clean and beautiful in it's own unique way. Food I would give 8/10 based on what I had.
This is a very nice hotel in a good location; free parking and easy access to public transport - these are important points for visitors. Our room was huge, with a big bathroom (spa bath and shower cubicle, separate WC). The soft jazz theme and background music is a nice touch. The continental breakfast was really good enough (porridge and boiled eggs in addition to the expected). If access to sauna etc was included for the hotel guests, rather than having to first pay for access to / spa treatment, this would have attracted full five stars.
This was our second stay at The Old Mill. The room was nice as usual with music playing softly upon your arrival. However, the fireplace did not work, nor did it work during our first stay a couple years earlier, albeit in a different room. The large jacuzzi tub is also nice, but I feel the additional package consisting of chocolates, bubble bath and a electronic candle is quite over priced. The hotel is close to a subway station, which makes it convenient to get into downtown Toronto without having to drive. Parking is validated at the hotel. The surrounding trails and parks are great in the summer time I'm sure, but we've only stayed in the winter months. Breakfast in the morning is a Continental breakfast and nothing special. The staff has been friendly on both occasions. Overall I do not feel like the value justifies the price.
Hotel rooms are really great. Vintage looking hotels, very nice environment. There are also trails to enjoy nature. On top of that, there is also a very nice chapel. Good location to have wedding ceremony. However, the brunch food provided by the Old Mill tea gardens restaurant wasn't the greatest. Service was also quite slow since they seem to be understaffed during Sunday brunch time. Price for the brunch is also quite expensive. The brunch is not worth the money, and the restaurant is too dark. Although, may be some people will love the vintage old atmosphere.
Sadly we were there for a shower and high tea and it was a big disappointment. $40 for a pot of hot water that quickly turned cold, a box of tea we had to pass around to make out choice and sub-standard food. This is a perfect example of place that relies on their reputation from back in the day and hasn't bothered to keep up with the standards they were once famous for. A few small upgrades and this would have been a great experience as it stands none of the 10 people that came are likely to return. Wish I had better things to say..
