Clean. Friendly staff and good safe location.

This is one of my favourite hostels. The rooms, showers and kitchen are all very clean. They have a games room and tons of activities through the week (definitely check out Eriks tours). The front desk staff are so much fun

Your standard Canadian HI hostel. Clean, simple and cheap. Each room has 4 bunk beds and a locker that you can lock with your own lock. There are no bathrooms in the rooms so you'll have to walk into the hallway and look for a free one and that can sometimes be annoying. The kitchen of this hostel is great and so is its breakfast. Guests can cook their own food there on a real stove.

After being there for five minutes I could not decide if this was a retirement community, a drunk tank, homeless shelter, or hostel.
After I got the key to the room I went and checked it out. Upon returning there was an elderly gentleman who wanted to give me a warning that he would probably piss in a bottle that night because he would drink too much. I went back downstairs and asked for a new room. Once I got into the new room it was a lot better but I went from a room that had two windows that open to only one. Sleeping at night I felt like I was in sauna. The rooms had very poor circulation and only had one small desk fan to move the air.
The staff does a very good job at keep the kitchen and other public area clean. But overall they need to do some upgrades to the hostel.
If you drive your car there you better hope that you can find one of their 4 outside parking spaces or I think 6 paid spots behind the gate. When I called the reservation line they told me that there would be plenty of parking for everyone. I feel lucky that I found a spot.response / report this review -

The facilities are just fine; it's your expected, standard hostel. However, certain staff members were extremely strict regarding guests. The night after I stayed at the hostel, I tried to go in with my friend (who was staying there) in order to use the bathroom. I was kicked out after being told using the bathroom when I wasn't a guest for that night was considered theft of services, and my friend was subsequently told she could not leave the hostel again until she checked out. Quite excessive and unnecessary in my opinion!

Although we booked a month in advance, we still had troubles at check in time. We had wanted to book a private room for two but upon check in, we were told there was only a reservation for one male in a male only dorm. My boyfriend had mentioned on the phone a couple times that there would be two of us, a male and a female, and that we definitely needed a private room as we were finally kid free for the weekend. It was very irritating/disappointing when we were told that our intended reservation wasn't on the computer. They did, however, have one last private room available but the dorm had bunk beds. We took it because at least we would be together but it was still just disappointing! Also, the wifi did not work most of the time.

It gets really noisy at night since the location is next to the party street of Vancouver. Other than that, the stay was fairly cheap, even for a long weekend. Bedding was comfortable and the blancket was just warm enough. Great for solo travellers!

Stayed in a 4 bed dorm for a short visit to Vancouver. The hostel is in a great location behind Davie Street and a minute from the beach. It's not far to Granville/downtown and there is plenty of public transport around. The room we stayed in had a sink in the room which was good. The bunk beds were wooden so a little bit creaky if you move around. There was also lockers and a table. The heat was on in the room and it doesn't look like you can turn it off. Also there's no air conditioning in the room, and the window doesn't have a fly screen on it so in summer it's quite hot inside. Also the sound carries in from the hallway so if there are loud people stumbling in you might hear it. I'd recommend taking ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. I liked the swipe card locks, very secure. And they also have 5 parking spaces at the back, one of the only places with parking downtown. They have daily events which is fun and there is a kitchen with free breakfast in the morning. The only major down side was that it wasn't super clean, just a little bit of grime here and there. Nothing major and it didn't make me uncomfortable, but I've definitely stayed in cleaner places. The towels could do with a bit more bleach however. I'd say the cleanliness was a 6/10. Also the wifi is annoying to use - often doesn't work for a few minutes at a time. I would definitely stay again.

I have stayed in one hostel in Victoria (2008) and this one in Vancouver (2014). I was very impressed with the location, amenities and cleanliness. Complimentary Wi-Fi and continental breakfast was a plus! I stayed in a dorm for a week and had one roommate. I paid off season rates. It was affordable.

Far enough from Granville that you can sleep easily. Clean room, decent accommodations, very nice staff. Ended up joining. Looking forward to returning.

They are very welcoming. They provide breakfast in the morning. Have a full sized kitchen and food storage, clean restrooms and showers, clean rooms, additional pillows and blankets upon request and central location to just about everywhere you want to be.
